CASology #200

Welcome to Week 200 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Today is our 200th challenge!  Whoop whoop!!  A huge congrats and a big thank you to Melissa for creating this fabulous challenge.  I'm thrilled to have been along for the ride from the beginning and to be part of such a special group of ladies.

As you can see the cue word this week amounts to an Anything Goes challenge but it MUST BE CAS!

As a reminder, here are some points from the CASology blog to keep in mind when you are creating a card in the CAS (clean and simple) style:

1. One main image

2. Lots of open space--uncluttered
3. Limited layers and embellishments
4. Quick and easy to recreate (note--it may take a long time to get a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake).

As part of our 200th challenge celebration several members of the DT will be offering blog candy. Each DT member who is participating will select a random commenter from their blog who also linked up a card at CASology. Winners will be announced on each DT blog as well as on the CASology blog next Tuesday.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

All commenters who also enter the challenge will be eligible to win the above blog candy from me so please play along!

Totally Awesome Birthday

***This is my second post for today.  Please scroll down or click here for my earlier post!***

Hi there!  I'm popping in again with one more card for two challenges.  Using the fun photo over at Addicted to Stamps and More I was inspired by the primary colours and the stripes.  Since I these colours make me think of little boys I'm also playing along with the Birthday Boy challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays.  I actually used some coloured embossing powder (which is rare) and I love how bright and cheery it is!
That's it for today.  Have a lovely evening!

Barnyard Animals & Butterflies

Hello, Monday!

I managed to get a few more cards made yesterday - mostly special orders but I did get a couple of challenge cards completed as well.  I'm playing along with the MFT Sketch challenge for the first time with these cute NBUS farm animals from The Whole Herd.  I had fun Copic coloring them and then punched them out and layered them on top of some MFT plaid paper.  They are so adorable especially the pig and the cow.  :)  I'm also going to enter this in the Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink

My second card is for the Seize the Birthday Dimension challenge.  The centre of the Lil' Inker butterflies are glued down while the outside edges of the wings are popped up on foam tape.  The Altenew sentiment is popped up as well.

That's it for today.  See you tomorrow for CASology!

Dino Love & Geometric Rainbow

Hello and happy Sunday!  I've had a bit of crafty time this weekend which has been lovely so I have a couple of cards to share with you.  First up is a card inspired by Kim's design over at Freshly Made Sketches.  These sweet little MFT dinos are NBUS for me.  I coloured them with Copics, fussy cut them and popped them up on foam tape in front of an MFT heart.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Textured White) Bazzill, (White, Kraft) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Prehistoric Fun) My Favourite Things
Ink:  (Intense Black) Simon Says Stamp
Die:  (Heart Stax) My Favourite Things
Makers:  (YG03, YG06, YG23, YG63, YG67, YG91) Copic
Glitter: (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig

Next up is a card inspired by Jenni's Muse creation.  I wanted to try a technique that Heather from Houses Built of Cards shared here that involves dabbing Distress Inks directly onto the card and then spritzing it with water.  Looking more closely at Heather's card now I think I should have used the other side of the watercolor paper but I'm pretty happy with this for a first try.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Watercolor) Ranger, (Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Spot On) Lil' Inker Designs
Inks:  (Jet Black Archival Ink, (Abandoned Coral, Carved Pumpkin, Fossilized Amber, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet) Ranger
Die:  (Diamond Parade) Simon Says Stamp
Gems:  Recollections

CASology #199

Welcome to Week 199 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

You guys knocked it out of the park last week with the Stencil cue word!  I had a really long "short list" and I struggled to pick a winner.  So many great CAS designs!

This week's cue word is a fun one and great to get your mind churning for Father's Day and just guy cards in general (which aren't always the easiest).  I stuck to one layer and minimal embellishments for my card.  I know some people might raise their eyebrows at bling on a guy card but I think it can work in small doses.  :)

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Welcome to the Neighborhood

Hi there!  I'm popping in with a card for the current Curtain Call challenge.  I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I saw the inspiration photo.  That doesn't happen very often and it's even less often that I get a card in this far ahead of the deadline.  :)  Anyway the card came together really quickly thanks to these cute little Paper Smooches bird house dies (as well as the tiny birdie).  Love when it all goes smoothly!

Scoops of Thanks

I'm so excited that Blogger has finally stopped tormenting me and is letting me upload photos again.  I was not a happy bunny on Monday...

I've got a bright and yummy card to share today.  I used the design from the current RetroSketches challenge and the colours from last week's ColourQ challenge.  I loved the colours and didn't get a chance to play along but I thought I'd put them to use anyway - they gave me the perfect excuse to christen these Reverse Confetti dies and stamps.  I love this ice cream die - such a fun shape and it looks good enough to eat!  I tried a few different cardstocks before I settled on vellum for the centre panel - everything else just covered up too much of those happy stripes.  That makes my card eligible for the Just Us Girls vellum challenge so I'm playing along with them too.

That's it for now.  Have a lovely day!

CASology #198

Welcome to Week 198 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I have quite a few stencils but they're ticked away so I never remember to use them.  I need to find them a more prominent storage place so they'll get more love.  For my card this week I used the Oh My Stars stencil from Stamplorations (who just so happen to be our sponsor this week!).  I used white embossing past to cover my card base with stars and then die cut and popped up a yellow star on top.  Using the white embossing paste on white card stock adds interest and texture to the base while still keeping a CAS feel.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

CASology #197

Welcome to Week 197 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

This week's cue word is really versatile.  It can be a noun or a verb and just by changing the pronunciation you get two totally different meanings of the word.  Originally I was going to go for tear (as in crying) and make a sympathy card but then I stumbled across this NBUS Newton's Nook stamp and decided to go for the other tear, as in to rip!  Newton is certainly one naughty cat but he's so darn cute...

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!
