CASology #311

Welcome to Week 311 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

My brain flipped and flopped for ages over this cue word but I kept coming back to flipping houses.  I know acquiring a new home is not the same as flipping a house but I decided the house purchased in this instance was a flipped house.  Sometimes I just have to go where my crazy brain takes me.  :)

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Fetching You

Hello hello!

I've got a card for two challenges today - Addicted to Stamps and More (Anything Goes) and Time Out (Bright).  I realized my card stash is a little cat heavy so I've been trying to make a few more dog cards.  This one combines an adorable Newton's Nook pup with some bright and cheery Reverse Confetti paper.

Trio

Thankfully my mojo decided to return today after yesterday's frustration so I've got a few cards to share.

First up is for Freshly Made Sketches and Seize the Birthday.  I've still got a few images sitting on my desk from when I tried Jennifer McGuire's Fast Watercolor Technique.  I love how this Altenew flower came out and I paired it with some MFT paper and a Winnie & Walter sentiment.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Watercolor) Ranger, (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Grey & White Basics 6x6) My Favourite Things
Stamps:  (Flower & leaves from Magnolia's for Her) Altenew, Sentiment from Sentimental: Birthday) Winnie & Walter
Ink:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko, (Abandoned Coral, Fossilised Amber, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover) Ranger
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Dies:  (Stitched rectangle) Mama Elephant
Gems:  Recollections

Next up is a card for The Colour Throwdown.  I took inspiration from the duvet in the photo for my design.  I used the backside of an MFT leaf stamp to stamp the shapes and then filled them in with the patterned front side of the stamps.  The leaf strip is matted on Elegant Eggplant paper and the sentiment is popped up on foam tape.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Leaves  sentiment from Geometric Greenery) My Favourite Things
Ink:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Lemon Lime Twist, Lucky Limeade, Elegant Eggplant, Marina Mist) Stampin' Up
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Gems:  Recollections

Finally is a card for CAS Colour and Sketches.  I finally got hold of this cool Essentials by Ellen sunbeam die that's been on my wish list for ages.  I cut in from the three challenge colours and then put it back together alternating the colours.  The die cut sentiment is covered in Glossy Accents and I added some Nuvo drops around it.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Poppy Parade, Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Yellow, wine) Paperbilities
Dies:  (Silver Linings, Sentiment) Essentials by Ellen

Muse Bird

Today was one of those infuriating days when I had a good chunk of time to spend crafting and my mojo packed up and left me.  I managed to get a design team card completed and was about to give up for the day when I came across Kim's card at Muse.  I spent some time digging around for bird images and found this one from Neat & Tangled.  Once I had that the rest came together pretty quickly.  Thank you, Kim and Muse!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Garden Green) Stampin' Up

Hey, Sugar!

Hello there!

I have a bright and colorful card today for the Inkspirational photo challenge.  The popsicles in that picture look super tempting right now in this crazy summer heat - I'll take one of each please!  My popsicle is courtesy of Reverse Confetti and the fun patterned paper is from an ancient Basic Grey 12x12 kit called Lollipop Shoppe.  The zig zag die is from Pretty Pink Posh and I love it!  It makes it so easy to create a fun background.

Hiya!

I've got a card today for the colour challenge at The Paper Players.  I dug out an old Taylored Expressions die set and used a flower die to create a fun patterned thank you card.  The sentiment die is Essentials by Ellen and, although you can't really see them, there are Nuvo Morning Dew Crystal Drops scattered around the sentiment.

Another Fast Watercolor Flower

Hi there!

I've got another card for the Just Us Girls challenge to use Jennifer McGuire's Fast Watercolor Technique and this time I paired it with the current CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  This time I used a flower and a sentiment from Winnie & Walter.  You can barely see it in this photo but I also used a cover plate from Lil' Inker to add some texture to the black panel.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Watercolor) Ranger, (White) Papertrey Ink, (Perfect Plum, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flower & leaves from In Bloom: Addie's Garden, Sentiment from Sentimental: Birthday) Winnie & Walter

Teeny Flowers

Back again with one last card for the day.  This is for the Fusion challenge where I took inspiration from the dark woodgrain planter and the flowers in the photo.  I've been wanting to use this flowered washi tape for ages and I found the Catherine Pooler inks matched it pretty well.  I stamped and fussy cut some ancient Papertrey Ink flowers and put them into Paper Smooches vases cut from woodgrain paper.  The sentiment is also PTI and I added Nuvo drops to the flower centers.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper:  My Mind's Eye
Stamps:  (Flowers from Bold Blooms and Bold Blooms II, Sentiment from Asian Fusion) Papertrey Ink

CASology #310

Welcome to Week 310 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I was working ahead on my design team cards and made this one in the middle of the World Cup madness.  I don't really follow any sports but I do enjoy World Cup time and getting caught up in the excitement.  Sadly England (my team) and Portugal (Luis's team) didn't make it to the final but it was still an exciting one.  I was rooting for Croatia and even though they didn't win they fought hard until the end.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Fast Watercolor Flower

Hi there!

