Stencil & Butterflies

The card is for the Just Add Ink and AAA Birthday challenges.  At JAI we are to "Just Add Two" - 2 choices from Stencils-Pencils-Patterned Paper.  I went with stencils and patterned paper.  I've had this embossing paste stenciled background on my desk for ages - so excited to finally use it!  I cut some PTI butterflies (things with wings for AAA!) out from patterned paper and cardstock and popped them up on foam tape.  The sentiment is from Mama Elephant.

Party Dress Birthday

Hello hello!

I'm popping in today with a card for the Time Out challenge where the inspiration word is Fashionable.  When I was in NY back in May I finally got to meet up with the amazing Claire Grantham of Ham'n'mule Designs.  During a yummy sushi dinner we had lots of laughs and exchanged crafty gifts.  This HA stamp and die set is one that I received from Claire and thought of it immediately when I saw this challenge.  I'm not normally one to use people stamps (I'm all about the critters) but this one is really quite sweet and I love how this card turned out.

I'm popping in with another card from yesterday's rainy day card session.  This one was inspired by one of the photos at Addicted to Stamps and More's photo inspiration challenge.  Can you guess which one?  Ha ha!  I used some older Papertrey Ink stamps to create the background with Altenew inks.  The Xs and Os are Doodlebug chipboard letters that I've had for AGES!  I covered them with VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with gold powder.  The stamped edges looked a tiny bit rough so I added strips of shiny gold cardstock to even everything out.

Two Birds (But No Stone)

I have two cards to share today.  First is for Keren's Lovely Layers Challenge for the Winnie & Walter WCMD celebrations using the sketch from Merry Monday.  Another adorable birdie in a Santa hat makes an appearance!  I used W&W dies for the scalloped layers and the birdie is popped up on foam tape.  I thought it was kind of fun to have a yellow card base - not your usual Christmas colour but it helps make the birdie pop a bit.  I also added Stickles and Wink of Stella to his hat for some festive sparkle.

This next card is for the AAA Cards sketch challenge.  It had me stumped until I came across this Memory Box branch while I was flipping through dies.  It seemed perfect for the stripe on the sketch.  This little MB bird is an old favourite - one of those dies I've definitely gotten my money's worth from!

Holiday Poinsettia

I've got another Christmas card today - this one inspired by the current CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  I remember being desperate to get these WPlus9 poinsettia stamps but I think this is the first time I've inked them up.  For shame...  Oh well - they've been Christened now!  The paper is Doodlebug and the sentiment is from the same Lil' Inker set as yesterday's card.

I thought this sketch looked familiar and then realized that this is a Retro CTS week and, indeed, this is a sketch from way back in 2013 when I was on the CTS team.  You can see my original design here.  Clearly my brain hasn't changed it's thinking process much as I went for flowers both times!

Bear & Rose

Hi there!  How's your weekend going?  Today was my first day off in 12 days so I was excited to not have to set the alarm last night.  However, I don't think I ever need to set it again because the Ella alarm was right on time purring in my face at 5am and demanding her breakfast.  Ugh!  No rest for the wicked around here...

Anyway Luis and I did some errands and then I got a little crafty time so I have 2 cards to share.  First up is for Freshly Made Sketches.  This MFT bear is one of my favourite birthday images - probably because I wish he was delivering that gorgeous cake to me!  He's coloured with Copics, fussy cut and popped up on foam tape inside the stitched circle.  The background paper is from American Crafts.  I'm also going to play along with the No Toppings portion of the challenge over at Seize the Birthday.

