Congrats Banners

I've got a card today for Freshly Made Sketches and Just Us Girls (Use 2 or more different patterned papers).  I knew I wanted to use dies for this sketch but I spent quite awhile digging around before I finally came across these Reverse Confetti banners.  I paired them up with some of my favourite My Mind's Eye papers and then added this Honey Bee congrats.  Originally I planned to use black cardstock but then I went for Bermuda Bay which really made the turquoise in the papers pop.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Bermuda Bay) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Reunion 6x6) My Mind's Eye
Dies:  (Banners) Reverse Confetti), (Congrats) Honey Bee Stamps

Fla-Mazing!

I've got a card to share for the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge featuring another caffeinated critter from The Rabbit Hole Designs. This flamingo has clearly had a rough night but will be fla-mazing in no time thanks to that cup of joe!  I love the extra little details on these stamps like the slippers that all the critters wear - how cute are those bee slippers?  I actually ended up making two cards with this stamp.  I think I like the first one best but what about you?

Here For You Butterflies

I've got a card today for the new Colour Throwdown challenge where the colors are black, white and turquoise.  I was digging through some old stash and came across a set of die cut butterflies from Making Memories and decided they needed to be put to use.  I paired them up with some patterned paper from Basic Grey, a sentiment from Altenew and some black Nuvo dots.  I figured while I had them out I'd make a second card but with a yellow background this time using My Mind's Eye papers.

Oxide Smoosh

Today's card is for the Addicted to Stamps and More Anything Goes challenge.  I was looking back through my blog and was reminded of an ink smooshing/watercolour technique that I learned from Jennifer McGuire.  It's been a while since I did it and I wanted to try it again so I went digging for some large flower images.  I found this old The Craft's Meow set and thought it would be perfect for it.  I tried the technique with regular Distress Inks and Oxide Inks.  They come out quite differently but I like the richness of the Oxide inks on this one.  It's so pretty that I wanted it to take center stage so I simply added an MFT sentiment and a couple of gems and left it at that.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Watercolour) Ranger
Stamps:  (Flower & leaves from Beautiful Spring) The Craft's Meow, (Sentiment from Geometric Greenery) My Favorite Things

CASology #369

Welcome to Week 369 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I went for an immature and cheeky (pun totally intended!) take on the cue word this week.  I can only imagine that unicorn farts (or "the wind passed by unicorns" as some might say) would probably actually be very pleasant and would smell like cotton candy or bubblegum.  What do you think?

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Twofer Flowers

Aaaargh!!!  I just realised I've missed the deadline for the Twofer challenge!!!
This time the prompt was flowers and I'm so excited about what I came up with but I came up with them a day late.

*sigh*

Oh well.  I'm going to share them anyway.

I chose a flower from Altenew's simple flower set.  I started by making a thank you card with a simple bunch of flowers.  Then I was looking at the swirl on the flower and it made me think of the snail card I made for a recent CASology challenge.  So I took the body of a snail from an Essentials by Ellen set and then used the flower to make him a different shell!   Pretty neat huh?  Finally I added a Lil' Inkers Designs sentiment to make it into an encouragement card.

Supplies Used:

Thank You Card
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flowers & leaves from Simple Flowers) Altenew, (Sentiment from Salutations) Paper Smooches

Scoops of Birthdays and Thanks

I was having trouble getting my mojo going the other day so I assigned numbers to my stamps, used a random number generator to pull up a number and then had to make a card with the corresponding stamp set.  This Reverse Confetti set was the first one to come up so I made a birthday card for the RC Stock Your Stash challenge.  Super simple with some of my favorite colours of cardstock.  Since I had the set out I also made a thank you card - same layout but with a bit more going on in the background.
The number thing really worked to get me going.  Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with choice when I'm looking at my supplies and don't know where to start so taking the choice out of my hands really helped.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiments from Love & Ice Cream) Reverse Confetti

