Striped Sky

I'm playing along with the challenge at Your Next Stamp to use stripes.  I used the EBE Skinny Stripes die to create my sky which I love because it adds some fun texture to the card.  I coloured and popped up this cutie pie YNS kitty on foam tape to float along on top of it and added a PTI cloud for some balance.  The sentiment is from Avery Elle.

Hoping you're all doing well in lockdown.  As of Saturday Bermuda will slowly start easing restrictions.  There will still be an overnight curfew but all retail stores and restaurants will now be able to open for curbside and delivery services.  Yay!  Even more exciting we can now exercise further from home!  Up until now we were only allowed outside for exercise within a half mile of our homes.  Chica will be so excited to have some new walking routes and LOTS of new sniffs.

While the lockdown and restrictions have been stressful for everyone I'm grateful for the course our government has taken with navigating this pandemic.  Saturday is the start of a 4 phase reopening plan with no current time limit on any phase - it will depend on how things progress as there is more interaction.  Our Premier has been calm, measured and informed throughout the whole process.  No one knows exactly what the future holds but I appreciate feeling like we have a strong and level-headed leader.

I'm continuing to have fun with the old chipboard pieces I dug up recently. CASology #367

Welcome to Week 367 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

It seems like unicorns are the only "magical" creatures in my stamp collection.  I don't seem to have any mermaids or fairies or gnomes or dragons at least that I could find with a quick skim through anything.  So a unicorn it is for me this week and this one I find particularly hilarious.  It actually motivated me to pull out my collection of Rabbit Hole caffeinated critters and make use of them.  I'll share more of them in future posts.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Peas Love Happiness

Today's card combines the sketch from the Paper Players along with the Paper Smooches Happy Things challenge.  Those peas are from one of the very first Paper Smooches releases and the polka dot paper is from an old Cosmo Cricket collection.  I even used a Corner Chomper to create the rounded corners on the kraft panel.  I brought out all the antiques for this one - I knew I'd kept everything for a reason!

All Squared Up Hello

This card is for the Colour Throwdown and CAS(E) This Sketch challenges.  I took a little liberty with the sketch (perhaps a little too much) and made it a landscape card instead of a portrait layout.  I stamped this fun patterned stamp from Avery Elle onto different colours of cardstock and then fussy cut them and adhered them to the card base.  The hello is a Paper Smooches die and I chose this one because I wanted a soft, round font to contrast with the sharp, geometric edges of the pattern.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green Night of Navy, Crumb Cake) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All fromAll Squared Up) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Die:  (Hello) Paper Smooches

Hennah Hello

I've got a card for three challenges today - CAS Colours & Sketches, Freshly Made Sketches and Simon Says Wednesday challenge (Flower Power).  This Hennah Elements flower from Altenew is one I return to again and again.  I seem to always paper piece it with coloured cardstock but it just seems to lend itself so well to that.  If it ain't broke...

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight, Emerald Envy, Pacific Point) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Hennah Elements) Altenew

Take Flight

When I was digging around through my old 12x12 patterned paper collections I found a whole pile of chipboard shapes and letters and thought it would be fun to make some quick cards with them.  This one if for the AAA Cards Sketch challenge which had the optional twist of "It flies".  This dragonfly paired nicely with this old Papertrey Ink sentiment and I used a coloured card base to give it a little extra oomph without being too busy.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Wisteria Wonder) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Happy Trails) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Chipboard:  (Dragonfly from Offbeat collection) Basic Grey

Umbrellas and Rain

I haven't played along with Darnell's Twofer Card Challenge since the very first one - feathers.  Now she's up to challenge #26 and I decided I had to join in again.  There are so many DT cards and entries with very clever uses of rain and/or umbrellas.  I've not been very clever though and have just gone super CAS making a friendship card and an encouragement card using some old Lawn Fawn sets that were feeling neglected.  Looking at them now I'm afraid they might be too similar but I'm going to enter them anyway and endeavor to get more creative with the next challenge!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Coud, rain, umbrella and "weather" sentiment from Partly Cloudy, "Awesome" sentiment  from So Much To Say) Lawn Fawn
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Pale Tomato, Orange Soda, Butter Bar, Green Hills, Pool, Stone Wash, Soft Granite) Hero Arts

