You Make My Heart Saur

Hi there!

I’ve got a card today for the Paper Players sketch challenge.  I did some more masking and inking although this time I used regular Distress inks and didn't have the paper pilling problem like I did yesterday with the Oxide inks.  These Heffy Doodle stamps are NBUS so I was glad to put them to work especially since I can't keep up with the demand for Valentine's cards right now!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Dinosaur & sentiment from Dino Time) Heffy Doodle
Inks:  (VersaMark, Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko, (Tattered Rose, Abandoned Coral Distress inks) Ranger
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Dies:  (Hearts) Simon Says Stamp
Markers:  (R20, YR31, YR61) COpic

CASology #329

Welcome to Week 329 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

My card this week took a couple of tries to get right.  The first one involved some ill fated heart die cuts and a multi-color sentiment.  It was not a pretty sight.  So I one back to the drawing board and did some masking and inking and was SO much happier with this result!

I must ask though - is paper pilling common when you work with Distress Oxide inks?  I had the same problem with regular cardstock and watercolor paper.  Am I just being too heavy handed with it?

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

I Adore You

Today's card is for two challenges - the Paper Smooches Anything Goes challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday challenge - Have a Heart.  I finally bought some of that Glad Press & Seal stuff and it came in so handy for this project.  It helped me keep all the little pieces together so I could them easily pop them into place when I reassembled the die cuts.  I wish I'd bought some ages ago!

XOXO

Hi there!

I'm popping in with another card from yesterday's rainy day card session.  This one was inspired by one of the photos at Addicted to Stamps and More's photo inspiration challenge.  Can you guess which one?  Ha ha!  I used some older Papertrey Ink stamps to create the background with Altenew inks.  The Xs and Os are Doodlebug chipboard letters that I've had for AGES!  I covered them with VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with gold powder.  The stamped edges looked a tiny bit rough so I added strips of shiny gold cardstock to even everything out.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Gold)
Stamps:  (Ombre Builders) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko, (Pinkalicious, Rubellite, Razzleberry) Altenew
Embossing Powder:  (Gold) Hero Arts
Other:  (Chipboard letters) Doodlebug

Peace & Comfort

Hello there!

It's been raining steadily for most of the day so I cancelled all the dog baths I had scheduled and instead I spent the day happily ensconced in the Craft Cave.  Its been ages since I've had crafty time so it was wonderful.  I started the day making this card for Freshly Made Sketches and the Global Design Project.  I used a Simon Says leaf die, a Taylored Expression heart and a MFT sentiment to create this simple sympathy card.  Always happy when I can use some coloured gems too!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Deepest Sympathy) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Leaf Column Background & Outline) Simon Says Stamp, (Heart) Taylored Expressions

CASology #328

Welcome to Week 328 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Looks at me!  A zebra that's not black and white!!!  I have such a hard time colouring animals unusual colours.  I love it when other people do it but generally cannot bring myself to follow suit.  But it's a new year and it's time to chill out and get a little adventurous so here I go!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

CASology #327

Welcome to Week 327 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Ever look at a card after you've photographed it and brought it up on your computer and thought, "Huh.  I wish I'd done this a little differently..."  Such is the case for me here.  I wish I'd stamped a black sentiment with only "sunshine" in yellow.  However, redoing it is not in the cards so I'm going to go with it!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Stay Paw-sitive

Hi there!

Today's card is for two challenges - Freshly Made Sketches and Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday (try something new).  This is a pretty old set from Your Next Stamp but this is the first time I've inked it up.  I got the matching dies and they include these awesome scratch mark dies which I love and they add a great bit of texture!  I can definitely seeing them get a lot more use in the future.

Lovie Friends II

I'm back with three more cards using Lil' Inker Designs' Lovie Friends stamps.  I went much more CAS with these cards.  For the first two I paired the critters with different Simon Says Stamp dies.  For the last card I made a funky background panel using some of my favourite washi tape.  I'm going to be really sad when that ones runs out but maybe then I'll use the zillion other rolls collecting dust on my shelf!

Lovie Friends I

Hello hello!

I'm back with some more Just for the Heck of It cards.  There are 4 in this post and I'll share 3 more later.  I've dipped into my Lil' Inker Designs stash again and pulled out the Lovie Friends stamp set.  I am excited that I used almost every stamp in the set - I only skipped 2 small sentiments!  I know I've used the giraffe in the past but I think that's it and I have to say that finally getting the matching dies was a big help as some of these are pretty fiddly for fussy cutting.  I've used mostly Lil' Inker products here -  patterned paper and the scalloped die cuts and stitched heart.  The hearts on the third card are from Taylored Expressions.

Sentiment Cakes II

I've got three more cards to share from my session with the Lil' Inker sentiment cake stamps.  I continued on with the theme of patterned paper for the first two cards.  The sunburst die on the first card is from SugarPea Designs.  The rectangle dies on the second card are from Mama Elephant.

For the last card I used stamps to create a background pattern and stamped the main cake with Hero Arts ombre ink.  The vellum circle is die cut with a Lil' Inker fringe scalloped circle die which adds some fun to the edges.  I used Nuvo drops for the flames on the candles.

Sentiment Cakes

Hi there!

I've got another Just for the Heck of It post today.  This time I'm using these adorable sentiment cakes from Lil' Inker Designs and pairing them with lots of patterned paper and Lil' Inker stitched and pierced dies.  The papers are a mixture of American Crafts and My Mind's Eye and I used Nuvo drops for some of the candle flames and Stickles for others.  Mixing and matching patterned paper is a struggle for me.  Some people make it look effortless like Heather Hoffman does here and here and here (fox card).  I often go to her for inspiration.

CASology #326

Welcome to Week 326 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

As soon as I saw the word 'Frozen' Idina Menzel's voice was belting out in my head, "Let it goooooo!  Let it go!"  I have never even seen Frozen but those two things are inextricably linked for me.  Anyway I couldn't resist the chance to torture everyone else along with me and have that song stuck in your heads for the rest of the day.  :)

(NB:  No disrespect to Idina - she's amazing and I've loved her since I saw her three times in 'Rent').

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!
