Purple Birthday Flower

Hello!

I've got a card today for two challenges - the MFT Sketch challenge and the Just Add Ink photo inspiration challenge.  I used the colours from the JAI photo as inspiration and inked up this MFT flower with a good old rock and roll technique.  I really like the richness of the Catherine Pooler ink colours - so gorgeous!  I used yellow Crystal Drops in the center of the flower but they soaked up some of the ink and turned a really cool coral colour.  Love those happy accidents!

Sweater Kitty

Hi there!

I have a card today for 3 challenges - CAS Colours & Sketches, Colour Throwdown and Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.  I think this is the first time I've inked up this particular Newton's Nook kitty.  He's so adorable in his cozy little sweater!  The Newton stamp set actually comes with this same sentiment but the words are stacked and I needed them in a line.  Thankfully Neat & Tangled came to the rescue!  I ended up making two of the same card and just reversing the colours.  Slowly slowly the Christmas card stash is growing!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Textured white, light  blue) Bazzill, (Dark blue) Paperbilities, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Cat from Sweater Weather) Newton's Nook, (Sentiment from Winter Wishes) Neat & Tangled

Hippo Bird-Day

Hi there!

I've got a card today for the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge.  I have a pile of paint chips sitting on my desk and thought they'd be fun to use to make some ombre stripes.  I coloured my critters with Copics, added some glitter to the party hat and gift and popped them up on some foam tape for a bit of dimension.

Pink Birthday Butterfly

Good morning!

I have a simple card today for Freshly Made Sketches.  I haven't used these PTI butterflies in ages so I had some fun playing with them this weekend.  I used Altenew inks because the small ink pads come in gorgeous ombre sets which make using layering stamps so easy.  I love them!  I paired it with some flags and a sentiment from MFT and added a few gems for some bling.  Easy peasy!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose, Basic Grey, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Butterfly from Beautiful Butterflies and Beautiful Butterfly Layers) Papertrey Ink, (sentiment from Essential Sentiments) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko, (Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, Ruby Red) Altenew
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow

Striped Succulents

Hello there!

Hurricane Humphrey was a little feistier than we expected but thankfully, while there were buildings damaged, roofs lost and trees destroyed, there were no fatalities.  We're now keeping an eye on Jerry as he approaches.  At the moment he's a tropical storm but is aiming for a direct hit on Tuesday.  We'll see what he does between now and then.

In the meantime I have a card for two challenges - CAS(e) This Sketch and Time Out.  I love the Skinny Stripes die from Ellen Hutson - It makes such a great background and adds some texture too.  I had these MFT succulents sitting on my desk all coloured and ready to go so I happily put them to use.  I made two cards with the stripes in different directions.  Which do you prefer the horizontal or vertical?

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Sweet Succulents) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black, Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Skinny Stripes) Essentials by Ellen

Pre-Hurricane Card

Hi there!

I've got a card today for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge using some Woodware stamps that I've had forever.  They're coloured with Copics, fussy cut and popped up on foam tape.  Nice and simple!

I figured I'd get this card in before Hurricane Humberto arrives.  Overnight he got upgraded to a Cat 3 but at the moment there's not supposed to be a direct hit - he should pass to our northeast.  Still pretty close though so cross your fingers for us!

Here's a couple of photos from last evening when I took Chica for her walk:

Chica was unfazed by the weather - she was too busy making a new friend:

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Textured White, textured red) Bazzill
Stamps:  (Tree, star, sentiment from various sets) Woodware

Markers:  (R27, Y15, G14, E35) Copic
Glitter:  (Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss) Tonic

CASology #352

Welcome to Week 352 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Despite the ridiculous size of my stamp collection I seem to have only 1 dragonfly image.  At least I think it's a dragonfly...  For the purposes of this challenge I say that it is!  :)  This guy is from the very first (I'm pretty sure)  stamp release from Paper Smooches.  His huge grin is so adorable isn't it?  I took a Simon Says sentiment and used it to create a subtle background for him and also stamped it in black to really stand out.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Link your creations to the CASology blog by Monday, 30 September (CDT).

Special Wishes Pup

Hello hello!

I'm continuing to work on Christmas cards since the holidays will be here in no time at all.  Today's card is for the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge to use a stamp (no digital images).  This little cutie is from Gerda Steiner and he's sitting atop an oldie but goodie Hero Arts sentiment.  He's coloured with Copics and popped up on some ancient Adornit paper.  I love this bit of paper and am sad that I've just cut into the final piece although I guess I should be proud that I'm using it instead of hoarding it!

Santa Paws

I've got a card today for two challenges - the MFT Sketch challenge and Addicted to Stamps and More Make Your Mark challenge.  This MFT set of Christmas pups is one of my faves.  They're so adorable and look ready for a cuddle!  I coloured this guy with Copics and used some of HOTP paper on the background.  There are Stickles on the white edges of his hat and some Glossy Accents on his nose.

Stand Out

Hi there!

Today I have a card for the Inspired by Words challenge at Time Out.  I took my inspiration from the word "rainbow" and created a rainbow of clouds for my unicorn (with her rainbow mane and tail) to perch on.  I love the sentiment - it makes for a great encouragement card.  I also like the sassy turn of her head.  She reminds me of Chica who often does the same!

Ham It Up

Hello hello!

I'm popping in today with a card for the Paper Players Down on the Farm challenge.  This little MFT piggy is so darn adorable and perfect for the challenge.  I steered away from my usual white card base here and had fun with some old My Mind's Eye papers and an ancient scallop border die from PTI.  I really must do that more often...

Colour Throwdown #559

Hi there!

I'm excited today to be playing along as the Guest Star Stamper at The Colour Throwdown! The colours are interpreted as navy, mustard/gold, coral/peach and cream.  I took my inspiration from the bouquet and pulled out Altenew's Simple Flowers to play with.  I created a background pattern and then added some Nuvo drops to the flower centers for a bit of dimension.  The sentiment is an oldie but goodie from Avery Elle.

I hope you'll check out the gorgeous creations from the Design Team and then play along.  You have until Monday, 9 September at 6pm Eastern.

CASology #351

Welcome to Week 351 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

This Katzelkraft ostrich always makes me giggle so I knew I had to use him for this week's cue word.  I decided he'd make the perfect dapper dude with a bit of a saucy side to him.  :D The Tim Holtz hat fit him beautifully and I always feel a sense of accomplishment whenever I use a bit of ribbon - no matter how tiny!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!
