Skipping Stones February Stamp & Share Challenge

Hello and welcome to Skipping Stones February Stamp & Share Challenge!  We have a sketch challenge this month and we would love for you to play along.  Skipping Stones Design stamps are NOT required to play along (but if you have some we'd love to see you use them)!

I pulled out the Funderwear set from the most recent release.  This set cracks me up and I especially love this pair of sassy granny panties!  I thought they'd look great in pink polka dots so I paper pieced them and popped them up on foam tape.  I trimmed the sentiment stamp into two pieces so that I could place it above and below the image and also curve each line - I love that you can do this with stamps and make them even more versatile!

I hope you'll find some time to play along with us especially as one lucky person will win a Skipping Stones Design stamp set of their choice!  Be sure to check out the rest of the fabulous inspiration from the design team and then get crafting!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White, Soft Stone) Papertrey Ink, (Regal Rose) Stamping' Up

Stamps:  (Panties & sentiment from Funderwear) Skipping Stones Design

I'm super excited to be Guest Designer this week at CAS(E) This Sketch!  I was once on the design team at this fabulous challenge and still try to play along whenever I can.  I stuck pretty close to N@'s sketch with my card.  I love these WPlus9 elephants and think this guy and his balloon go along perfectly with the Altenew sentiment.  I actually loved this card so much that I made it in a few different colours.  I hope you'll play along this week.  The design team has their usual array of amazing inspiration so check them out and then join in!

That's it for me - off to walk Tex!  :)

CASology #186

Welcome to Week 186 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I went straight for the watercolor smooshing technique when I saw this cue word.  I used Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and smooshed it on some watercolor paper, dried it and smooshed some more on top.  I did that a few times and love the cool texture it ended up with.  I die cut a circle from the smooshed paper, paper pieced the Lawn Fawn whale and popped him up on foam tape.

Now it's your turn to show us your CAS distress cards so check out the beautiful inspiration from the rest of the design team and then play along!

And this week's guest designer:

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember that the deadline for entries is Monday at noon (CST).

I'm also going to enter my card in the Celebration challenge at Lawnscaping.

Cupcakes & Lightbulbs

I finally finished my card orders today and will deliver them tomorrow!  Whoop whoop!

This first card was made using the Cupcakes or Candy topping option from Seize the Birthday and the birthday theme option from The Friday Mashup.  I paper pieced a Mama Elephant cupcake and used a Lil' Inker wonky square to frame it.  Love that shape!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White, Soft Stone) Papertrey Ink, (Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Snap Life 6x6) Simple Stories
Stamps:  (Cupcake from Carnival Cupcakes, Candle & sentiment from Carnival Toppers) Mama Elephant
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Die:  (Wonky Stitched Squares) Lil' Inker Designs
Glitter:  (Clear Wink of stella) Zig
Gems:  Recollections

Next up is a card for ColourQ's One spot of colour challenge.  I needed a couple more masculine cards and thought this simple colour palette worked well of that.  The sentiment is a mash up of phrases from 3 different companies - love that!  Hoping I can get away with those 3 little gems on a guy card...

That's it for tonight.  See you tomorrow for CASology!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight) Stamping' Up
Stamps:  (Lightbulb from Sparkle and Shine) Neat and Tangled, (Shine Bright from Lunar Lights) Lawn Fawn, (On your from Mother Knows Best) Fresh Squeezed Stamps, (Birthday from CL340) Hero Arts

Happy To Be Back

I am so glad to finally be back posting - the last week has been so frustrating!  What I thought was just an occasional pinched nerve in my hand has turned out to be Carpal Tunnel which I discovered when the pinch turned into agony and a swollen hand and wrist.  I had 3 days of steroids, anti-inflammatories and pain meds and have been wearing a wrist brace ever since.  I had to rest my arm as much as possible so no crafting or computer time.  The computer time was easy to avoid as our internet went down.  It's back now but sporadically and we're only getting a third of the mbps that we're paying for so only one of us can be online at a time.  Mom is on our service too so we've practically had to schedule time for each of us.  Staying out of the Craft Cave has been a lot harder especially as I have two big orders that I really should have delivered by Friday.  My wrist was feeling pretty good yesterday so I dove back into making those cards.  They're all birthday cards so I used some challenges to get myself going on them and I'm going to share 2 tonight.

