Freshly Made Butterflies

Hi there!

Another weekend is almost over and I didn't get as much time in the craft room as I would have liked - too much adulting to be done I'm afraid!  I did manage to make a couple of cards and I'll share the other one tomorrow.  For today I have an entry for Freshly Made Sketches using a Winnie & Walter scalloped rectangle and Papertrey butterflies and sentiment.  I've been using a lot of this DCWV glitter paper lately and I might actually run out of it.  What a calamity!!!

CASology #292

Welcome to Week 292 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

When I saw this cue word the phrase, "Curses!  Foiled again!" kept running through my head.  I knew it was from some cartoon character but I had to look it up - it's Snidely Whiplash from Dudley Do-Right.  Anyway I pondered that for a bit and considered making an encouragement card - you know, keep on trying even if you're plans are foiled or some such thing.  I also considered the fencing type of foil but really had nothing to work with there.  In the end I stumbled across these foiled vellum papers and voila - a CAS and classy wedding card was born.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Musical Butterflies & Lanterns

Hello!  I'm here today with two CAS cards for 4 challenges.  First up is a one layer card made with Skipping Stones Designs stamps.  I used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch for my design and the butterflies have music notes inside of them so I am playing along with Addicted to CAS's music challenge.  I used some mini cube Distress Inks for the butterflies and I love the bright colours!  I was thinking I might make a set of these but change up the colours and sentiment.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (All from Heartsong) Skipping Stones Designs
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks) Ranger
Gems:  Recollections

For my next card I combined Lawnscaping's patterns challenge with the light source challenge at the Paper Players.  I paper pieced the lanterns with glittery DCWV papers and popped them up on foam tape for some dimension.  This is a pretty old LF set but one I've gotten plenty of use out of over the years.  You can see the sparkle a bit better
in this close up.

That's all for now.  Have a wonderful day!

Flowers & Kitties

I broke my posting streak when I missed out on yesterday but before that I had a 12 day run which is definitely a record for me.  I got a little time in the Craft Cave this afternoon and have two cards to share for three challenges.  First up is my card for the current Muse challenge.  I stuck very close to Tracey's card in terms of colour and matting and also using a swirly stem for the flowers.  I used dusted off some DCWV cardstock for this one and I had forgotten how much I love the texture of it.  I also pulled out some old Hero Arts flourishes to use for the stem.  Someone used these recently and I commented that it was one of the earliest stamp sets that I bought.  Can't remember who it was but thank you for reminding me to look for the set!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Salmon, Orange, Yellow) DCWV
Stamps:  (Fantastic Flourishes) Hero Arts, (Sentiment from Smitten) Mama Elephant
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Green Hills) Hero Arts
Dies:  (Beautiful Blooms II) Papertrey Ink, (Scalloped rectangle, Stitched rectangle) Mama Elephant
Gem:  Recollections

Next is a card inspired by the photo at Curtain Call.  (I like the little kitty cat cap in the top right corner). I paper pieced some NBUS Avery Elle stamps and popped them up on a bright background.  Sweet and simple!  I'm also going to enter it in the Create with Critters challenge over at the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.  That's it for tonight.  Dinner is almost ready - Luis is cooking for us!  Whoop whoop!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  (Pink polka dots) Pebbles, (Yellow from Snippets 6x6, Grey from Story Time Boy 6x6) Studio Calico

Lions & Birdies & Clouds… Oh My!

I didn't make it into the Craft Cave over the weekend but I had some time in there today and I got a few cards made.  First up is for the ColourQ challenge using new (to me) WPlus9 supplies.  I've been wanting these dies and stamps for ages and finally managed to catch them while they were back in stock.  The ColourQ colours were just calling out to be used with this set!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Summer Starfruit, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up, (Rust) Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  (Dots & Stripes Metropolitan 6x6) Echo Park
Stamps:  (All from Sending Sunshine) WPlus9
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Cloud Border, Sunshine Layers) WPlus9
Gems:  Recollections

Next is a card for the Fusion challenge.  I used the sketch and took it very literally!  The inspiration photo made me think of this particular Glitz 6x6 paper pad although you wouldn't know it by looking at the papers I ended up using!  This little Memory Box bird is one of my favourites and definitely gets a lot of use.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  (77 6x6) Glitz
Stamps:  (Sentiment from CL342) Hero Arts
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Perched Reed Bird) Memory Box, (Stitched Circles) Lil' Inker Designs
Gems:  Recollections

Finally is a card that started with the Sketch for You to Try at Reverse Confetti.  Clearly I was in a real patterned paper mood today between this card and the last one.  Definitely not my usual CAS style.  This card also made me think of the new photo inspiration over at The Challenge.  Bright colours, patterns, a banner and a birthday?  Perfect!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper:  (The Citrus Matstack) DCWV
Stamps:  (All from Leaping Lions) Reverse Confetti
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko

Rainbow Glitter Clouds

Happy Monday!  I've got some rainbow glitter clouds to start your week off with a smile.  I was inspired by the design over at CAS(E) This Sketch and by the rainbow of pencil crayons over at Cath's Hip & Hooray blog.  I used my favourite DCWV glitter cardstock to fill in the clouds from this Simon Says die.  I ended up making 6 versions of the card so that none of the die cut clouds would go to waste.  Here's one other:

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stmpin' Up, (Various glitter colours) DCWV
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Sophie's Sentiments) Lawn Fawn, (Sentiment from Say What) Mama Elephant
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko

Back in Action!

