Confetti Wishes

Aside from a surprise visit from my friend and her new baby, I spent most of today in the Craft Cave.  How blissful! Especially as the humidity is really kicking in outside and it's been rather grey all day.  Blah!  A good day for hiding out.

I decided to play along with the latest ColourQ challenge.  I was initially inspired by the graphic design on the bag but as seems to be the usual case these days I ended up going in a totally different direction.  I made a flower using one of the petals (butterfly wings?) from PTI's Modern Basics and dressed up the PTI sentiment with some matching confetti.  This was a tricky colour palette as 3 of the colours are retired.  Crushed Curry is the only one of the three I have so I had to substitute the Soft Sky and Cameo Coral.  Why does SU retire colours anyway?  Aside from it being a good way to get AR/OC people like me to buy up enough product to last me a lifetime!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White, coral) Bazzill, (Light blue) Pacon, (Island Indigo, Crushed Curry) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Petal from Modern Basics, Sentiment from Think Big Favourites #7) PTI

Inks: (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Island Indigo) Stampin' Up

Punches:  (1/2" circle punch) Marvy Uchida, (5/16" & 1/8" hole punches) McGill

What a fun card. I love your confetti. It does seem like a bummer to have retired colors. I only have PTI colors, so I am always scrounging up a match. Looks like you have always managed, however.

I think you already hit the nail on the head - AR/OC folks who HAVE TO stock up make for good sales :)
This is sweet! I love how you can create flowers out of so many elements - my brain just doesn't do that! The confetti's my favourite part :)

Such a clever use of that stamp. I have it somewhere, buried, I think I should pull it out again after seeing your fun creation.

Totally fun design! Confetti always makes me happy:) Such a great use of the modern basics stamp!

I only have a few SU colors, and they always seem to be the wrong ones for the challenge! When I first started stamping, I used to wonder why anyone would need so many ink pads. Don't ask me how many I have now:)

Hope you are doing well!

I think you've nailed it as far as SU and retiring colours. Well, that and the whole limited time only cachet. :D
What a fun way to use the PTI stamp -- especially with the confetti!

This is just the sweetest thing ... Love how you used a tricky colou combo! Why don't my attempts look like this? Gorgeous, Jen! Hgs xxx

You used this sort of odd color combo with such fun, Jen! It wasn't until I read your description that I understood this was a flower - I saw a "whirly-gig" (at least that is what we call them)! Spinning with fun.
