Paper Pieced Thank You

Hello, Monday!  It's a chilly windy day here today - a perfect day to hunker down in the Craft Cave once I've gotten a few errands done.  This little card is my entry for the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge to use kraft.  When I paper pieced this Purple Onion Designs image I decided it popped better on a kraft card base than on a white one.  The papers are from Simple Stories.  Hope you all have a fabulous day!

Framed Love

Good morning!  Popping in quickly before I jet off to work to share a card for the Addicted To CAS Love challenge and The Card Concept challenge to use monochromatic pink.  There is something about Purple Onion Designs stamps that just make me want to paper piece.  The images are so perfect for it - fun layers and doodley sweetness!  I used some Echo Park papers here and added a few little gems just to highlight the sentiment. This card falls nicely into the Clean and Simple category at The Card Concept.  Hope you have a wonderful day and that 5 o'clock arrives quickly!

ETA:  I meant to also link this up to the Simon Says Wednesday Have a Heart challenge!

Hearts Banner

More love and more pink today!  I'm playing along with Seize the Sketch and the banner made me think of these Purple Onion Designs hearts.  I love their sweet and doodley feel.  In fact all the Stephanie Ackerman designs at POD are super cute!  I used some Echo Park paper and felt very virtuous about dipping into my stash.  (Cue halo, spotlight and choir!)  Now I just need to keep up the trend…

CASology #66

Welcome to Week 66 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

Just like with harvest images I seem to have a shortage of pumpkin images.  I considered using a pie image (pumpkin pie is my favourite!) or even a coffee image (pumpkin spice latte anyone?) but then I stumbled on this sweet little Purple Onion Designs pumpkin and had to use it!  Then I fount PTI's Tiny Treats: Halloween which had the perfect sentiment. (It also has a pumpkin but I thought this one was cuter.)  :D  The DT ladies have presented their usual array of fantastic creations so check them out and then play along!

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember submissions are due by 4pm CST on Sunday, 20 October.

Inspired Flowers

Hi there!  I'm playing along with Muse and ColourQ with this card.  I was inspired by the layout of Laurie's card and also by the rolled flowers - Laurie always rocks them!  While I like the look of the rolled flowers I wanted my card to have a bit less bulk.  I trimmed each layer of these Purple Onion Design flowers and attached them with some glue dots so they still have a bit of dimension.  Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

CAS(E) This Sketch #20

Welcome to Week 20 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch designed by Jackie Rockwell:

Purple Onion Designs stamps are some of my favourite for paper piecing and I love the doodley feel of these designs.  Because of the pocket on the sketch I knew I wanted to use the denim patterned paper for the pot.  It just seemed like the right thing to do!  Be sure and pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch blog and check out the rest of the gorgeous designs by the team and then play along!  Can't wait to see what you come up with!

CAS(E) This Sketch #13

Welcome to Week 12 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch designed by Karolyn Loncon:

More of my current favourite cardstock - Stampin' Up's Basic Grey!  I love how the Melon Mambo embossed with white pops off of it.  As for the stamps, I must do some rearranging in the Craft Cave because I always seem to forget about my Purple Onion Designs stamps. For some reason they're stored off on their own and so they get rather neglected.  These Noteblock stamps are so much fun and they always emboss so well.  They work great as a background or a focal point and there's one for every season.  Can't wait to see what you all come up with for this week's sketch.  Be sure to check out all the gorgeous inspiration on the CAS(E) This Sketch! blog and then get to work!

Candy Cane Madness & Heat Tool Drama

Hi there!  Popping in with an entry for the latest challenge at Jay Gee's Nook.  The photo inspiration collages are always gorgeous although I don't play along as often as I'd like.  This time I was inspired by the middle picture on the right side - love that candy cane inspired comforter!  I pulled out a few different stamp companies for this one - the noteblock is Purple Onion Designs, the candy cane is Neat and Tangled and the bow is Papertrey Ink.

This is one of the last cards I made before my heat gun died.  :( For 5 years I've had an EK Success Colourizer and I loved it!  It had two heat settings and was super quick to melt embossing powder.  I noticed it was starting to slow down a bit recently though so I tried to order a new one.  Unfortunately they don't seem to make them anymore so I ordered a Ranger heat tool.  I'm glad I did as it was here and ready to use when the Colourizer died but I'm not impressed with it.  It takes forever to melt the powder and it seems to only work when placed at one very specific angle to the paper.  It's really put me off heat embossing now as it takes so long.  :(  Any recommendations on other brands?

