CAS(E) This Sketch #13

Welcome to Week 12 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch designed by Karolyn Loncon:

More of my current favourite cardstock - Stampin' Up's Basic Grey!  I love how the Melon Mambo embossed with white pops off of it.  As for the stamps, I must do some rearranging in the Craft Cave because I always seem to forget about my Purple Onion Designs stamps. For some reason they're stored off on their own and so they get rather neglected.  These Noteblock stamps are so much fun and they always emboss so well.  They work great as a background or a focal point and there's one for every season.  Can't wait to see what you all come up with for this week's sketch.  Be sure to check out all the gorgeous inspiration on the CAS(E) This Sketch! blog and then get to work!

Tickle My Fancy

I'm playing along with Fresh Squeezed Stamps' Squeeze-A-Palooza today!  They've given us the theme of Valentine's Day and also 3 yummy inspiration pictures.  I was inspired by the red and pink (feather and heart) and also the patterns on the cookies (polka dot washi tape).  Even if you don't have any Fresh Squeezed stamps they provide free digis so head over there and check it out!

CASology #29

Welcome to Week 29 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

We're super excited this week to be sponsored by Fresh Squeezed Stamps!  They're a relatively new company but they're already making a splash in the stamping world with their fun and funky designs.  I have a number of their sets already and now the entire new release is on my wish list!  Check out the store here!

Fresh Squeezed Stamps just happens to have a fabulous set called Games People Play which is not only perfect for this week's cue word but also for Valentine's Day.  I paper pieced the chess pieces and created my own sentiments with Lawn Fawn alpha stamps.  I couldn't just make one for the guys - I had to make one for the ladies too!  :)

Your turn now.  Stop by the DT blogs for some brilliant inspiration and then let the games begin!

And this week's guest designer:

ColourQ CASE

**This is my second post for the day.  For my Colour Throwdown/Inkspirational post please scroll down or click here!**

Hello again!  Popping in with a card for ColourQ.  I love the soft, warm colour combo this week although I don't have any of these retired colours.  I suppose that's a good thing though because it made me search through all my other odd pieces of cardstock to find some matches and thus use up a few things!  My layout was inspired by this card by Dana F. I had fun trying to figure out what dies to use under the tag and it took a bit of playing around before I finally got to this.

Remember Kenzie, the puppy I mentioned in this post?  Jessi asked for some pictures and I've been struggling to get some good ones.  She's either sound asleep or moving at the speed of light!  LOL!  This one will have to hold you over for now.  I'll try to get some more on Friday.  It's a tough life being a puppy...

Love You Forever

Yesterday was a cold and blustery day so after doing a few odds and ends around the house and swimming and walking Atticus, we hunkered down for some movie time!  No craftiness at all over the weekend so I'll be playing catch up for the next few days.  Today's card uses the colours from the Colour Throwdown and the sketch from Inkspirational.  I pulled out some of my older stamps for this one.  The flower is Hero Arts' Large Solid Flower but I have no idea who makes the flourish stamp.  Must dash and do something about my rumbling tummy but I'll be back later!

Tiny Buttons

Happy Saturday, everyone!  We're off to town to run errands this morning but I wanted to post this card for two challenges - the buttons challenge at Little Tangles and the paper piecing challenge at Simon Says Stamp.  I love this Fresh Blooms flower from Neat and Tangled.  It seems to be my go to stamp for their challenges!  As for the buttons I used some teeny tiny buttons I got from the dollar store (where everything costs $2.99!).  Here's a picture just in case you don't believe me...

How cute are they?  And I love the dotty paper from Bo Bunny - I should have bought more than one pad of it because I know it's going to get used up fast!  Okay, time to get going. Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Grateful For Friends

Happy Friday, everyone!  Today I'm joining in with Unity's Friends With Flair blog hop and the Paper Players sketch challenge.  This is such a versatile sketch and very classic with the centrally placed image.  This Best Friends Itty Bitty was part of a prize package and the sentiment is from the September 2011 Kit of the Month.  I created the frame with some Nestabilities and then stamped over it in white with the Bit of Burlap background stamp from Market Street Stamps (which seems to have been retired as I can't find it!).

Any big plans for the weekend?  We have a bajillion errands to run tomorrow and then I'm hoping we'll spend some more time with our new friend Netflix in the evening!  Hope your day is lovely!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up

CAS(E) This Sketch #12

Welcome to Week 12 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch designed by Lisa Arana:

This was a tricky card to photograph thanks to the clear Ideaology Film Strip Ribbon so the picture is at a bit of an awkward angle but at least you can read the sentiment.  :)  I've been coveting that ribbon ever since I saw it on the cover of 365 Cards.  It's so cool!  I used an Amy Tangerine stamp and patterned paper to go with the film strip and spelled out the sentiment with Smitty's ABCs from Lawn Fawn.  Head on over to the CAS(E) This Sketch blog to see the gorgeous creations from the design team and then play along!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Melon Mambo, Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up

Muse Challenge #1

I'm excited to be playing along with the inaugural Muse challenge!  This is a new challenge created by the fabulous Jackie Rockwell.  Playing along with Muse is about inspiring, supporting and learning from each other.  These things are part of what drew me to this bloggy community so it's nice to see it all celebrated.  This week we're CASEing Amy Kolling who is an amazing CAS designer.  I've CASEd her card pretty literally.  I love the layout, the peek of patterned paper on the edges of the card and that big yellow flower.  The papers are Authentique (Blissful & Journey collections) which I got on my little shopping spree last month in Chicago.  The stamps are all Papertrey Ink and I've had them both for ages.  Now I'm off to see how everyone else has been inspired!

Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper:  (Blissful collection, Journey collection) Authentique
Stamps:  (Flowers & leaves from In Bloom, Sentiment from Think Big Favourites #2) Papertrey Ink
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Gems:  (Mini Jewels Beetle Black assortment, Mini Pearls Bumblebee assortment) Doodlebug

Celebrate With Hexagons

** This is my second post for the day.  For my CASology post please scroll down or

I am loving grey these days so when I saw that the current Just Us Girls challenge was a colour combo including grey I let out a "Whoop whoop!"  :)  The colours felt quite masculine to me so I went for a graphic, guy birthday card. There are lots of stamp companies represented here - Market Street Stamps (Bit of Burlap), Fresh Squeezed Stamps (Happy Hexagons), Hero Arts (Heyday Sentiments), Sweet Stamp Shop (hexagon dies) and Twinery twine. Love when companies play nicely together!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Lucky Limeade, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Hexagons from Happy Hexagons) Fresh Squeezed Stamps, (Sentiment from Heyday Sentiments) Hero Arts, (Bit of Burlap) Market Street Stamps
Ink:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko,( Lucky Limeade, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Dies:  (Sweet Pieces Shape-tastic) Sweet Stamp Shop
Twine:  (Stone) The Twinery

CASology #28

Welcome to Week 28 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

I was impressed with the number of different drink stamps that I seem to have amassed. Pretty much every type of drink is covered - tea & coffee, soda, juice, milkshakes & cocktails. It took a while to finally decide on one and in the end it was dictated by what would fit in the thought bubble (which is actually part of a Paper Smooches tree stamp because all my actual thought bubble stamps were too small!).  The cocktail is from Stampin' Up's Cheers to You set (which, of the few SU sets I have, is the one I use the most).  I really wanted the thought bubble to pop so I went for a bold green background and then a few small elements to accentuate the sentiment.  What kind of drink will you share with us?  Check out the thirst quenching designs from the rest of the DT and then get to work!

Sending Flowery Love

***This is my second post today.  for my ColourQ/Inkspirational post please scroll dow on click here!***

Hello again!  Yes, a second post from me today as I'm trying to make the deadline for the Colour Throwdown. Another tricky colour combo -  pink and orange always trip me up when they're put together!  I used the sketch from RetroSketches to get my brain moving and went very literal with it.  I ended up pulling out some old Woodware Craft Collection Daisy punches - some of the first I ever bought!  I layered them and then punched circles for the centers.  Simple but effective!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink, Crumb Cake) Stampin' Up
Stamp:  (Sentiment from Grand Greetings) Lawn Fawn
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Seafoam White) Ranger
Punches:  (2" & 1 1/2" Daisy) Woodware Craft Collection, (1/2" circle) Marvy Uchida, (1/4" & 5/16" hole punches) McGill
Other:  Glossy Accents

Starfruit

I have to confess that Summer Starfruit is one of my least favourite Stampin' Up! colours. It just looks like a dirty yellow to me.  I was all set to skip this week's ColourQ challenge when I saw that dreaded colour in the line-up but I sucked it up and took a stab at it.  To help me out I used the inspiration card from this week's Inkspirational challenge.  It's probably not a colour combo I'd use again but I'm pleased enough with the final result.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flowers from Folk Art Florals) WPlus9, (Sentiment from Think Big Favourites #3) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko, (Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Summer Starfruit) Stampin' Up
Embossing Powder:  (Seafoam White) Ranger
Punch:  (Corner rounder) Marvy Uchida

Moo & Moo

It's typical isn't it?  I made a big to do on Friday about posting every day of the week and then I missed Saturday!  I got distracted with cleaning, cooking, walking Atticus and watching movies with Luis.  We've just discovered the world of Netflix.  I can't believe we waited so long to try it out!  Luis is ecstatic to have so much Jackie Chan at his fingertips!  LOL!  Since I did all the boring jobs yesterday I scampered off to the Craft Cave for a bit today and got a few cards completed.  This one is for the current Paper Smooches Sparks sketch challenge.  The Valentine's cards are flying off the rack at work so I've got to restock quick!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Real Red) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Cow & sentiment from Green Acres, Hearts from Folkal Points, Hot Concoctions, A Little Lovin', Sugar Rush, Swanky Snowdudes, Good Gab and Word Salad) Paper Smooches
Ink:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Clear) Ranger
Markers:  (RV21, E33, 100) Copic