I've got a card today for 3 challenges.  Just Us Girls challenged us to use Jennifer McGuire's Fast Watercoloring technique.  It looked easy enough so I gave it a try and made a bunch of flowers that look so awesome!  This is the first one I'm sharing using the sketch from Just Add Ink.  I'm also playing along with the Simon Says Wednesday challenge to Distress It (since I used Distress inks).  There are lots of different companies showcased here - the flower and leaves are Altenew, the Happy is Mama Elephant, the Birthday is Winnie & Walter and the patterned paper is MFT.  It really is a wonderfully easy technique especially as I really have never mastered the whole watercolor thing.  Expect to see more in the future!

Yappy Birthday

Hiya!

I was SO happy to get into the Craft Cave today after being down and out with the flu since Wednesday.  I've still got a gross cough but I made it past the point where I feel like I'm dying so there's hope for me yet.  :)

This card is for the MFT sketch challenge.  This is the first time I've inked up this little pooch.  I love his silly tongue poking out and thought it went perfectly with a punny sentiment.

Dotty Meow

Hello hello!

I'm playing along today with two challenges - the Simon Says Wednesday challenge to make your own background and the Just Add Ink inspiration photo challenge.  I took my inspiration from the rainbow colours in the photo and pulled out my Hero Arts ink daubers to create this dotty rainbow background.  I chose this Newton's Nook image because the ball of yarn continues the round theme (and also because he's just so darn cute).

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Bermuda Bay, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Kitty from Newton Unwinds) Newton's Nook, (Sentiment from Pawsome Sentiments) Honey Bee Stamps

Party Poodle

Hiya!

I've got a second card to share today - this one for the MFT Sketch Challenge.  I love all the MFT cat and dog stamps - so much adorableness!!  This sassy poodle is one of my favourites and it only seems right that she's paired with plenty of pink.

Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Sweet Celebration 6x6) My Favourite Things
Stamps:  (Poodle & sentiment from Lucky Dog, Hat & gifts from Beary Special Birthday) My Favourite Things

Copper Bird

Good morning!

I've got another card to share from the weekend's crafty sessions.  This is for the Colour Throwdown where we had to use black, white and copper.  I managed to dig up some Ranger copper embossing powder and used it to coat the Memory Box bird die.  It's not quite that dark in real life but I struggled to capture it in the photo.  Below the sentiment is also a strip of copper coloured glitter tape.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Textured White) Bazzill, (Chocolate Chip, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Many Thanks) Altenew
Ink:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko

Two Challenges

Hello there!

After what seems like forever I got to spend some significant time in the craft room over the past couple of days thanks to Cup Match - our 4 day public holiday for the East vs West cricket match.  It took a while to get back in the groove but I ended up with a few cards to share.

First up is for the Muse challenge and the inspiration card from Tristan.  I followed the colour scheme (including the kraft twine colour), used a flower image and kept a clean, white background.  The flower is popped up on foam tape for some dimension.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Flower & leaves from Layered Lily, Splatter from Watercolor Frames, Sentiment from Heartfelt Sentiments) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Evergreen, Sea Breeze, Turquoise, Tide Blue, Starlight, Sand Dunes, Pure Graphite) Altenew
Gems:  Recollections

Next is a card for Freshly Made Sketches.  I'm trying to use more coloured card bases and also patterned paper so here I managed to combine that using Stampin' Up cardstock and some ancient K&Co paper.  The butterfly is MFT and the sentiment is Altenew.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Certainly Celery, Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Periwinkle) Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  (Que Sera Sera 12x12) K&Co
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Heartfelt Sentiments) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Die:  (Butterfly) My Favourite Things, (Stitched Square) Lil' Inker Designs
Markers:  (E33, E35) Copic
Gems:  Recollections
