CASology #177

Welcome to Week 177 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I had the Paper Smooches Knick Knacks stamp set in the back of my mind when I saw this cue word although the yoyo was not the image I thought I'd use.  I guess I was in a bit of a silly mood when I went to make this card though because this idea popped into my head and I couldn't shake it loose.  So I went with it.  And it still makes me giggle.  :)

Go and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the rest of the design team and then play along with us!

Santa, A Kitty & A Pooch

Hello!  I've got three cards to share today for a variety of challenges.  First up is a card inspired by Joan Bardee's design over at Muse.  I love the use of the pink on a Christmas card and also the simple circle element.  I used some NBUS Avery Elle stamps and a
Mama Elephant die.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Blushing Bride, Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (all from Joy to the World) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (So Saffron) Stampin' Up
Dies:  (Starburst background), Mama Elephant, (Stitched Circles) Lil' Inker Designs, (Bow) Avery Elle

More NBUS stamps, this time from Newton's Nook, for my Freshly Made Sketches card.  I love the adorable images in this set - Newton is so cheeky!  There's some Wink of Stella on the lights for a little bit of sparkle.  I also used an old Papertrey Ink scalloped border die which hasn't seen the light of day in a while.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Christmas Twinkles 12x12) Pebbles
Stamps:  (All from Newton's Holiday Mischief) Newton's Nook

Finally a card for the Simon Says Wednesday Tag challenge.  More NBUS Newton's Nook and a sweet stitched tag and bow from Mama elephant.  That's it for me - time to get the day started.  Have a good week!

Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I'm sure that by now most of you have heard about or come across one of the Coffee Lovers Bloghops over the last year and now they have their own blog and design team dedicated to all things coffee - Coffee Loving Cardmakers!

I confess that I have never taken part in one of the hops (purely because I was never organized enough) but I'm happy to say that I'm playing along with the current Holiday Coffee Lovers Bloghop!  All of us on the Skipping Stones Design Team are joining in the fun with some fabulous SSD coffee images.

The hop will run from December 11 - December 18 starting at 6am Pacific Time.

The theme for the hop is Winter/Holiday and because December 13th is National Cocoa Day and December 15th is International Tea Day you can use coffee, tea and/or coca images.

Skipping Stones Design is a Super Sponsor and will be giving away a $20 gift certificate.  There will also be 2 flash prizes given away for those who link up before December 15.

I used three different Skipping Stones Design sets for my card - Funny Coffee Volume 1 (coffee cup), Sassy Snow (snowflakes) and Christmas Swirls (sentiment).  I think it's pretty self explanatory - few things make me more joyful than a hot caramel latte on a cold winter's morning!  :)

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White, Soft Stone) Papertrey Ink, (Night of Navy, Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Powder Mountain 6x6) Bo Bunny

CASology #176

Welcome to Week 176 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Yes, 'tis is the season of the Christmas tree but lately the My Cute Stamps keep demanding my attention and since many of them have never seen the light of day I thought I should indulge them.  I love this simple tree image.  I embossed it and coloured it with Copics and added some Glossy Accents to the heart.  The sentiment is from Freshly Squeezed Stamps (sadly also defunct) and I'm loving the look of sentiments highlighted on a dark strip of cardstock - it really makes them pop!

Merry & Pink

Good morning!  I've got a card for three challenges today.  I used the inspiration photo from Just Us Girls to create a pink and silver Christmas card and since these are non-traditional Christmas colours I'm entering this over at The Challenge.  I'm also playing along with the Holiday challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More.  I love this Neat and Tangled set so much - the ornaments are so yummy!  Short and sweet today and hopefully I'll be back again soon!

CASology #175

Welcome to Week 175 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I'm guessing that many of my American friends may not want to see a pie this soon after Thanksgiving but at least you don't have to eat this one!  I'm continuing my efforts to use more coloured card bases and I really love Stampin' Up's Real Red so it is the star here.  Perhaps it's foreshadowing a cherry pie?  I'm more of a pumpkin pie gal myself though...

Golden Greetings

Hi there!  We had a busy weekend so I didn't get into the Craft Cave at all.  Mom and I had a girls' day out on Saturday and did some Christmas shopping.  On Sunday Luis and I took a couple of leisurely walks with Tex and gave him a bath.  We also continued with clearing out the house now that the interior painting is almost done (only the bathroom left).  Since we had to move everything to paint I was determined not to just shove it all back where it came from.  We've done major culling of everything from clothes to pantry items to general "stuff".  I've even let go of some books!!  With each trip to the dump or charity shop I feel a little bit lighter.  We've been watching a lot of these TV programs about tiny houses and, while I don't think I could handle living in 400 square feet, I like the idea of paring down our belongings to a more streamlined amount.  (Before you even ask, no - I have not done this in the Craft Cave yet!  Baby steps...)

Anyway I managed to get into the Craft cave for a little bit today and made a card for four challenges.  I started by using the design from CAS(E) This Sketch.  I layered 3 of the sentiment die cuts for some dimension and covered it with black Wink of Stella.  I also popped up the centre ornament.  I'm going to enter this in the Addicted to CAS Dimension challenge and also in the CAS on Sunday Christmas challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Skipping Stones November Stamp & Share Challenge

Hello and welcome to the Skipping Stones Design November Stamp and Share Challenge!   Since we're heading into the busy holiday season we've kept this challenge super simple - Anything Goes!

Skipping Stones Design stamps are not required to play along but if you have some we'd love to see you use them.

I tend not to use a lot of snow related images since there is never any snow here but I could not resist the Sassy Snow set with it's cute images and cheeky sentiments.  This one in particular always cracks me up.  :)  I paper pieced my snow gal with Bo Bunny papers and mounted the panel against some snow flurries.  I went for an orange sentiment to really allow it and the nose to pop!

I hope you'll find some time to play along with us especially as one lucky person will win a Skipping Stones Design stamp set of their choice.  Be sure to check out the rest of the gorgeous inspiration from the design team and then play along!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Snowflakes, stripes from Snow Day collection 6x6, (Snowflake grid from Powder Mountain collection 6x6) Bo Bunny
Stamps:  (All from Sassy Snow) Skipping Stones Design
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Pumpkin Pie) Stampin' Up
Die:  (Dashed rectangle) Mama Elephant

CASology #174

Welcome to Week 174 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Owls continue to be one of the more popular critters in the world of card making.  They're not quite at the level of butterflies but they're certainly up there (along with foxes).  I found a number of owl images in my stash from several different companies but I finally settled on using this one from (the sadly defunct) My Cute Stamps.  I used the sentiment to create the branch and paper pieced the owl and leaves.  Be sure to check out the rest of the
owl-dorableness from the design team and then play along  with us!
