Brave Girl Boots

I'm using more old but new to me Unity stamps today. Yes, I confess, I got sucked into the Unity sale at Simon Says Stamp the other week and did a wee bit of shopping...  How's a girl supposed to resist a sale like that???

Anyway, I'm playing along with the colors at the Play Date Cafe and the Stamptember challenge at Simon Says Stamp.  I love those sassy boots and I think they look fabulous in that peach colour.  I used PTI's Linen & Canvas impression plate on the card base for some texture and thought it made it kind of denimish so I added some eyelets to go along with the cowgirl/denim theme.

Dream...

Arielle of the ColourQ challenge has extended the deadline for submissions yet I'm still barely squeaking in at the last minute.  *Sigh*  I will get organized one of these days...  I used an old (but new to me) Unity stamp - one that has been on my wish list for a while.  I love the simple line drawing and sentiment.  There are 4 different ones in the set and I know they're all going to get their fair share of love.  :)  I'm also entering this in the Stamptember challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

Telephone Greetings

We're in the midst of being battered by Tropical Storm Leslie at the moment.  Thankfully it was downgraded from a Category 2 storm to a TS and is passing by to our east so not a direct hit.  We have gales and rain at the moment and so far (knock on wood) the power has stayed on so I'd better type quickly and get this posted just in case!

I'm playing along with a few challenges with this card. I was initially inspired by the Paper Smooches Sparks Retro Fab challenge.  I knew I wanted to emboss the phones in white on colored blocks I so am playing along with CAS-ual Fridays Embossing Challenge and the Moxie Fab Repeptitiona Challenge.   I'm also joining the Simon Says Stamp Stamptember challenge to use stamps.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Gumball Green, Midnight Muse) Stampin' Up

A Quart of Trees

I was excited to find two current challenges, Embellish and The Paper Players, that asked us to use trees on our projects.  I'm not sure why but I love tree stamps and I really have way too many of them.  Or not.  Can you ever have too many stamps?  Do you ever feel like no matter how many you have, sometimes you don't have just the right stamp for your card?  Despite how many tree stamps I have it took forever to find the right one for this card but I finally settled on this tree from Bella Trees, one of the first Unity sets I ever bought.  I used the colors from the Embellish challenge and I wanted to enter it in the Gallon/Quart/Pint challenge at the Moxie Fab World.  Cath says, "When following this rule, neutrals don't count" so the blue is the gallon, the green is the quart and the yellow is the pint.

Here's the latest map on Hurricane Leslie.  Preparations are in full swing!

Thank You Apples

I'm slowly getting things sorted with my computer and feeling a bit more confident with it. I can finally upload and edit photos without tearing out my hair and sending Luis and Atticus into hiding.  :)  Now I'm just trying to get back into card making mode.  I'm hoping that the power will stay on this weekend so I can really catch up but Tropical Storm Leslie may have other ideas for us.  She's currently projected to be a Category 2 Hurricane by the time she gets to us late on Saturday.  We'll see though.  These storms move and change so quickly.

Anyway on with today's card!  I made a back to school card for CAS-ual Fridays using the colors from Dynamic Duos.  I did some paper piecing with these Unity apples and used my favourite textured Bazzill cardstock.  I like to use it for really CAS cards as I feel like it gives them just that extra bit of interest.  Okay, must dash off to work now.  Have a wonderful day!

CASology #9

Welcome to Week 9 of CASology!  Here's the cue card for this week:

I have a rather embarrassingly large collection of Distress inks that do little more than sit in a drawer and collect dust.  I usually associate them with elaborate and busy cards but they can be used for simpler projects too.  For this card I stamped and embossed the bird image and then masked off and inked a small strip.  I really like the way it came out and how it makes the silhouette pop.  It took me ages to decide where to put the sentiment and then it seemed to be totally disconnected from the image so I added the matching gems and it was just the right touch to tie the image and sentiment together.

Be sure to check out the rest of the design team for some fabulous inspiration!

Also this week's guest designer:

Link up your creations to the CASology blog and remember that submissions are due by Sunday, 9 September at noon CST.

Back From Exile

I have spent the last week and a half in the seven circles of computer hell.  My old Mac has been on it's last legs for a while and I finally got a new one but was not prepared for how few things would transfer easily from one to the other.  Quicken and Canon's ImageBrowser are now the bane of my existence and at the moment it's taking both computers in order to accomplish editing and uploading photos.  I'm slowly figuring things out but in the meantime there are a lot of bad words being said and I apologize for not visiting anyone lately.  I will be back as soon as I can sit at the computer for more that 10 minutes without wanting to throw it out the window!

I did finally mange to get a few cards made and uploaded today including this one for the Play Date Cafe.  I used the new Dreamcatcher set that I won from Market Street Stamps latest release.  That first feather is actually an evergreen color but I'm still getting the hang of my new photo editing as per above!!  I'm also going to enter this in the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.
