CAS Colours & Sketches Guest Designer Take 2

Hi there!  I'm back for my second week of guest designing for CAS Colours & Sketches.

This week we have a sketch challenge:

I broke out some NBUS items for my card which seemed to perfectly capture the sketch.  The wreath and bird are from Lil' Inker Designs with a banner from Paper Smooches and a sentiment from Fresh Squeezed stamps (sadly closed).  It came together quickly once I finally decided on the colours for my bird - I could have dithered forever on that!

Be sure to check out the inspiration from the Design Team and then play along!  You have until 6pm Eastern Time on Monday, 20 March.

Feel Better Soon

Today's card is for the current Colour Throwdown challenge.  This may be the first time I've showcased these Altenew stamps.  I've tried to work with them a few time with my Zigs but I've never been thrilled with the results especially when comparing them to other beauties I've seen.  Just gotta keep practicing I guess...  Here I went with my favourite technique of paper piecing using solid cardstock.  The leaves are glued flat and the flowers are popped up for a little dimension.  Clean, crisp and simple.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Periwinkle) Bazzill, (Gumboil Green) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Bamboo Rose) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Happy) Altenew

Channeling My Inner Ardyth

Hello there!  I sat down about an hour ago to write this post when boom!  Out went the power.  Strange as it is a calm, crisp evening with no wind.  Anyway I dashed upstairs to make sure mom was sorted with lanterns and water and just as we got everything together the power came back on.  Always the way isn't it?  Ah well.  I'm grateful it was just a quick outage and we'll consider it a drill for future problems.  :)

Back to the card. I wanted to play along with Muse where we have a beautiful, bright card from Anita.  I never think to use pink and orange together but then I see it here on Anita's card and I think it's bold and a bit sassy and I love it!  I decided I was going to channel my inner Ardyth and try to break down and capture the very basics of Anita's card.  In the end I decided that was pink, orange, black and a flower and I came up with the above.  And then I saw Ardyth's Muse card and realized she completely out-Ardythed me!  Ha ha!  See what I mean about how she perfectly CASifies but still captures the essence of the Muse card?  This is why I think she (and her style) are so awesome.

Thank You Cactus

I had some crafty time yesterday and made a card for the Curtain Call challenge using the design from Freshly Made Sketches (turned 90 degrees to the left).  Pretty proud of myself actually - I normally make challenge cards at the last minute not the day they're announced.  The cactus and sentiment are from Lil' Inker Designs and the patterned paper is My Favourite Things.  I added lots of bling and my favourite Paper Smooches shadow to ground the plant.  That's it for now.  Have a lovely day!

Cut It Out

Hello!  I'm here today with a card for the Cut It Out challenge at The Paper Players.  It's Mother's Day this month in the UK and I've had a couple of requests for cards.  The butterfly and leaves here are fussy cut and the Happy is a die cut.  (They're all from Altenew while the Mother's Day is from Hero Arts).  I really need to invest in the butterfly dies because cutting out those little antennae is no easy task - very fussy indeed!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Wild Wasabi, Smokey Slate, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Butterfly from Painted Butterflies, Leaves from Doodle Blooms) Altenew, (Mother's Day from CL334) Hero Arts
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Frosty Pink, Coral Berry) Altenew
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Dies:  (Happy) Altenew

Birthday Tags

It's pretty rare for me to post more than once a day but this will be my third post for today.
I wanted to get this card into the Just Add Ink photo inspiration challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday challenge to make or use a tag.  I very rarely make tags but I will happily use them on a card and these tiny tags from Mama Elephant were as yet unused so I broke them out and put them to work.  The letters and birthday die are also from ME.  I decided not to stop at one card and made a couple of others using different colours.  I added some grey Nuvo drops for a bit more texture and that was it!  A quick addition of birthday cards to the stash.  Gotta love that!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Textured White) Bazzill, (Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry,  Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Dies:  (Alphabet, birthday, tags) Mama Elephant
Glitter:  (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig
Other:  (Nuvo Oyster Grey Crystal Drops) Tonic

CASology #239

Welcome to Week 239 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

There are plenty of different kinds of landmarks in the world but living on an island, just down the road from one of our two lighthouses, I figured I had to go with this image.  Also it was an NBUS Paper Smooches die so I was happy to have a chance to put it to work.  The sentiment is from a really old Paper Smooches set, from their first or second release I think.  The glow of the lamp was created with a Lil' Inkers Designs die.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!