My next card is for the Muse challenge.  I was inspired by the rose, colours, layers and die cut sentiment on Jenni's card.  The rose is from an NBUS Clearly Besotted set and the pink striped paper is from Doodlebug.  The sentiment is a combo of a Mama Elephant die and a Fresh Squeezed Stamps stamp.  I'm also going to enter it in the Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Hi there!  Hope you all had a lovely weekend.  Luis and I were busy running around doing errands so I didn't get much card making time.  I had some special orders to take care of and I managed to make this card based on the photo inspiration at Sparkle & Shine.  I used some NBUS Sweet Stamp Shop flowers and a jar die from Paper Smooches.  The sentiment is a Mama Elephant die which I love.  I'm also going to enter this in the Anything Goes challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More. I'm squeaking in at the last minute with a card for the new Sparkle and Shine challenge where it's all about the use of sequins.  I don't have any Pretty Pink Posh products yet but I'm sure some will find their way into my stash soon enough especially if I keep playing along with these gals.  I took the green elements and the luck of the four leaf clover as my inspiration from this picture and made a very simple shaker card.  I've been wanting to make one for ages so I'm glad this challenge finally kicked me into gear!  Hope you've all had a lovely day and I'll leave you with the view during my lunch time play date with Atticus…

Challengerama!

Good morning!  I've got three cards to share with you today for a multitude of challenges.  I had planned to post a few of them yesterday but time ran away from me last night.  Luis and I recently started watching "Sons of Anarchy" and decided to watch "just one" episode after dinner.  Unfortunately an episode of SOA is like a potato chip - you can't stop with one.  Next thing we knew it was after 11pm and time for bed!  So I'm playing catch up this morning...

This first card is for the Colour Me…! Monochromatic challenge.  I stamped the Altenew bear in Night of Navy ink and then did a touch of watercolouring using just the ink from the image.  I've seen a lot of people do this to amazing effect but this was my first time trying it.  Definitely need some more practice.

This second card is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  This is my first time playing along with them.  I played with some NBUS Paper Smooches stamps with the initial plan of making a masculine birthday card but this could really be used for any sort of celebration.  And maybe it's not so masculine as I got a bit carried away with the bling…

And speaking of getting carried away with the bling the centre of this card has a lot going on in the gem department although I must say it looks far more understated in the photo that it does in real life!  This card grew out of inspiration from four challenges.  I was initially inspired by Vicki's card over at Muse.  I'm not really into shaped cards but I liked the bullseye look of the circles. It immediately made me think of this Hero Arts stamp that I've had for ages.  I stamped it on 3 different Doodlebug papers and then fussy cut it and put it back together.  I also added some hugs and smooches just in case anyone questioned the theme of the card!  LOL!  The love theme is a big one this week and Curtain Call, Addicted to Stamps and Just Us Girls have all asked us to create with love in mind.

Hope Your Day Is Sweet

My wish for rain almost came true today as we woke up to thunder and lightning at 5:45am. Atticus did his guard dog duty and went tearing outside to tell off whoever was making all that noise. :)  Despite the noise and light show we only got a sprinkle of rain.  The rest of the day was just cloudy and muggy.  Good enough for staying in the Craft Cave though!  

I'm working on my special orders but I also took some time to play.  I combined a few challenges for this card.  The colours were taken from the latest Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger challenge.  As soon as I saw the inspiration photo I thought of these Doodlebug papers that have been languishing in my stash.  I paired them up with the sketch from the Fusion challenge and used stamps from the Sweet Stamp Shop - I'll be joining their Use What You Have Challenge since my papers are from 2005!

Best Friends Forever

Hi there!  I've got a bright and cheery card today for the Embellish challenge.  I really pushed myself to go out of my comfort zone here.  I find that I tend to be very literal when it comes to colours (leaves are always green, the sun is always yellow, etc).  Red and yellow together make me think of ketchup and mustard and therefore, burgers and hot dogs! LOL!  However, I managed to steer away from the food images and I'm pleased with where I ended up.  I used some Basic Grey and Doodlebug patterned papers for the flower and frame along with one of the awesome sentiments from Market Street Stamps' Great Big Greetings.  I really had fun with this in the end and am definitely going to try and relax a bit more in the colour department in the future.
