Seize the Birthday Guest Designer Part 3

I'm back for my third challenge as Surprise Party Guest at Seize the Birthday!

As usual you can make any kind of birthday card and join the Anything Goes portion of the challenge or you can play along with our Topping which this week is a Tic Tac Toe challenge.

I was a little panicked when I saw a Tic Tac Toe challenge because for some reason I really struggle with them.  However I put on my big girl pants and sat down to figure it out.  I ended up going with a diagonal line - One image/Flowers/Large Sentiment - and it was so much easier than I expected!  I dug out my trusty PTI In Bloom flower and stamped it onto coloured cardstock.  I used my Copics to do a little bit of outlining and highlighting around the edges of the flower and leaves and then paired it with a gorgeous scripty Simon Says Stamp birthday sentiment die.  I dithered forever about what colour Nuvo drops to use - purple? green? purple? green? - and finally went for green just so I wouldn't end up sitting there forever!

I hope you'll join in the fun!  You have until 9am (PST) on Tuesday, 11 August to play along.

My Heart Beats For You

It's been a gorgeous weekend here so I haven't spent a ton of time inside but I did get a couple of cards made this morning.  This one is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  This heartbeat monitor die from SugarPea is so cute and came to mind immediately when I saw the sketch.  I paired it with a CAS-ual Fridays sentiment and a Taylored Expressions heart.  I love it when different companies play well together!

Warm Wishes

Today's card is for the My Favourite Things sketch challenge.  I don't think I've used this adorable Coffee Date set before and thought it was time to ink it up.  I wanted to go for bright and cheerful colours so started with the green striped paper and went from there.

Nothing Better Than A True Friend

I've got a card today for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  I'm hoping it's okay that I didn't use a square card base.  I realised after I was done that the DT had all made square cards.  Oops.  Must pay closer attention...
I used an old but goodie PTI flower and sentiment for my design.  For some reason I often use purple with this flower.  I'm going to have to get brave next time I pull it out and try something different but for no here it is in all it's purple glory!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Old Olive, Fresh Fig) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from In Bloom) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko

The Snuggle Is Real

Today's card is for the colour challenge at the Paper Players and the Stock Your Stash (baby) challenge at Reverse Confetti.  The RC onesie stamps are my favourites for baby cards especially this one that says "The snuggle is real." I layered it on a pierced circle from Lil' Inker Designs and combined a Simon Says die with an Altewnew stamp to create the sentiment.

Seize the Birthday Guest Designer Part 2

I'm back for my second challenge as Surprise Party Guest at Seize the Birthday!

As usual you can make any kind of birthday card and join the Anything Goes portion of the challenge or you can play along with our Topping which this week is Non-neutral Card Base.

I'm normally a white card base kinda gal so this was a fun challenge for me.  I started with some MFT patterned papers on the base and then added fun colorful elements on top including Paper Smooches' Bam Bubble and a cupcake and sentiment from Neat & Tangled.  I used some Stickles to decorate the cupcake and some Nuvo crystal drops to accent the sentiment and eyes of the cupcake.

I hope you'll join in the fun!  You have until 9am (PST) on Tuesday, 28 July to play along.

Hope Your Day Rocks

Today's card is for 3 challenges - CAS(E) This Sketch, Paper Smooches (Rainbows) and Time Out (Days gone by).  I took some inspiration from Donna's gorgeous rainbow card but used music notes instead of stars.  All the stamps are from a Paper Smooches set that I've had for ages.  I love the cassette tape and think it totally qualifies the card for the Time Out challenge as cassettes are definitely a thing of the past!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Beboppin') Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko, (Tutti Frutti, Tiki Torch, Limoncello, Lime Rickey, Something Borrowed, Flirty Fuchsia) Catherine Pooler

Textured Triangles

Hello!

I've got a card today for the Just Add Ink challenge where we are to Just Choose 2: Flowers - Trees - Texture.  (I went for flowers & texture).  I've had this card base sitting on my desk for ages on which I used pink tinted texture paste with a MFT Tiny Triangles stencil.  I was rummaging through my Altenew stamps earlier and came across this never before used flower set.  I thought it would really pop against the pink if I kept it simple and stamped it in black.  I added a touch of yellow to their centres and then a yellow sentiment block to tie it together.  I'll also be playing along with the July NBUS challenge since this is the first time these flowers have seen ink.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Frosted Garden) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black Black) Tsukineko, (Regal Rose) Stampin' Up, (Limoncello) Catherine Pooler

Diagonal Flower

Today's card is for the Freshly Made Sketches and CAS Colours and Sketches challenges.I played around with a few different images for this challenge but finally settled on this Altenew flower as it flows along the diagonal line so beautifully.

Stamps:  (Flower from Handpicked Bouquet, Sentiment from Heartfelt Sentiments) Altenew

CASology #371

Welcome to Week 371 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

There's a super cute swimming pool stamp set from Avery Elle that I've wanted for ages but never got around to buying which is a bummer as it would have been perfect for this challenge.  In lieu of that I went in a totally different direction and focused on something I saw lots of pools of when I worked at the animal hospital!  I tried sketching out a more irregular little puddle but it didn't look right so I used an oval shadow die from MFT for a neat and tidy pool of pee courtesy of this cheeky pup.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

***We're switching to a monthly challenge schedule for the summer so you have 4 weeks to play along!***
Link your creations to the CASology blog by Monday, 3 August (CDT).

Rainbow Balloon

Hi there!

I had a little bit of crafty time today and made a card for Freshly Made Sketches and Just Us Girls (Rainbow).  This happy little rainbow hot air balloon has been sitting on my desk for a while and I decided it would be perfect for Jacquie's sketch.  I die cut a few PTI clouds and layered them with the balloon and then added a sentiment.  I was going to go for my usual white font embossed on black cardstock but instead I took a page from Anna Lorenzetto who often uses colours for her sentiment strips and I love the way it turned out!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Textured White) Bazzill, (Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky) Stampin' Up

Seize the Birthday Guest Designer

Hi there!
I'm super excited to announce that I've been invited to be the Surprise Party Guest for Seize the Birthday for July and August!  I've been playing along with STB since 2014 - here's the first time I had a winning card with them.  The design team is fantastic and the fact that you can play with the "Topping" option if you need some inspiration or just create any birthday card makes it so easy to play along.

This week's Topping is Red, White and Blue.  I'm sure plenty of folks will go in a patriotic direction with July 4th coming up.  Its not a holiday here though (we're a British Overseas Territory) so I went for a funky blue sky and a bright red plane instead.

I hope you'll join in the fun!  You have until 9am (PST) on Tuesday, 14 July to play along.

Supplies Used:
Cardstoc:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pacific Point) Stampin' Up
