CASology #8

Welcome to Week 8 of CASology!  Here's the cue card for this week:

When I think of relaxing I think of sofas and naps!  I'm a big fan of both.  :)  And so are a lot of dads I know so I went very specific for this card and made a Father's Day card.  Yes, I'm about 10 months early but at least it's one in the stash for next year so for once I'm ahead of the game!

Be sure and check out the rest of the design team for some fabulous inspiration!

Just Us Girls #151

Good morning and welcome to my final week as Guest Designer for Just Us Girls.  I've had such a fun time playing along and want to thank the JUGS ladies for inviting me to be a part of such a great team for the last 4 weeks!  This week we have a photo inspiration challenge.  I was drawn to the tea cups and tea pot and was planning to use the soft pastel colours of the photo as well - but then I got side tracked.  The sentiment made me think of starting the morning with a nice cuppa and that made me think of a sunrise which led me to the medallions.  (It made sense in my brain anyway...) So where will your brain take you when you look at this picture?  Pop over to the JUGS blog to see the gorgeous gallery from the Design Team and then play along!  You have until 9pm EST on Thursday, 30 August.

I'm also going to enter this at the Focal Point Challenge at the Moxie Fab World.

Love Lives Here

Good morning!  Popping in to play along with The Paper Players' clean and simple paper piecing challenge - I love me some paper piecing!  I needed a new home card for some friends and these Purple Onion Designs stamps by Stephanie Ackerman were the perfect fit!

I was so excited yesterday to see a waterspout!  I know we have them around here fairly regularly but this was the first time I'd seen one for myself and not on tv or in the newspaper.  It was surreal though because I was standing on my dock in the bright sunshine and off in the distance the sky was black and this skinny little waterspout was gliding along.  So cool!

Splish Splash

CAS-ual Fridays is making the most of the end of summer with this week's challenge which is to create a project featuring something you might see in or at the ocean.  This little gull from the Paper Smooches Surf and Turf set looks so lonely to me - perhaps he's thinking of his long lost gull-friend...  Sorry.  Couldn't resist!  :D  Have a wonderful day!

CASology #7

Welcome to Week 7 of CASology!  Here's the Cue Card for this week:

I wanted to try and use patterned paper in a CAS way.  Normally I would do that by paper piecing so that the patterns appear in very small amount.  This time I wanted it to be all about the paper so I kept everything else to a minimum.  By using just the outline of the tree and some subtle pearls, the paper is the star of the card and it's a quick and easy make.

Now, have a hop around and visit the rest of the DT for some fabulous inspiration:

Have A Souper Day!

Market Street Stamps has a double challenge going on as the Block Party has overlapped with the Paint the Town Challenge.  Up for grabs is a free stamp set and a chance to be a guest designer - more than enough reason for me to play along!  I couldn't resist this punny sentiment from the Comfort Food set.  Tee hee!  I did some watermark stamping on the background and now I'm imagining that pot is full of Luis' spicy veggie and chourico soup.  Mmmmmm!!  :)  What's your favourite soup?

Harvest Birthday Wishes

A lot of challenges seem to be moving into warm, fall colour mode and the Play Date Cafe is no exception. I thought PTI's Harvest Berries leaves would look good in these colours so I dusted them off and gave them some love.  I also added the linen & canvas impression plate to the white panel although it's difficult to see in the picture.

Off for a walk with Atticus before it gets too hot. Hope you all have a lovely day!

Let's Party

Arielle has chosen some fabulous bright colours over at ColourQ this week and I thought they'd be great for some birthday/celebration cards (which my stash is sorely lacking).  I figured these Sweet Stamp Shop speakers would make for a good party so I paper pieced them, popped them up on Pop Dots and added a Paper Smooches sentiment.  I had so much fun that I made a second card too!  I used the Hero Arts envelope pattern on the black circle to mimic the look of the speakers.

We actually woke up to a rainy day today (whoop whoop!) so I'm about to make a dash for the Craft Cave to make the most of it.  Have a wonderful Sunday!

Just Us Girls #150

Good morning and welcome to my third week as Guest Designer for the fabulous Just Us Girls challenge!  This week is a colour challenge - warm fall colours with a pop of blue.  I dug deep into my Unity stamp collection and found these sweet pumpkins from the September 2010 Kit of the Month. I paper pieced them and popped them up on some Pop Dots and added woodgrain debossing to the card base to complete the rustic feel.  Ready to play along? First pop over to the Just Us Girls blog and check out the gorgeous creations from the design team and then get to work!  You have until 9pm EST on Thursday, 23 August.

Square Thanks

It's hip to be square at CAS-ual Fridays!  Square card base and CAS design are the only requirements this week so there's lots of room to play.  I've been in a bit of a school card mode (weird since I don't have kids) and went for a teacher thank you card.  I don't make one layer cards very often but I'm pleased with how this one turned out.  Can't go wrong with rainbow colours and a touch of bling.  :)

Inspired By Challenge

I managed to squeeze in a bit of time in the Craft Cave today to play along with Laurel Seabrook's Inspired By challenge.  I love the bold colours in the inspiration picture and was especially drawn to the trees.  It was just the push I needed to finally break out my Spring Groves stamps from Paper Smooches' Kismet Collection.  How cute are those lollipop trees?  I paper pieced them and popped them up on Pop Dots at a few different heights.  Couldn't live without my Pop Dots...

House It Going?

I haven't joined in with the Play Date Cafe in a while but I was inspired this week by the fabulous new design team members so I decided to play along.  I also couldn't resist these bright, cheery colours.  I pulled out some Market Street Stamps houses and a punny sentiment and kept my card CAS.  I like the pops of colour off the white cardstock.  Aside from fussy cutting the tiny hearts it was a pretty easy card to put together so I made a few for my stash.

Casology #6

Welcome to Week 6 of Casology!  Here's the cue card for this week:

Nothing says school more than ABCs and 123s!  I paper pieced some Lawn Fawn letters and numbers onto this PTI spiral notebook die cut (which is one of those ones I HAD to have yet have barely used...).  I thought it needed just a little something else though so I did some tone-on-tone stamping on the card base.  It adds some interest and texture without going too far outside the realm of CAS.

Have a hop around and visit the rest of the DT for some fantastic inspiration:
