Gypsy Butterfly

This week's Muse card is a bold and bright creation by Vicki Dutcher. It's simple but fabulous!  As you can see I stuck pretty close to Vicki's design because hey, if it ain't broke…  Instead of watercolor (me and techniques are not getting along lately) I used a scrap of ancient 7Gypsies paper.  I tried a vellum sentiment but it didn't feel right and in the end I went with a black strip that seemed to balance the butterfly. Time to head off to work.  Hope you have a fabulous day!

This week's RetroSketches sketch is brilliant for using up those scraps of patterned paper that you just can't bring yourself to throw away.  You could make a whole set of these pretty quickly and they could work for all sorts of occasions.  Hmmm….  I see a project in my future…

CASology #111

Welcome to Week 111 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Lots of ideas came to mind for this week's cue word.  A few songs - Under the Sea, Under the Boardwalk, Under the Bridge, Land Down Under.  A few words - underwear, undertaker, underground, underline, underwrite.  However, it wasn't until I spotted a stack of tissue boxes in the cupboard that the idea for my card popped into my head.  I also managed to make it a triple under card - I used the word under in the sentiment, the sentiment is under the image and part of the sentiment is underlined!  Whoop whoop! And now it's your turn.  Check out the fabulous designs from the design team and then play along!

Card Concept & Colour Throwdown

Good morning!  I'm popping in today with two cards for four challenges.  First up is my card for The Card Concept and CAS on Sunday.  I love the bedding set in The Card Concept photo and was inspired by the off the edge pattern, the pierced edging around the headboard and Deanna Dean's card.  The green is quite dark in this photo - wishing I'd used a lighter one now but oh well.  I think this card could fit in the Clean and Simple or Clean and Graphic category.  CAS on Sunday asked us to use black, white and one colour in our design so this card fits perfectly with the challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flower) Hero Arts, (Sentiment from You Said It) Fresh Squeezed Stamps
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Old Olive) Stampin' Up
Die:  (Stitched Squares) Lil' Inker Designs
Gems:  Recollections

My second card is for The Colour Throwdown challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge.  I pulled out my little used Papertrey Ink Rosie Posie stamps and dies and made a bright and cheery get well card.  I realized that most of my cards lately have been on white bases so it was fun to use a bright colour this time.  :)  Hope you're having a lovely day!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Pacific Point) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flower and stem from Rosei Posei & Rosie Posie Step 2, Sentiment from Think Big Favourites #6) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Soft Suede) Stampin' Up
Die:  (Rosie Posie) Papertrey Ink

Dotty Muse

Hi there!  I finally got into the Craft Cave for a few hours today and have managed to play along with a couple of challenges.  I definitely wanted to join in with the fun over at Muse because the lovely Bobby of Bits & Pieces is the Guest Muse this month!  I love the ombre, dotty swirls that Bobby created and they're even more cool because they're made with embossing paste!  Bobby challenged us to try using some EP and I tried, I really did but I just wasn't happy with the final result so I scrapped it and went back to the drawing board.  I pulled out Papertrey Ink's Dot Spot stamps and embossed the largest one with clear embossing powder.  Then I took some Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and went to town blending it over the circles. The sentiment is from Avery Elle and I added a few gems for some shine.  That's it for me now - off to cook some dinner!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill
Stamps:  (Circle pattern from Dot Spot) Papertrey Ink, (Sentiment from Cake & Candles) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink) Ranger
Embossing Poiwder:  (Clear) Ranger

CASology #110

Welcome to Week 110 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I was excited to break out some NBUS for this challenge - all the stamps I used here are seeing ink for the first time!  Initially only the typewriter and letter were featured on the card.  However, I thought it needed something to tie the sentiment and the image together a little bit more.  I finally settled on the streamers as they support the celebration of a birthday. Have you been over to the CASology blog yet?  If not, go quick and check out the rest of the beauties from the design team and then get crafting!

CASology #109

Welcome to Week 109 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Mmmm… java!!  I confess that coffee is a delight that I've only discovered in the last year or so.  I have always thought that coffee smells wonderful but found the taste too bitter for my liking.  That is until I discovered the Snickers Latte.  *Cue shining light and angels!*  Talk about yummy!!  Completely calorically sinful, but yummy.  And don't even get me started on the Snickers Frappuccino…   Enough of that.  Time for you to check out the rest of the design teams' caffeinated creations and then get to work on your own!