Hello hello!  We are back on the rock after a fabulous vacation in Vermont and New Hampshire.  We rented a gorgeous house out in the woods that was so peaceful - it was tough to leave it.  Sadly reality was calling and it's back to regular life now.

I actually managed to get some cards made today. Usually it take me ages to get back into the card making groove when I've been away from it for a while but today felt pretty good.  First up is a card for the Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge.  This came together fairly quickly as it's just simple paper piecing.  I love that laughing moon - he just makes me happy.  :)

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Cosmos) Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Gems:  Recollections

Next up is a card for the AEIHeartU Sparkle challenge and the Simon Says Sparkle and Shine challenge.  I used the little balloon die from AE's Icon Fill in the Blank and the sentiment is from Storybook.  I also made a version with blue balloons.  Gotta cover all the bases and I know my little card stand at the animal hospital is in desperate need of restocking so I need to make as many cards as possible this weekend.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Pink glitter) DCWV, (Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Storybook) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Clear Super Fine Detail) Ranger
Die:  (Icon Fill in the Blank) Avery Elle

Last but not least is a card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the Seize the Birthday Anything Goes challenge.  I used a little strip of this adorable Jillibean Soup paper on the side and paper pieced the Amy Tangerine camera which I love and is one of the few stamps that has gotten more than one inking. The sentiment is a combo of Mama Elephant stamps.  That's it for tonight.  I'll post the rest of the cards tomorrow!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) PaperTrey Ink, (Riding Hood Red, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Sightseeing Stew 6x6) Jillibean Soup
Stamps:  (Camera from Aspire) Amy Tangerine, (Smile from Flashy Letters, Sentiment from Say What) Mama Elephant

Leafy Hello

Hello!  Just popping in quickly with a card for the Colour Throwdown challenge.  I had to get creative with my colours as I don't have any Really Rust or Sage Shadow and ended up using DCWV cardstock. I used dies from Paper Smooches and WPlus9 to make my little leaf cluster and the frame is PS as well.  That's it for me today.  Atticus didn't get much exercise yesterday thanks to all the rain so he's bouncing off the walls today.  Time to take him for a long swim!  Hope you have a lovely evening!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip) Stampin' Up, (Rust, Sage) DCWV
Stamp:  (Hello from Where Your Heart Is) Simon Says Stamp
Ink:  (Memento Potter's Clay) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Hickory Leaf, Loopy Leaf, Duo Dies 1) Paper Smooches, (Folk Art Florals) WPlus9

CASology #45

Welcome to Week 45 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

As soon as I saw this week's cue word I knew I wanted to use this Unity sentiment.  I love it and it's been used more than a few times (like here and here).  Since I've used it with a crown before I decided to go for a different image and pulled out this chess piece from Fresh Squeezed Stamps.  I couldn't totally resist the crowns though as you can see from the patterned paper - some long hoarded DCWV paper at that!  Whoop whoop for using stash! Okay, your turn to show us some royal designs.  Check out the gorgeous parade of inspiration from the DT and then get craftin'!

ColourQ CASE

**This is my second post for the day.  For my Colour Throwdown/Inkspirational post please scroll down or click here!**

Hello again!  Popping in with a card for ColourQ.  I love the soft, warm colour combo this week although I don't have any of these retired colours.  I suppose that's a good thing though because it made me search through all my other odd pieces of cardstock to find some matches and thus use up a few things!  My layout was inspired by this card by Dana F. I had fun trying to figure out what dies to use under the tag and it took a bit of playing around before I finally got to this.

Remember Kenzie, the puppy I mentioned in this post?  Jessi asked for some pictures and I've been struggling to get some good ones.  She's either sound asleep or moving at the speed of light!  LOL!  This one will have to hold you over for now.  I'll try to get some more on Friday.  It's a tough life being a puppy...

Clean and Simple 130

I have looked at the Clean and Simple sketch every week for months though have never played along with it.  I think it's time to remedy that with this week's challenge.
Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzil; PP: DCWV; Punches: PTI & Woodware; Ribbon: HOTP; Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type
After my photographic confession of my hoarding I decided to use some patterned paper.  I pulled out DCWV's Green Stack papers and they're so pretty with such cute images that you don't need to do much to them.  Since I had the paper out I made a couple of other cards too.
Supplies: Card Blank: Handy Hippo; PP: DCWV; Stamp: Hero Arts; Ink: SU Night of Navy

Supplies: Card Blank: Handy Hippo; PP: DCWV; Stamp: WoodwareUSA; Ink: StazOn Jet Black
I wasn't sure if there was too much white space at the top of this card.  I considered cutting it down to make it a square.  The more I look at it the more I think that's what I should have done.  Any thoughts?
