Luck, Peace & Happiness

I don't play along with the Runway Inspired Challenge very often.  I always plan to and I add the closing date to my challenge list and print out the photo to keep on my desk but then I freeze up.  I'm a little intimidated by the amazing design team and after looking at their cards it's like those are the only designs that will come into my head.  Once in a while though I get clobbered by an idea immediately.  The pattern on this skirt made me think of this Studio Calico paper and the dog (a chow, I think) sent me searching for my Ori Kami stamps.  This card came together really quickly after that which is so exciting!  I love when that happens!  Yay for cooperating mojo!

CAS(E) This Sketch #78

Welcome to Week 78 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch by Julie Day:

I hadn't ordered anything from Papertrey Ink in ages but last week I finally broke down and did some shopping.  And guess what?  Everything arrived on Tuesday!  It was exactly a week from ordering until I had those goodies in my hot little hands.  That is unheard of especially over a holiday weekend!  Clearly the crafty gods were rewarding me for having been restrained for so long.  :D  Anyway I mention this because the sentiment on the card is one of my new stamps.  (An older PTI stamp but new to me).  I paired it with this fun Avery Elle border in two shades of purple but the sentiment felt like it needed a little something else so I spotlight stamped part of it on Sahara Sand cardstock.  I really like how it looks!  A little something extra without being too overwhelming.  And now it's your turn to take a crack at the sketch.  Check out the gorgeous designs from the rest of the team and then get crafting'!

The colours I used are from CAS on Sunday's colour challenge.

Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Perfect Plum, Wisteria Wonder, Sahara Sand) Stampin' Up

Birthday Panda

I have finally broken out my Pandamonium set from Mama Elephant.  Those little guys are seriously cute.  I thought this one looked like he might be hanging on to something for dear life so I attached him to this balloon and gave him a cloudy background to fly along in.  The layout is courtesy of LeAnne's sketch at the Paper Players and since this is a birthday card I thought I'd play along with the Seize the Birthday challenge.

Totes The Best

***This is my second card for the day.  For my Colour Throwdown card please scroll down or click here***

Hi again!  I'm back with a card for the CASE Study challenge.  My inspiration came pretty much entirely from the layout of Wida's card.  I like the strip of black and white stripes in the background and the stacked sentiments.  I used some wide washi tape for my background and then layered up a rainbow of speech bubbles with Paper Smooches sentiments on top of it.  I'm pretty pleased with how it came out - a bright and fun card for a cool kid!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry)  Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Seriously, Totes, The best evan from Slang Gang, You're from Good Gab, Friend from Chit Chat) Paper Smooches

The Man, The Myth, The Legend

I haven't been keeping the card rack at work very well stocked lately so I'm trying to knuckle down and really crank out some cards.  Father's Day is coming up so I've been focusing on guy cards and the colours from this week's Colour Throwdown challenge seemed kind of masculine to me so I put them to work.  I used some Avery Elle NBUS here and I had fun playing with these banners - I love how they frame the "dad"!  That's it for now but I'll be back later with another card.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzazz)  Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiments from The Man, Flag from To The Point) Avery Elle

Peace & Strength

Hello again!  My card this evening is far more subtle in the colour department than my last few cards.  I've used the palette from the Colour Me…! challenge for a sympathy card.  I really like these sentiments from Altenew's Ori Kami set - lovely words and beautiful fonts.

I had a blissful few hours in the Craft Cave this afternoon.  The mojo was flowing pretty well and I was enjoying the music and coverage from Radio 1's Big Weekend.  (I realise I'm a tad outside their target demographic but what can I say?  When it comes to music I'm a total kid!).  Looking forward to a chill day with Luis and Atti tomorrow.  See you then with more cards!

Last One…

Okay this is my last card for the ColourQ challenge.  Clearly I had way too much fun with these colours and balloon dies!  I think this is my favourite of the three.  I'm always a sucker for stars anyway.  :)  Luis is out playing football with some work buddies so I'm heading up to the Craft Cave for a few hours. Hope you're all having a wonderful day!

Break Out the Sunglasses...

I told you these ColourQ colours would make another appearance!  I decided to use them for a card for the current Curtain Call challenge since the inspiration photos are full of bright colours and bold patterns.  The Simon Says air vent die hasn't seen too much action in the Craft Cave so I decided to give it a workout for this card.  :)  It's so fun!  Okay, off to meet some friends for a run.  Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

One-Layer Thanks

Well, hello, Friday!  So good to see you!  (I'm off this Saturday so I can actually celebrate that it's Friday).  I'm playing along with three challenges today.  The current One-Layer Simplicity challenge is Fabulous Flowers and The Paper Players are having a CAS Floral Challenge. Also, since I used all Paper Smooches stamps here I'll be playing along with the PS Sparks Anything Goes challenge.  How fun is this PS flower?  I love how you can fill in each layer with a different colour of ink without layering.  I used my Hero Arts inks (which haven't seen all that much action since I bought them) and I love the rich colours.  I must remember to pull them out more often...

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill
Stamps:  (Layered flower, stem & leaves from Calico, Small flower from Botanicals 1, Sentiment from Pretty Phrases) Paper Smooches

Welcome to Week 77 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch by Gayatri Murali:

For my card this week I used the colours from the current ColourQ challenge.  Actually I've used these colours for quite a few cards this week - the colours are bright and happy and just scream celebration!  I broke out my Lil' Inker balloon dies for a simple but fun birthday card.  I love that layered star balloon - so cute!  Be sure to go and check out the rest of the gorgeous cards from the design team and then get to work and play along!

Thanks A Latte!

Good morning!  I've got a triple threat card for you today.  I'm using the sketch from CAS on Sunday, the coffee theme from The Card Concept (my card is Clean and Simple) and the theme of three from CAS-ual Fridays.  These Paper Smooches coffee cups are NBUS* and I have no idea why - I love the fun pattern on them and I think it looks great on colorful patterned paper!  I used a kraft card base because I thought the colours popped better off of it and also because it just seems like coffee themed cards should use kraft.  To finish it off I felt like it needed a little something to ground the sentiment so I used the saucer image with VersaMark ink. That's it for me now - have a wonderful day!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Kraft) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper:  (Snippets 6x6) Studio Calico
Stamps:  (Coffee cup & saucer from Cyber Cafe) Paper Smooches, (Letters from Claire's ABCs) Lawn Fawn

CASology # 96

Welcome to Week 96 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Okay, folks.  We are expecting to be INUNDATED with entries this week!  Everyone must have at least one flower stamp in their stash right?  :)  I went clean and graphic for my card - very Ardyth-esque.  In fact, Kimberly said, "You are channelling the CAS Jedi master my friend, becoming ONE with the CAS Force!" (Ardyth being the CAS Jedi master of course)  :D  I can't wait to see a garden of delights spring up over on the CASology blog so check out the amazing inspiration from the fabulous design team and then get to work!

Get Well Flowers

There is a plethora of flower related challenges around at the moment so I've got a few multi challenge cards to share this week. Today's card uses the colours from The Colour Throwdown and the design is inspired by Wida's card at CASE Study.  I like the white on white sentiment die cuts that Wida used and the pop of colour that balances it on the left side.  Aside from the butterflies everything on the card is Paper Smooches so I'm entering this in the PS Sparks Anything Goes challenge.  Also I used 5 different dies so I'm entering it in the Simon Says Wednesday challenge to use dies.  See you tomorrow!

Sending Prayers

Hello hello!  I'm popping in with a card using the Paper Players colour combo and the design from Lisa Arana's Wanna Sketch?.  I tried inking up the back of an acrylic block, spritzing it with water and stamping it to create the square of yellow.  I don't think I used quite enough water but I kind of like the unevenness of the texture.  I stamped the butterfly on some paper that I'd spattered with Calypso Coral ink.  I'm hoping to get a little more brave with water and ink.  I signed up for the Watercolour for Cardmakers class although I've only watched 2 videos so far. I've made a couple of cards but am not thrilled with them so they will not be making an appearance any time soon! Hopefully over the weekend I'll have a stretch of time to watch more videos and really play around.  Will you have some crafty time this weekend?

Framed Flowers

Hi there!  A super quick post today before I dash off to work.  I'm playing along with Fusion and Seize the Birthday.  I didn't use the Fusion sketch this week - I just went with the inspiration photo.  As for STB I've used the optional toppings choice of Flowers.  I loved Hazel's winning entry at CASology this week which led me to the use of the frame here.  I pulled out my favourite PTI set In Bloom to use for my flowers.  Okay, gotta dash.  Have a wonderful day!

CASology #95

Welcome to Week 95 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

This cue word immediately made me think of the Tom Hanks movie, "Splash", and I so wanted to use a mermaid on my card but the mojo and the mermaid did not get along at all so I finally had to abandon that idea.  :(  Instead I pulled out these Lawn Fawn stamps that had never seen ink and used some 6x6 Echo Park paper from the appropriately named "Splash" collection.  Simple paper piecing, 3 elements and a triangular layout makes for a clean and simple card!  Now it's your turn to splash!  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the DT and then get to work creating!

And this week's guest designer:
