Hot Birthday Chick

This week Just Add Ink wants us to Just Add "E" so I went for Exercise!  This Avery Elle chick actually looks pretty happy to be working up a sweat.  I can't say I feel the same in the middle of a pilates or yoga session but I always feel good afterwards.  Also I feel taller after those classes.  Anyone else experience the same thing?

Fusion Thoughts

I'm popping in with a last minute card for the Fusion challenge.  I was inspired mostly by the sketch but also took some colour inspiration from the cake.  I trimmed the stems off of some Memory Box flowers to create these funky blooms and dug out some Kaisercraft paper to use for the background strips.  The sentiment is an often used one from Altenew.

CASology #365

Welcome to Week 365 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I've had this tiny Taylored Expressions kite for ages but I'm pretty sure this is the first time it's seen the light of day.  This is the time of year when lots of kites start appearing in the skies here in Bermuda all building up to Good Friday which is a day of kite flying, codfish cakes and hot cross buns for us.  Sadly the packed beaches and parks with kites vying for airspace will probably not be happening this year so I'm looking forward to seeing all your gorgeous kite designs instead.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

What's Mew?

The latest Paper Smooches challenge has an animal theme and Simon Says Wednesday challenge has proclaimed that Anything Goes.  For this one I pulled out an old favourite PS set with lots of adorable kitty images.  I cut the frame from some MME paper and added a yellow speech bubble for a pop of colour.

Dogs & Cats Celebrate!

I immediately thought of these adorable little Mama Elephant cats and dogs when I saw the latest AAA Cards challenge - along the edge with the optional twist of dogs and cats.  They haven't had much use so it was fun to pull them out and give them some love.  I popped them up on foam tape for a little dimension and added an Altenew sentiment and some Nuvo drops to finish it off.

For Fox Sake

I'm back with another one of the non-white-card-base cards I made the other day.  This one is inspired by the photo at The Card Concept and I'd put it in the Clean and Layered category. I've been meaning to make a card with sentiment for ages.  I have both an enamel pin on my bag and a coffee mug with this saying - I love it!  I spent ages dithering about colours and layout for the alpha dies and in the end went for a mixed font sentiment which I think is kinda fun.  And look!  Another scrap of patterned paper used!  Huzzah!

Geometric Flower Birthday

Usually when a colour challenge throws pink and purple at me I run a mile but I decided to be brave today and use The Colour Throwdown's colours while also playing along with AAA Birthday and MFT's The Birthday Project.  All the products I used here are from MFT.  The flower is three separate ones layered together.  I added some clear Crystal Drops to the centre of the flower and also below the sentiment.

A Million Thanks

I don't make one layer cards very often but I went for one today while playing along with Addicted to CAS's Circle challenge.  I pulled out a neglected Mama Elephant set and inked up those circle sentiments with a bright and cheery rainbow of Catherine Pooler inks.  Lining them up took ages but I think it was worth the fuss in the end.

Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink

You Are My Sunshine

Hi there!

I'm popping in tonight with a card for the Simon Says Wednesday challenge (Whatever the Weather) using the CAS Colours and Sketches sketch.  This Technique Tuesday stamp set has long been a favourite.  It even got me featured in Paper Crafts magazine back in the day!  I flipped the CC&S sketch around 180 degrees and use an MFT die for the frame.  All the cards I made today ended up using coloured card bases which is rare for me but made for a happy and colorful display on my craft table.  I made another of these using orange and black but I think I definitely like the yellow one best.

Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Weather Report) Technique Tuesday

Dies:  (Stitched rectangle scallop edge frame) My Favourite Things

Wishing You a Happy Birthday

Hello hello!

I've got a card today for the Seize the Birthday (Touch of Green) and Addicted to Stamps and More (Anythng Goes) challenges.  I used a Reverse Confetti sentiment, Paper Smooches flowers and leaves and MFT patterned paper and scalloped curve die for this design.  I'm really pleased with how bright and cheery it is and it was the perfect antidote for the grey and drizzly day we had.  Hope it's sunnier where you are!

Patterned Paper: (Proper Pinstripe 6x6) My Favourite Things

Oldies But Goodies

I pulled out some more oldie but goodie PTI products for this card that I made to play along with CAS Colours and Sketches and CAS(E) This Sketch.  I love these sentiments with the mixed fonts and the flower die has gotten plenty of use over the years.  Sometimes I feel bad going back to old favourites over and over when I have so much NBUS but I guess if it works it works!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Melon Mambo, So Saffron, Bashful Blue) Stampin' Up

Flying Birthday Kitty

Hi there!

I spent a lovely few hours in the Craft Cave today - the first really significant time in over a month.  It was a slow start but by the end of the session I was feeling a bit less rusty.  Its unfortunate that's it's taken a pandemic for me to have more time in there but I'm going to go with it for now.

With this card I'm playing along with Freshly Made Sketches and Time Out.  This adorable Your Next Stamp kitty is NBUS for me so I was pleased to make used of him.  I also dug out these adorable PTI clouds that were all the rage back when I started stamping.  Yay for using oldie but goodies!

CASology #364

Welcome to Week 364 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I am excited to be getting back to card making after my surgery.  It was so frustrating to have down time but not be able to craft.  Grrrr...  I did lots of reading though and even watched a few movies I've been meaning to watch for ages.  It was good downtime and Chica was more than happy to help keep me planted on the sofa!

I kept thing very simple for my first card back - one image with basic paper piecing and a sentiment.  The mug is Paper Smooches and the sentiment is from Lil' Inker Designs.  I was heartbroken to hear they recently closed up shop!   I remember when they opened.  I have so many of their products and Laura always provided exceptional customer service.  I'll really miss them.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!
