Heartsong

Today I snuck away from my gargantuan To Do list for a while and spent some time in the Craft Cave.  I decided to play along with the latest sketch challenge at Skipping Stones Design and to try and use some patterned paper.  Unfortunately those polka dots overwhelm the sweet sentiment:
"A friend is someone who sings your heart's song back to you when you have forgotten the words." David Coppola
I may go back to it at some point and try and rework it so you can read it.  For now though I like the colours - not ones I'd normally put together - so I thought I'd let it have it's moment in the sun.

Type Hype

Cath found a really fun vintage typewriter for the latest Tuesday Trigger at the Moxie Fab World.  I was inspired by the colourful keys and the way they seem to float above the typewriter so I popped my letters up on thick foam tape.  I added PTI's Book Print impression plate in the background for some extra texture.

The thank you is for all of you who left such sweet and thoughtful comments regarding the loss of Jem.  Luis and I were really touched by all your well wishes.  I still keep expecting Jem to come bounding around the corner with his goofy smile.  I think it's going to be a while before that feeling fades.

Just Us Girls #149

Hi all.  I'm back for my second week as August Guest Designer for Just Us Girls.  It's technique week and this time we are to use ribbon scraps.  I don't usually use much ribbon on my cards (despite how much of it is in the Craft Cave) so this was a good challenge for me.  I ended up making two different cards and using my ribbon scraps in different ways. For the first card I layered the scraps behind a die cut negative and for the second I stamped on the ribbon itself.  I used StazOn ink when I stamped on the ribbon so the ink wouldn't run and was pleased with how crisp the images ended up.  Head on over to the Just Us Girls blog to check out all the gorgeous creations from the JUGS team and then play along!  You have until 9pm EST on Thursday, 16 August!

CASology #5

Welcome to week 5 of CASology!  Here's the cue card for this week:

The word "pond" made me think of frogs, ducks and dragonflies.  After going through all my stamps and rejecting the few frog images I had I happened upon this Pink Paislee dragonfly stamp from a Moxie Fab prize package.  The blue circle and the blues and greens in general echo the pond theme and the repeating shapes keep the design simple.

Be sure and check out the rest of the fabulous design team for more inspiration:

And also this week's guest designer:

Link up your creations at the Casology blog and remember that submissions are due by Sunday, 12 August at noon CST.