First up (above) is a card using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the colours from The Colour Throwdown.  I need a few masculine cards for the orders so I thought these colours worked perfectly for that.  The balloons are from Simon Says and the sentiment is CASual Fridays.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Grey) Stamping' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Red grid from Snap Life Just the Basics, Red dots & red stripes from Snap Colour Vibe) Simple Stories
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Shenanigans) CAS-ual Fridays, (Balloon string from Admit One) Lawn Fawn
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up
Die:  (Bslloon) Simon Says Stamp
Gems:  (Ladybug assortment) Doodlebug

My second card was inspired by Tracey's gorgeous Muse creation.  I pretty much CASEd it as I used the same colours and layout and of course, flowers.  Instead of stamping mine though I fussy cut them and popped them up on foam tape.  Probably shouldn't be fussy cutting with this wrist but I'm not going to quit that forever - I'll just take an Advil and get on with it!  :)

That's it for tonight.  Have a good evening and hopefully I'll have some more to share tomorrow!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Coastal Cabana) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flowers from Striped Florals, Sentiment from Birthday Greetings) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana) Stamping' Up

Skipping Stones Tip/Technique Hop

Hi there!  Welcome to the monthly Skipping Stones Design Team Tip/Technique Blog Hop.  You should have arrived here from Ilina's blog.

Today I'm sharing a simple one layer card and showing how a sentiment can be the star of the show in your design.  Both the sentiment and the flip flops are from the You Know You're Gettin' Old Birthday set.  I love the cheeky sentiments in this set - they really make me giggle.  :D  I thought that the flip flops framed the sentiment perfectly and those stripes were just begging to be filled in with rainbow colours.  I added gems to the flip flops for a little sparkle and that was that!

Okay, time to get hopping.  You should now be heading on to Coralynn's blog.  If you get lost just head back to the Skipping Stones Design Blog to start or see the list below.  Be sure and leave comments along the way for the chance to be entered in the giveaway!  Also check out all the awesome stamp sets in the
Skipping Stones store!

CASology #184

Welcome to Week 184 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I've been frantically making Valentine's card for the last month - I've had so many special orders this year!!  This one uses some older WPlus9 stamps that I bought second hand a few years ago.  I had fun paper piecing and fussy cutting the images - lots of nice easy straight lines on these!  Ha ha!  I spent ages dithering between using a central layout for the pocket or putting it in the lower right hand corner.  I like them both but in the end I went for the classic central layout.

Now it's your turn to show us some Valentine's love!  Check out the beautiful inspiration from the rest of the design team and then play along!

And this week's guest designer:

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember that the deadline for entries is Monday at noon (CST).

Sketchy Hearts

Hi there!  I've got another card to share from the special orders I've been working on and I'm going to enter it in a few challenges since so many of them have to do with hearts and Valentine's at the moment.  :)  This was pretty simple to put together. I just die cut the hearts, mixed up their colours, layered them and added a sentiment and some gems.

I used the sketch over at the Fusion challenge as a jumping off point.

I was also inspired by the photo at The Card Concept and I'd say my card falls into the Clean and Simple category.

The Simon Says Wednesday challenge is to Have a Heart and I had to play along especially as these are Simon Says heart dies.

Just Us Girls has Valentine as their word challenge this week.

And finally AAA Cards (a CAS challenge) has a love theme at the moment.

Okay, 14 cards to go to finish off my special orders so I'd better get cracking before I have to head back to work.  Have a lovely day and I'll see you tomorrow for CASology!

Sketchy Birthday

Hi there!  After two fabulous weeks of card making, blogging regularly and visiting other blogs I fell right back off of the wagon.  Work has ramped up again and I've had a lot of special card orders to complete so I haven't been on the computer much at all.  I've had to make a few birthday cards so I made this one based on the sketch at Seize the Birthday.  It uses goodies from Altenew, Lil' Inkers and Neat & Tangled.  Aside from trying to keep all the little triangles from falling out (I only wanted a few to be missing) it was pretty easy to put together.  :)  Have a lovely evening!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Bermuda Bay) Stamping' Up, (Black) Gina K, (Gold)
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Birthday Greetings) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko,

CASology #183

Welcome to Week 183 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I took inspiration from the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch to work out my card this week.  I went for a very literal interpretation and used one of my favourite Lil' Inker dies to cut a nice glittery sun.  To add some interest to the clouds I made them darker where they overlap and I popped up the sun for some dimension.  This week's word leaves a lot of room for interpretation so I'm excited to see what you all come up with.  Be sure to check out the gorgeousness from the design team gals and than play along!
