Play Date Butterfly

**This is my second post for the day.  For my CASology post please scroll down or

I'm back with my second Play Date Cafe card and yee haw - I used some mist!!  LOL!  I have quite a number of mists cluttering my shelves but I think I've only used them once that I can remember.  I decided to get crazy and try one out today!  :D  I also used my Corner Chomper for the first time.  It was actually a mistaken purchase.  I had wanted the regular corner rounder but when I got home I realised it was a decorative corner punch.  Doh! Tough to make a return when the store is a four hour plane ride away...  Now I'm glad I have it though because I think it's perfect for this card. The Pink Paislee stamp is seeing ink for the first time which is cool.  When I won this collection I worried I'd never use it as it's far more shabby than my usual style so I'm please to have made this stamp work for me.

Shadow Flower

*** This is my second post for the day.  For my previous post please scroll down or

It's been so nice to have some extra time to play in the Craft Cave this weekend.  I even managed to make 2 cards for the Play Date Cafe.  Usually I have so many challenges that I want to play along with that I only make one card and then move on but I had a couple of ideas for this colour combo so I thought I'd indulge myself for once.  This was my first card and I used some Papertrey stamps for the first time.  I was inspired to break these out after seeing Joyce's gorgeous card.  I off stamped the flowers in the background and then trimmed and popped up another flower in the front to give a bit of dimension.  The flower centre is a Hero Arts stamp as is the sentiment.  I thought it needed a little something else so at the last minute I added the twine bow which I think is kind of cute!  I'll be back tomorrow with my second Play Date card!

The Sky is the Limit

Good morning! I'm playing along with The Play Date Cafe and the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge.  I had fun creating this lilac sky with lots of puffy white clouds.  I stamped the clouds in white ink and then layered die cuts over the top of them to give them a bit of dimension.  I love the effect and I love PTI's Fresh Snow ink too! Hope you all have a lovely day and I'll see you in a few hours with the latest CASology challenge!

Play Date Flutter

Today was not a good card day.  It was one of those days when I did a lot of flipping through stamps, scanning challenge sites and letting out world weary sighs.  *Sigh*  I did finally manage to get a card done for the Play Date Cafe though so I am grateful that it wasn't a complete and total loss.  Of course, now that I have my card and the colour palette on screen together they look like two different challenges!!  Doh!  Ah well. Tomorrow is another day!  I'm also going to enter this in the Simon Says Stamp challenge for Things With Wings.

You're The Best, Mum

***This is my second post for the day.  For my Fusion post please scroll down or click here!***

The weekend turned out to be relatively productive in the card making department so I've got another one to share today.  This is for the Play Date Cafe's Colour Splash challenge.  I thought this colour looked a lot more purpley in real life but it's looking pretty red here.  Ah well, it's joining the challenge anyway!  Can't seem to make enough Mother's Day cards at the moment so I'm using every opportunity to crank them out.  Have a lovely evening and I'll be back tomorrow with CASology!

Purple Leaves

Hi there!  I'm playing along with three challenges today.  I'm using the colours from the Play Date Cafe and my layout was loosely inspired by Julie Ebersole's card at CASE Study.  I'm also tossing my hat - or my card I should say! -  into the ring one more time for the Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp.  Hope you have a lovely evening!

Positive & Negative

Hi there!  We're winding down another weekend and I am so happy that this one was bright and sunny for the first time in weeks.  Atticus was in 7th Heaven today as he had a long swim, a long walk and lots of time chasing his ball.  He's now passed out on the sofa with Luis snoring his head off.  Ahhh the life of a dog!  :)

I enjoyed some time in the Craft Cave this afternoon and came up with this little creation for a few challenges.  I used the colours from the Play Date Cafe's colour challenge and was inspired by the negative butterfly die cuts on Julie Ebersole's card at CASE Study.  I am also going to enter this in the Moxie Fab World's Emphasize the Negative challenge.  And what better way to emphasize the negative than by highlighting it with the positive?  The picture below shows better that the black and white layers use negative cuts while the coral butterfly is a positive cut.  I layered them on different heights of Pop Dots for some extra dimension and fun!  :)

Okay, off to finish getting organised for the new week.  Hope yours is a lovely one!

You Rev Me Up!

As usual I'm being a total Last Minute Lucy and scooting in with hours to spare for the Moxie Fab challenges.  I'm actually entering this card in two Moxie Fab World challenges - the Make A Card With A Window challenge and the Make Your Own Background Paper challenge.