Seashell Thoughts

Today's card is for the Addicted to Stamps (photo inspiration) and AAA Cards (up to 1/3) challenges.  The photos from ATS are so gorgeous and sent me straight to an older stamp set from Avery Elle which has such pretty ocean inspired images.  AAA also had the option of using a repeated image which I originally planned to do but then I couldn't decided which image I wanted to use so I scrapped the repetition idea and used them all.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (All from The Reef) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko, (Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet Distress Inks) Ranger

You're Worth It

Today's card is for the Freshly Made Sketches and Colour Throwdown challenges.  I knew I wanted to use this My Mind's Eye paper for the CTD challenge so then I just had to decide what to use it with.  This Memory Box bird has been sitting on my desk for ages (along with a bunch of his friends in every colour of the rainbow) so I put him to work with an encouragement sentiment and am pleased with the result!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Breeze 6x6) My Mind's Eye

T-Wreck

I've got another caffeinated critter from The Rabbit Hole Designs to share today.  This grouchy T-Rex is for the Paper Players' CAS Men in Mind challenge.
This is Luis without his caffeine.  I swear his blood is 50% espresso.  He has at least two espressos before he leaves the house in the morning and then has regular coffee as soon as he arrives at work.  When he's home he has an espresso after lunch.  He also has an espresso after dinner and somehow can then fall straight asleep!

Skinny Washi Stripe

My brother and his fiancée sent me a bunch of crafty goodies for Christmas and included was a collection of skinny washi tape from Me & My Big Ideas.  They're fun individually but I also thought that they'd make a cool stripe if I put them all together.  I decided on a yellow sentiment die to balance out the yellow on the other side of the stripe and scattered around some Nuvo drops for some extra fun.  I made a second card with a Hello sentiment too.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight) Stampin' Up

Purple Zebra

Today's card is for the My Favourite Things Sketch challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge (Animal fun).  This adorably funky zebra is another of the items I found on my desk waiting for use.  I popped him up on a pierced rectangle from Lil' Inker designs and embossed a sentiment.

Yellow Butterfly

Today's card is for CAS Colours and Sketches and Just Add Ink (Thinking of You).  These layered Catherine Pooler butterflies are so pretty although I think that I've used the same colour combo for them every time I've used them so far.  I'm going to have to try and mix it up a bit in the future...

Thank You Flower

I've got a card this evening for Freshly Made Sketches and Addicted to CAS (Code Word: Flower).  I found this gorgeous flower in a pile of bits and bobs waiting for their turn to shine on a card.  I made it ages ago using a smooshing technique I saw on Jennifer McGuire's blog.  I have a few others too but don't have any leaves which may be why they've sat unused for so long.  I'll either have to get off my butt and make some leaves or get more creative!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Watercolor) Ranger, (Daffodil Delight, Basig Grey, Basic Black) Stampin' Up

Awesome!

Today's card is for CAS(E) This Sketch and Addicted to Stamps and More (CAS challenge).  This awesome WPlus9 stamp set came immediately to mind when I saw the CTS sketch this week.  Its one of my oldest stamp sets and I love it as much now as I did when I first got it.  I stamped the background with a bit of rock 'n' roll technique in two different sets of colours.  Then I embossed and fussy cut the awesome and popped it up on foam tape in the centre of the background.  The You're so was stamped in black, trimmed out and also popped up on foam tape.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from So 80s) WPlus9
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Pink, Apricot, Sky Blue, Heliotrope) ColourBox

Pink Bicycle

I've got a last minute card for the Inkspirational photo challenge today.  I spotted the pink bicycle in the corner of the picture which inspired me to pull out this NBUS Simon Says Stamp bicycle die.  I paired it with a WPlus9 hello die and some Altenew washi tape for yet another no stamping card!  There have certainly been a lot of those lately.  Not sure why but at least I'm making use of some neglected goodies.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pretty in Pink, Basic Grey, Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Gold)
Dies:  (Classic bicycle) Simon Says Stamp, (Hello speech bubble) WPlus9

CASology #368

Welcome to Week 368 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Plants and snails definitely go hand in hand but I know that many people would prefer they didn't.  Luis does not appreciate when they savage his vegetable garden but I think they're pretty cool creatures.  Their shells are gorgeous and I always feel so guilty when I step on one by mistake. :(

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!