Trio of Challenges

I'm playing along with three challenges with this card - Addicted to Stamps and More, My Favourite Things Wednesday Sketch challenge and Seize the Birthday (Spring Fling).  I had trouble finding a dusty rose colour (like in the Addicted to Stamps photo) in my usual cardstock stash so I dug up some older DCWV textured paper cardstock and found just what I needed.  I used a Paper Smooches border die to create the pale pink swoosh shape and turned to my favourite MFT flower for a pop of yellow.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight, Smokey Slate, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up, (Light pink, dark pink) DCWV
Stamps:  (Flower & leaves from Tropical Flower, Sentiment from Beach Buds) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Cement Gray) My Favourite Things
Die:  (Borders 1) Paper Smooches
Punch:  (5/16" hole punch) McGill
Other:  (Nuvo Ebony Black Crystal Drops) Tonic, (Glossy Accents) Ranger

Leaves and Stripes

I've got a couple of cards inspired by the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge.  I'm pretty sure I haven't used these gorgeous leaf stamps from Altenew before.  I've been struggling with the CASC&S sketch all week and while looking for a different stamp today I came across this one and had an "Aha!" moment.  I inked them up with my little used ombre Hero Arts ink pads and am excited with the results!

Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink

Caffeinated Shark

Tonight I have a card for Darnell's NBUS challenge and another card for the Colour Throwdown challenge.  I have a whole bunch of these caffeinated critters from The Rabbit Hole Designs and so far I've only used one of them.  Definitely time to remedy that situation!  I love the sentiment that goes with this shark (Hello, Jaws!) although the movie definitely inflicted some damage on my psyche as a child.  Because he needs a bigger cup I thought it would be funny if I tucked him into this Lil' Inker Designs mug.  Some mornings I feel like I could definitely do with a coffee mug that size!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black) Stampin; Up
Stamps:  (Shark & sentiment from Caffeinated Shark) The Rabbit Hole Designs, (Shadow) Paper Smooches

Plaid Baby Welcome

I've got two cards today for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  I haven't made any baby cards in ages and this sketch also looked like a good opportunity to use some more patterned paper.  I've combined a Simon Says Stamp die cut sentiment with a Hero Arts teddy bear and some MFT (pink) and Lawn Fawn (blue) patterned papers.

Our lockdown has been extended for two more weeks but it looks like a few retail stores (hardware, garden supplies & pet supplies) will be able to open for limited hours starting next week.  Hooray!  It's been so frustrating to be home knowing there's a million projects we could be working on if we just had the supplies.  Fingers crossed we'll be able to get a few things accomplished in the next couple of weeks.

Hope you're all staying safe and well!

Banners & butterfly

I've got a card tonight for CAS(E) This Sketch and the Colour Throwdown.  I actually already had these little banners on my desk wand just needed to decide what to add to them.  This butterfly die hasn't seen much action in a while so I thought I'd break it out and dust it off.  The sentiment is from Fresh Squeezed Stamps and is one of my favourite "thinking of you" sentiments.  The butterfly is popped up on some very tiny pieces of foam tape to give it some dimension.  Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe out there!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Cherry Cobbler, Smokey Slate, Basic Grey, Basic Black) Stampin' Up

CASology #366

Welcome to Week 366 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Being a Leo I had to go for a lion card today and it gave me an excuse to ink up this adorable MFT stamp.  I paper pieced him with some coloured cardstock which was fun.  I used to paper piece everything with cardstock back in the day because I hated to colour.  I spent waaaaaay too much time doing very fiddly fussy cutting although I always liked the dimension it added to the images.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!