CASology #15

Welcome to Week 15 of CASology!  Here's the cue card for this week:

This was a complete nightmare to photograph with all that black embossing!  I used my Distress Inks to create the moon and embossed the creepy tree on it and then embossed the sentiment strip.  I tried embossing the sentiment strip in white and then on a yellow strip but those things seemed to take away from the impact of the moon so I kept it simple and just embossed the sentiment in black.  Your turn now!  Check out the rest of the design team's creations and then get creating!

Just Us Girls #151

Good morning and welcome to my final week as Guest Designer for Just Us Girls.  I've had such a fun time playing along and want to thank the JUGS ladies for inviting me to be a part of such a great team for the last 4 weeks!  This week we have a photo inspiration challenge.  I was drawn to the tea cups and tea pot and was planning to use the soft pastel colours of the photo as well - but then I got side tracked.  The sentiment made me think of starting the morning with a nice cuppa and that made me think of a sunrise which led me to the medallions.  (It made sense in my brain anyway...) So where will your brain take you when you look at this picture?  Pop over to the JUGS blog to see the gorgeous gallery from the Design Team and then play along!  You have until 9pm EST on Thursday, 30 August.

I'm also going to enter this at the Focal Point Challenge at the Moxie Fab World.

Love Lives Here

Good morning!  Popping in to play along with The Paper Players' clean and simple paper piecing challenge - I love me some paper piecing!  I needed a new home card for some friends and these Purple Onion Designs stamps by Stephanie Ackerman were the perfect fit!

I was so excited yesterday to see a waterspout!  I know we have them around here fairly regularly but this was the first time I'd seen one for myself and not on tv or in the newspaper.  It was surreal though because I was standing on my dock in the bright sunshine and off in the distance the sky was black and this skinny little waterspout was gliding along.  So cool!

CASology #3

Wowsers!!  100 entries for our Happy challenge at CASology last week!  There were so many fantastic cards submitted and I really had a hard time with picking my favourite. Thank you all for making my job difficult and keep those entries coming!  LOL!

Here's the cue card for this week:

The orange images and sentiment are from Purple Onion Designs and I confess that they've been sitting uninked for almost a year now.  Thanks to Melissa for giving me a reason to dig them out and use them!  I used a rug stamp from Paper Smooches Vogue Abode set to create the shadow under the oranges so they didn't look like they were just floating in midair.  And, of course, I threw in some gems.  :)  Go check out the other ladies on the team to see their fabulous takes on the cue word:

Also our fabulous Guest Designer:

And when you're done with that get to work on your entry for this week!  Link up your creations at the CASology blog and remember that submissions are due by Sunday, 29 July at noon CST.

Beautiful Day for a Baby

It is a beautiful day as my best friend is having her first baby today!  I am so excited to meet her little girl and I know that Sara and Robert are going to be amazing parents.  I used the colours from The Play Date Cafe for my card along with stamps from Market Street Stamps (background), Purple Onion Designs (flowers) and Unity (sentiment).  I'm really loving that argyle background from MSS.  It seems to be sneaking onto a lot of cards lately.  :)

Since I'm on the subject of Sara I also wanted to show you the card I made for her baby shower.
Sara and Robert are keeping the baby's name hush hush until she makes her debut so in the meantime Luis has named the baby Chica.  My darling husband is terrible at remembering names.  Apparently every pet he ever had growing up was named either Chico or Chica - nice and simple.  He also occasionally uses the name for his millions of cousins. It's his go to name.  Anyway it seems to have stuck for the baby because Robert has even slipped and called her that once or twice.  Tee hee!  Can't wait to present them with a pink Chica onesie!!

How've You Bean?

My attempts to complete a CAS-ual Fridays entry before 10pm on a Wednesday night continue to be thwarted.  I was called in to work last minute yesterday and so lost my most productive crafty day of the week.  I did manage to get a card made this afternoon though so I am squeaking it in at the last minute once again!  This is the first time I've used that Paper Smooches coffee cup although I don't know why I waited so long.  I love it and it's so perfect for paper piecing!  I have no idea who makes those fun patterned papers as they came in a grab bag that I bought.  I especially love the orange sheet and wish I had more!  The sentiment is from Purple Onion Designs' Coffee & Tea Set.  Simon Says Stamp is having another Anything Goes Challenge - sponsored by Paper Smooches no less - so I'm going to enter this over there as well.  I really could use a gift certificate!  :D

Embellish Is Back!

After a little hiatus the Embellish challenge is back and this time they've given us spring colours to go along with a spring theme.  And, of course, now that I'm looking at my card on screen next to the Embellish colours I see that my darker pink is waaaay off.  Hmmm...  It's going to have to do for now though as I am in my usual state of Thursday night knackeredness and am not going to be fixing it before the deadline.  Clearly I was having eye issues yesterday!!  Perhaps I'll put in a fresh pair of contact lenses before the next challenge...
