Party Dress Birthday

Hello hello!

I'm popping in today with a card for the Time Out challenge where the inspiration word is Fashionable.  When I was in NY back in May I finally got to meet up with the amazing Claire Grantham of Ham'n'mule Designs.  During a yummy sushi dinner we had lots of laughs and exchanged crafty gifts.  This HA stamp and die set is one that I received from Claire and thought of it immediately when I saw this challenge.  I'm not normally one to use people stamps (I'm all about the critters) but this one is really quite sweet and I love how this card turned out.

Birthday Balloons

Hello hello!

I'm here with a card for the Colour Throwdown challenge.  The colours are perfect to put these NBUS Concord & 9th balloon images to work.  There are lots of fun layering stamps to add patterns to the balloons but for today I kept them simple.  The sentiment die and stamp are much used Mama Elephant products.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Calm & Cozy Chevron 6x6) My Favourite Things
Stamps:  (Balloons from Happy Balloons) Concord & 9th, (Sentiment from Labelled Messages) Mama Elephant
Inks:  (Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet) Ranger Distress Inks
Die:  (Happy) Mama Elephant
Other:  (Nuvo Violet Galaxy Crystal Drops) Tonic

Yellow Butterfly

Hi there!

I've got a card today for three challenges - CAS Colours and Sketches, Freshly Made Sketches and Seize the Birthday (Toppings - Butterflies).

I used a few scraps of old patterned paper here (which always makes me happy) and a pretty butterfly from My Favourite Things.  I love that the body of the butterfly comes as a separate die so you can layer it on the wings for more dimension.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Textured White) Bazzill, (Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Yellow from Capture 6x6) Basic Grey, (Purple from Everyday Collection 6x6) Avery Elle
Stamps:  (Sentiment from More Essential Sentiments) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Dies:  (Butterfly) My Favourite Things, (Stitched rectangle) Lil' Inker Designs

Pigeon Inspiration

Hello hello!

I'm popping in today with a card for Seize the Birthday (no toppings) and The Library Challenge.  This time the Library inspiration book is Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus.  This, and all the other pigeon books, are great sellers at the bookstore and I think they're so much fun.  I took inspiration from the cover art for my card using similar colours and layout.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Orange) Bazzill
Stamps:  (Bird from Mod Birds, Hat from Beary Special Birthday) My Favourite Things, (Sentiment from Sassy Birthday) Technique Tuesday
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black, Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko, (Soft Sky) Stampin' Up
Die:  (Speech bubble border) Lawn Fawn
Markers:  (RV42) Copic
Gems:  Recollections

CASology #350

Welcome to Week 350 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

This adorable little Neat & Tangled ocean background has been sitting around unused for far too long so I was thrilled to have the perfect opportunity to put it to use this week!  The Simon Says Stamp whale is a match made in heaven for it and the Reverse Confetti sentiment rounds out the design beautifully.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Oh Nuts...

Why is it that when I need to make a special card for someone I freeze up and instead have all sorts of ideas for designs that have nothing to do with the business at hand?  And why do so many of them seem to be slightly inappropriate?  Today I finally gave up on the card I sat down to make and instead followed through with the silliness that popped into my head.  And you know what?  As soon as this was done the other card cooperated and practically made itself.  Clearly sometimes I need to just relax, go where my crazy brain takes me and trust that I'll end up in the right place at the end.

I'm going to play along with three challenges:
