CASology #370

Welcome to Week 370 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Today's cue word gave me the nudge to finally pull out this SugarPea Designs stamp and die set and put it to use.  This is probably the fastest a card has come together for me in ages which seems fitting for a super CAS guy card.  The Dad and mustache were die cut multiple times and stacked for some dimension.  I added the argyle stripe at the bottom because an odd number of lines feels more balanced I wanted red at the top and bottom of the stack.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

***We're switching to a monthly challenge schedule for the summer so you have 4 weeks to play along!***

CASology #202

Welcome to Week 202 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Hi there!  Just in time for Father's Day we have a masculine challenge for you.  I used a sort of faux embossing technique this week.  I attached white die cuts to a white card base which adds some texture and dimension without being too busy.  By using only one colour along with black the design stays simple.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Best Dad I Ever Saw

I've got another Father's Day card for you today - this one far more CAS than yesterday's.  In fact it came together super quickly which is always rare for me.  A strip of woodgrain paper, a saw die, a sentiment and voila - done!  Love it!

The weekend is almost here!  We're going to a BBQ tomorrow night so I have to bake some S'Mores cookies for that.  Yum!  We'll see how many actually make it to the party...
Any big plans for your weekend?

Best Daddy Ever

I was recently asked to make a Father's Day card from 2 little boys and this idea came into my head pretty quickly.  I thought the primary colours were perfect for kids and it turns out that the dad's father was a pilot so I definitely picked the right images!

I stamped, die cut and Copic coloured the Taylored Expressions airplanes and popped them up on foam tape.  The clouds are Papertrey Ink, the banners are Simon Says Stamp and the letters are Lawn Fawn.  It's bigger than usual - 5x7 - because mom wanted to make sure her little guys had plenty of room to each write a message.  :)  I'm going to enter this in the Father's Day challenge at the Paper Players and also the Father's Day/For a Guy challenge at the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.

Fathers and Feathers

Hi there!  I've got two cards to share today.  First up is a card for The Paper Players' masculine challenge.  I finally broke down and ordered some Taylored Expressions stamps and dies and I love them!  I actually opened them up and used them right away which I almost never do.  Usually I ponder new acquisitions for ages and wonder why I thought I'd be able to actually do justice to them.

This design came together really quickly.  I used Stampin' Up's brushed gold and silver cardstock for the tools and they look so cool - just the slightest bit of shimmer to them.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Brushed Silver, Brushed Gold, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from All the Fixings) Taylored Expressions
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (All the Fixings) Taylored Expressions

Next up is a card for two challenges.  I took the colours from The Challenge and paired them with Fanciful Feathers for WPlus9's Throwback Thursday Challenge.  I remember when this stamp set came out - I saw those feathers all over the place and I HAD to have them.  I couldn't tell you the last time I inked them up though.  I need to take part in this kind of challenge more often!

Okay, that's it for me.  Back to work for now but tomorrow is Friday. Whoop whoop!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White, Kraft) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Feathers & sentiment from Fanciful Feathers) WPlus9
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Calypso Coral, Night of Navy, Crumb Cake) Stampin' Up

CASology #148

Welcome to Week 148 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

While my card last week had no stamping on it, this week I have a stamps only, one layer card.  I hadn't come up with an idea for a design yet when I stumbled across this Avery Elle sentiment which had the very word I needed included in it.  Perfect!  And even more perfect as I need a few Father's Day cards.

The design team gallery is a lot of fun this week with all kinds of cool ideas for the cue word. Be sure to peruse all the gorgeousness and then play along!

And this week's guest designer:

The Man, The Myth, The Legend

I haven't been keeping the card rack at work very well stocked lately so I'm trying to knuckle down and really crank out some cards.  Father's Day is coming up so I've been focusing on guy cards and the colours from this week's Colour Throwdown challenge seemed kind of masculine to me so I put them to work.  I used some Avery Elle NBUS here and I had fun playing with these banners - I love how they frame the "dad"!  That's it for now but I'll be back later with another card.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzazz)  Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiments from The Man, Flag from To The Point) Avery Elle
Inks:  (Soft Sky, Early Espresso) Stampin' Up

CASology #8

Welcome to Week 8 of CASology!  Here's the cue card for this week:

When I think of relaxing I think of sofas and naps!  I'm a big fan of both.  :)  And so are a lot of dads I know so I went very specific for this card and made a Father's Day card.  Yes, I'm about 10 months early but at least it's one in the stash for next year so for once I'm ahead of the game!

Be sure and check out the rest of the design team for some fabulous inspiration!

Vroom Vroom!

I'm playing along with three challenges for this card.  I started by using the sketch from The Paper Players.  I flipped it 180 degrees and simplified it a bit - no element across the top of mine (so it might be out of the running but so be it).  I stamped and  paper pieced the scooter instead of colouring it (because I prefer paper piecing) and so this is eligible for Young Crafters Unite's challenge - No Colouring Allowed..  How perfect for me!  And finally, of course, this is going in for the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.
That scooter reminds me of my first bike.  Here in Bermuda you can get a bike license when you turn 16 (no car license until you're 18).  You can also only have one car per household so most families have a car and a few bikes on hand.  I made a Father's Day card because more often than not the moms around here commandeer the cars so dads go off to work on their scooters in their Bermuda shorts with their ties flapping in the wind.  :)
Cardstock:  (Cream) Pacon, (Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, Marina Mist, Soft Suede) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Scooter & smoke from Spiffy Scooters, Sentiments from Birthday Buddies, My Guy, & Alphadots) Paper Smooches
Ink: (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
