Daubers & Doggie

Hello again and happy Saturday!  I've got two cards to share with you today.  First up is inspired by Tracey's awesome card over at Muse.  This is my second attempt.  My first attempt I stuck really closely to Tracey's design and tried to watercolor just the centre of the images like she did.  Me and Zigs still don't play very nicely together though so I put that card aside.  I started digging around through drawers and came across my Hero Arts daubers and thought they'd give me the loose feel of Tracey's coloring without struggling with the Zigs.  So I stamped the balloons and then splotched them with the daubers and I love it!  It's fun and funky and a bit messy.  I think you could give it to a guy (even with the pinkish balloons included).

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Black) Gina K
Stamps:  (Balloons from Admit One) Lawn Fawn, (Sentiment fromLabel Love) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Pale Tomato, Orange Soda, Buttercup, Field Greens, Tide Pool) Hero Arts
Dies:  (Stitched hearts) Lil' Inker Designs

Next is a card for the Addicted to Stamps & More CAS challenge using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  This pooch is from an awesome Gerda Steiner set sent to me by the lovely Judy.  She introduced me to Gerda Steiner and after I oohed and aahed all over a series of cute pooch cards she had made Judy sent me a set for myself.  Crafty friends are the best!  I coloured this guy with Copics, fussy cut him and popped him up on foam tape so he could peek over the sentiment and strips of washi tape.  I love his adorably grouchy face!

Edited to add:  Judy suggested I enter this in the Gerda Steiner Share Your Design Challenge.  Thanks, Judy.  Glad to have a new challenge to play along with!

I know, right?! That Judy is one amazing bloggy friend. Your cards are incredible. LOVE the balloon splats card - such a brilliant idea, and it would most definitely work for guys and gals. Great colors!! And such a sweet little poochie. His expression is priceless and this card will surely cheer anyone's day! It's been in the high 50s and low 60s here these last few days and you know what that means in Wisconsin, don't you? Some fool had his convertible out...I just laughed... Bev

Hey! you got me with those sponged splats! That is such an awesome idea, and I am going to have to CASE it for sure. Also, that poor forlorn pooch is too cute - i feel another CASE coming on. And I know just what washi tape I can use ;-). You are so right - crafty friends are the best friends. Happy weekend, Jen!!

Hi Jen,
thanks for your comment on my blog. That's a good tip about leaves etc not having to be green. I must remember that. When it comes to flower cards I need all the help I can get :-)
LOVE your take on the Muse card. The splashes look fab and such fun.
And your pooch is adorable.

LOVE the color spats on the balloons, Jen! You are so right, even with pink balloons this card is gender neutral.

The color splats give a whimsical look to your balloons, Jen, more fun that just painted one. And that dog. He makes me smile. Anyone's ruff day will be over when they get this card.
