Tuesday Trigger: A Burst of Blooms

I love the bright coloured crocheted flowers in this week's Tuesday Trigger inspiration picture at Moxie Fab.

This is one of the rare times when I've looked at a challenge and known right away what I wanted to do.  My colours ended up slightly more muted than those in the picture - that's what happens when you base your colour choice off a poor print out instead of the picture on the computer screen!  One day there will be a laptop in the Craft Cave so I can avoid this issue...  :)  I punched holes in my flowers to mimic the crocheting and I cut one edge of the card along the flower shapes to match the edge of the blanket.

Musical Frog

The weather was totally wild today!  This morning was calm but a bit grey and then by 9am there were gale force winds and lashing rains that continued on and off through the early afternoon.  By 6:30pm it was still windy but bright sunshine and not a cloud to be seen.  Crazy.  The hounds hibernated on the sofas ALL DAY!  They didn't venture outside until about 6pm.  They really have a tough life...  They weren't the only ones seeking shelter either.  I came across a huge wolf spider on the bathroom wall this evening!  I haven't seen one in ages and, while I jumped when I saw him, he really was quite beautiful.  Luis was all set to clobber it with his shoe but I rescued him and took him outside.  They eat roaches and flies and stuff so as far as I'm concerned they're good guys (even if they are big and hairy!).

Today's card is for The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge #102.

I was in the mood for a froggy so I busted out my Penny Black froggy stamps (last seen here).  I paired him with some paper from K & Co and I think he's pretty cute!  Could even work as a guy card I think...

A Blissful Day in the Craft Cave

Thankfully there were no emergency calls from work today.  Whoo hoo!   Instead I spent a blissful day in the Craft Cave.  I pulled out Crate Paper's Sweet Branch paper collection to make a card for this week's JUGS sketch challenge and ended up with 4 cards.

This is the actual card for the challenge.

And these are the other 3 I came up with.

The paper collection came with a sheet of die cuts, a set of brads and a few ribbons.  Lots of Glossy Accents and a bit of Stickles going on with these cards which, unfortunately, you can't really see in the pictures.  They're shiny and sparkly in real life though!  :)

A gorgeous day today after a weekend of strong north winds.  We actually had to pull the space heaters back out last night.  I thought we'd seen the last of them for a while but no such luck.  It will probably be chilly tonight too as it's been such a clear day.  The hounds spent most of the day sunbathing although they got up for a couple of games of ball and at one point I caught Jem stalking a bird!  LOL!  Maybe he was a cat in his past life...  Must try and get a picture of that - he looked hilarious!

Have a great evening!

Soapbox Creations Challenge

The lovely and talented Laurie of Soapbox Creations has come up with a fun CASEing challenge.  We are to find inspiration from another card - but not a crafty card - a store bought one.  I felt a bit like a spy skulking around the card aisle at the drug store and taking photos of cards!  Here's the card I chose and my take on it:

Supplies: Stamps: Paper Source & Hero Arts; Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black & SU Pacific Point;  Copics; McGill Craftivity punch
I liked the bright colours and the grid patterns of the store card.  I didn't stray very far from it with my CASE but I like the end result!  :)

The rain held off until the move was finished thank goodness.  Now it's yucky and cold and windy so I think we're going to hunker down on the sofa for a bit and watch a movie - if we can squeeze in with the dogs that is!

Sunset & Colour Throwdown #135

****2nd Post of the Day****

The sky was gorgeous and stormy last night with a blazing orange sunset.  Lots of rain and thunder overnight which cleared the humidity - thank goodness!  Today has been sunny but windy.  Hopefully it will stay nice tomorrow as Luis and I are helping a friend move apartments - never a fun task in the rain!
A quick, little card here for Colour Throwdown # 135.  I have a little set of Making Memories flowers and buttons which were the perfect colours for this challenge.  I especially love the dotty flowers.  :)

Supplies: Card Blank: Handy Hippo; Stamps: Autumn Leaves & Hero Arts;  Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black; Buttons & Flowers: Making Memories; Embroidery Thread: DMC

Easter Wishes

The colours for ColourQ Challenge #78 are very sweet and girlie - ie not me!!  I was going to give this week a miss but I've missed their last 2 challenges so I thought I'd suck it up and go girlie!  :)  I went for an Easter theme after finding these wooden rabbits in the Craft Cave.  They came from the UK (I think my mom bought them for me when she was over there a couple of years ago) but I'm not sure who makes them.  They're cute and surprisingly light and I have some flower shapes as well.  You may see some more of them in the near future!

Supplies:  CS: SU Early Espresso & Pink Pirouette, PTI Kraft; Stamps: Hero Arts & Elzybells;  Thread: Making Memories; Unknown:  Bunny & buttons