I started off by using the colours from the Play Date Cafe.  I thought they were kind of masculine and the sentiment was inspired by the Zoom Goes My Heart stamp set from The Craft's Meow (designed by the fabulous Karen Baker) which is on my (very long) wish list.  The sentiment (which I created with Lawn Fawn's Claire's ABCs) led me to these cute little Amy Tangerine car and heart stamps.  I chose the Papertrey Ink Fillable Frames die for the window because it made me think of an exhaust cloud which I'm sure you'd have with all these cars around!!  The picture below shows the window a little better.  As usual now that I've finally made one window card they don't seem so scary anymore!  Perhaps I'll try a few more...

CASology #26

Welcome to Week 26 of CASology!  Here's the cue card for this week:

Having spent Christmas in Chicago with my brother I was definitely in need of some cozy mittens!  Despite living in Bermuda I actually have a rather large collection of mittens, gloves, hats and scarves but they spend most of their lives packed away in boxes awaiting the next trip abroad.  I paper pieced these Papertrey Ink mittens using the colours from this week's Play Date Cafe challenge.  The gems add a touch if interest and the blue snowflakes tie the sentiment into the design.  So let's see what winter wonders you have in your stash! But first, go check out the super fabulous design team for more inspiration:

And this week's guest designer:

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember that submissions are due by 4pm CST Sunday, 13 January.

We Click

Hi there! Popping in with a card for a couple of challenges.  This week at Paper Smooches Sparks we were given this fun camera picture as inspiration.  I liked the splash of red in the picture and it reminded me of the colour splash challenge at The Play Date Cafe. Love it when two challenges work together so well!  I used the camera image from Perpetual Bliss and the Instant Camera Frame die from Sweet Stamp Shop to create my "photo" of cameras in love.  LOL!  :)  I wanted a big, bold sentiment so I went for some Scenic Route alpha stockers instead of a stamp.  That's all for me today.  Have a lovely evening!

Counting My Blessings

Every morning, whether I'm going to have crafty time that day or not, I check the latest challenges and print out the sketches/colour combos/etc provided.  On the back I write the date the challenge ends and then I pin them up in chronological order on the bulletin board over my desk in the Craft Cave.  Today I sat down and realised that the Skipping Stones Design sketch challenge ends today so I'd better get on with something if I wanted to enter.   I pondered it a bit and decided it might work with this week's Play Date Cafe colours.  I thought of this SSD wreath (which has never seen ink) and got to work.  I was pretty pleased with my card when I finished, took my photos and trotted down to the computer to write up my post.  I went over to the SSD blog to get the correct link for the challenge and found this:

Look familiar?  Kim Kesti provided the sketch this week and this was her sample.  Doh! How embarrassing!  So has it been in the back of my mind since I looked at the challenge last week??  Clearly it snuck in there subconsciously and my design is now really a CASE so I wanted to give proper recognition to Kim.

Asymmetric Flower?

**This is my second post of the day.  For my Moxie Fab/PaperCrafts post please scroll down or click here!**

Apparently I'm trying to drive myself mad in the photography department today with all these dark card bases.  What a nightmare!  I used the colours from the Play Date Cafe to complete my final entry for the Moxie Fab Card Design Handbook Challenges - the Asymmetry Challenge.  Not sure if it's actually asymmetric enough...  I really struggled with this one!  I'm pleased that I managed to make a card for each of the challenges though.  I'm hoping I can keep this momentum going.

Brave Girl Boots

I'm using more old but new to me Unity stamps today. Yes, I confess, I got sucked into the Unity sale at Simon Says Stamp the other week and did a wee bit of shopping...  How's a girl supposed to resist a sale like that???

Anyway, I'm playing along with the colors at the Play Date Cafe and the Stamptember challenge at Simon Says Stamp.  I love those sassy boots and I think they look fabulous in that peach colour.  I used PTI's Linen & Canvas impression plate on the card base for some texture and thought it made it kind of denimish so I added some eyelets to go along with the cowgirl/denim theme.

Back From Exile

I have spent the last week and a half in the seven circles of computer hell.  My old Mac has been on it's last legs for a while and I finally got a new one but was not prepared for how few things would transfer easily from one to the other.  Quicken and Canon's ImageBrowser are now the bane of my existence and at the moment it's taking both computers in order to accomplish editing and uploading photos.  I'm slowly figuring things out but in the meantime there are a lot of bad words being said and I apologize for not visiting anyone lately.  I will be back as soon as I can sit at the computer for more that 10 minutes without wanting to throw it out the window!

I did finally mange to get a few cards made and uploaded today including this one for the Play Date Cafe.  I used the new Dreamcatcher set that I won from Market Street Stamps latest release.  That first feather is actually an evergreen color but I'm still getting the hang of my new photo editing as per above!!  I'm also going to enter this in the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.
