Flowers and a Tree

Hello hello!  I've made cards for quite a few challenges lately but then never got around to posting them so I am determined to stop that trend right now.  First up is a card for the current RetroSketches challenge.  I didn't stray far from the design at all and, as always, I was proud of myself for using so much patterned paper.  The flowers are Paper Smooches and the sentiment is Altenew.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Chocolate Chip) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Reunion 6x6) My Mind's Eye
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Birthday Greetings) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Die:  (Flowers & leaves) Paper Smooches, (Small scalloped border) Papertrey Ink
Gems:  Doodlebug

This next card is for the Cupcake Inspirations Trees challenge.  I went really CAS for this sympathy card and used some stamps that haven't seen ink in a long time (and sadly are no longer available).  The tree is from WPlus9 and the sentiment is from Fresh Squeezed Stamps.

That's it for now.  Back tomorrow with a few more cards!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Elegant Eggplant) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Tree from Funky Foliage) WPlus9, (Shadow from Shadows) Paper Smooches, (Sentiment from Tickle My Fancy) Fresh Squeezed Stamps

Back with Kitties, a Bear and Christmas!

Hi there!  I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last posted.  I needed to take some time to sort out family and work stuff and ended up taking a total crafting and social media break.  It was a bit weird at first but I'm glad I did it and am now ready to get back to crafting and catching up with what everyone's been up to.

Despite a slow start and feeling pretty rusty after being away for so long I've got cards for 4 challenges to share.  First up is for the Newton's Nook Burlap &/or Lace challenge.  I used some DCWV burlap and an MFT oval die to create a rug for these two sweet kitties to snuggle up on.  The paw prints in the background were stamped with VersaMark ink to add a bit of interest.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Textured White) Bazzill, (White) Papertrey Ink, (Bermuda Bay) Stampin' Up, (Burlap) DCWV
Stamps:  (All from Newton's Antics) Newton's Nook
Ink:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Stitched Arch, Oval Shadows) My Favourite Things
Markers:  (RV21, Y38, YR16, C1, C3) Copic

Next up is a card using the colours from Cupcake Inspirations and a frame for Seize the Birthday.  How cute are these MFT birthday bears?  I added some Glossy Accents to the balloon for shine and used my first Pretty Pink Posh sequins - I love those little tiny ones!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Textured White) Bazzill, (White) Papertrey Ink, (Poppy Parade, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Beary Special Birthday) My Favourite Things
Ink:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Dies:  (Scalloped Frame) Winnie & Walter, (Stitched rectangle) Mama Elephant
Markers:  (R17, G00, E31, E43, 100) Copic
Sequins:  (Sparkling Clear) Pretty Pink Posh
Other:  (Glossy Accents) Ranger

Finally is a simple card using the design at RetroSketches.  I was so excited to actually use some baker's twine.  Yay for digging into neglected stash!  The sentiment is Winnie & Walter and the ornaments are Essentials by Ellen.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Ornaments from Christmas Scribbles) Essentials by Ellen, (Christmas from The Big, the Bold &  the Merry) Winnie & Walter
Ink:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Dashed rectangle) Avery Elle, (Merry) Winnie & Walter
Twine:  (Charcoal) The Twinery

Scoops of Thanks

I'm so excited that Blogger has finally stopped tormenting me and is letting me upload photos again.  I was not a happy bunny on Monday...

I've got a bright and yummy card to share today.  I used the design from the current RetroSketches challenge and the colours from last week's ColourQ challenge.  I loved the colours and didn't get a chance to play along but I thought I'd put them to use anyway - they gave me the perfect excuse to christen these Reverse Confetti dies and stamps.  I love this ice cream die - such a fun shape and it looks good enough to eat!  I tried a few different cardstocks before I settled on vellum for the centre panel - everything else just covered up too much of those happy stripes.  That makes my card eligible for the Just Us Girls vellum challenge so I'm playing along with them too.

That's it for now.  Have a lovely day!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Peach Parfait, Vellum) Stampin' Up

Embossing Powder:  (Clear) Hero Arts

Honey, I Love You

I've just got one card to share today for the current RetroSketches challenge.  Another Valentine card to add to my ever growing stash.  I don't think I've ever been so prepared for a card giving occasion before!  This one uses Reverse Confetti stamps, Sweet Stamp Shop and Mama Elephant dies and some Simple Stories paper.  It came together really quickly which doesn't happen very often.  The bee is fussy cut and popped up and he and the heart both have a lick of clear Wink of Stella on them.  That's it for now.  See you tomorrow with two more cards!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Basic Black) Stamping' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Snap Life 6x6) Simple Stories

Butterflies and Valentines

Hello and happy Friday!  I've got 7 cards to share with you after a busy few hours in the Craft Cave yesterday.  First up is my entry for The Paper Players colour challenge.  I have to say that I struggled with this one especially the bright pink and red. I finally had a breakthrough though when I came across this My Cute Stamps set.  I stamped the circles to create an abstract sky and then I stamped, coloured, fussy cut and popped up the butterfly.  The sentiment is from CAS-ual Fridays.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Butterfly & circles from Miss You) My Cute Stamps
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Dashed panel) Avery Elle
Gems:  Recollections

This next card started by using the current sketch over at RetroSketches.  I'm also going to enter this in the Addicted to Stamps and More Anything Goes challenge.  I love this Lawn Fawn set for Valentine's cards.  All the little images are adorable.  So adorable in fact that I made 6 cards using each of the images and their matching sentiments.

CASology #165

Welcome to Week 165 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

My card this week was inspired by the design over at RetroSketches.  I used a partial circle die cut and the butterfly has lots of little circles on it's wings.  To keep the design from getting too busy I left the image uncolored and just outlined it to make it pop a little.  This cue card has lots of room for interoperation so I hope to see plenty of you playing along.  Be sure to check out the gorgeous creations from the design team and then get to work!

And this week's guest designer:

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember that the deadline for entries is Monday at noon (CST).

Hot Dogs & Cupcakes

As promised, I'm back with two more cards for you.  First up is an entry for the current RetroSketches challenge.  This Paper Smooches hot dog has been in the back of my mind for a while (no idea why!) and when I came across this CAS-ual Fridays sentiment a lightbulb went off.  Enter a Lawn Fawn party hat & speech bubble die and a Mama Elephant birthday sentiment and this goofy little card was born!  It's completely silly but it makes me giggle.  :)

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Hot dog from Al Fresco) Paper Smooches, (Party hat from Hats Off to You) Lawn Fawn, (Hot dignity from Exclamations) CAS-ual Fridays, (It's your birthday from Say What) Mama Elephant
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Die:  (Speech Bubble Border) Lawn Fawn

Mother's Day is fast approaching and I decided that the colour combo over at the Cupcake Inspirations challenge was perfect to get me motivated to start making some mom cards.  I used Altenew's Vintage Roses and a CAS-ual Fridays sentiment for this simple CAS card.  I love these flowers but I find that my Mother's Day cards always seem to have either flowers or butterflies on them.  How about you?  Any other ideas for moms?

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Flowers & leaves from Vintage Roses) Altenew, (Sentiment from Mum's the Word) CAS-ual Fridays
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder, Concord Crush) Stampin' Up

2 Birthdays

Hello and happy Friday!  I've got 2 cards to share today.  I haven't played along with the Runway Inspired Challenge in ages but I finally managed to join in this week.  I think my inspiration is pretty clear.  ;)  I wanted to let the stripes be the stars of the show so I kept the sentiment simple.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Poppy Parade, Smokey Slate, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Halftone Hello) Altenew
Inks: (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Happy) Mama Elephant, (Stitched Stripes) Lil' Inker Designs
Gems:  Recollections

Card number 2 is for the current RetroSketches challenge. It's a great sketch for using up some patterned paper scraps.  I was inspired by Tracey's card where she let her patterned paper shine. That's it for me today.  I'm off to do the food shopping and then get this house cleaned up!  Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Hello Honey) Stampin' Up

Drowning in Patterned Paper

Despite the fact that I primarily consider myself a CAS carmaker, I really love patterned paper.  A lot.  Especially those little 6x6 paper pads.  They're just so cute and perfect and square and sit so nicely on my shelf.  I flip through them and admire the patterns and then put them back and stamp a card.  But now I really have to get using those papers because I might have gone on a bit of a bender at the i {heart} papers closing sale…  I mean come on, they were 50% off!!  How's a gal supposed to resist that especially when I've been really good in the shopping department for the last few months.  I couldn't fight it and now my 6x6 shelf is double stacked. Oy vey!  So this card for the current RetroSketches challenge is my start at using that paper.  At this rate it may take me 20 years to use it all so if I have to lock myself away in the Craft Cave more often so be it.  I'll accept that lot in life!  :D

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Bermuda Bay, Chocolate Chip) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Sweet & Sour Soup 6x6) Jillibean Soup
Stamps:  (Typewriter & sentiment from Just My Type) Lawn Fawn
Ink: (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko

Balloons and Bread

Good evening!  I have a couple of cards to share today.  The first card is a last minute entry for the current Fusion challenge and also for the shades of blue challenge at The Male Room.  I was inspired by both the photo and the sketch at the Fusion challenge.  I used two different blue woodgrain papers for the balloons to keep the feel of the card masculine for The Male Room.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Midnight Muse) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (On The Bright Side) My Mind's Eye
Stamps:  (Happy from Super Script) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Dies:  (Balloons) Simon Says Stamp, (Birthday) Papertrey Ink
Twine:  Darice

My second card uses the colours from the current ColourQ challenge and the sketch from RetroSketches. Valentine's Day is fast approaching and this (retired) Sweet Stamp Shop set is one of my favourites for the occasion.  It's gotten progressively colder, windier and rainier as the day has gone by which means the snow and nasty weather on the East Coast must be ramping up as well.  Hang in there and stay safe and warm!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Kraft_) Papertrey Ink), (Coastal Cabana, Chocolate Chip) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Perfect Match) Sweet Stamp Shop
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Strawberry Slush) Stampin' Up
Dies:  (Stitched Squares) Lil' Inker
Gems:  (Bon Bon assortment) Doodlebug
Markers:  (R85, E35, E77) Copic
