Christmas Duo

Hi there!  I've got two cards to share this evening for three challenges.  First up is for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  I've had this Technique Tuesday sentiment for ages and today it finally got it's moment to shine (or twinkle even)!  I have lots of American Crafts glitter tape kicking around and thought it would compliment the sentiment well.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Twinkle On) Technique Tuesday
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Tape:  American Crafts
Gems:  Recollections

This card is for two challenges.  Lawnscaping is having a CAS challenge and I took inspiration from the photo at Inspired By All The Little Things for my design.  These Lawn Fawn stamps are all NBUS too.  I ordered them last year but they arrived too late for the holidays.  Saves me from having to order Christmas stamps for this year.
Ha ha ha ha ha!
Yeah right...

Musical Butterflies & Lanterns

Hello!  I'm here today with two CAS cards for 4 challenges.  First up is a one layer card made with Skipping Stones Designs stamps.  I used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch for my design and the butterflies have music notes inside of them so I am playing along with Addicted to CAS's music challenge.  I used some mini cube Distress Inks for the butterflies and I love the bright colours!  I was thinking I might make a set of these but change up the colours and sentiment.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (All from Heartsong) Skipping Stones Designs
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks) Ranger
Gems:  Recollections

For my next card I combined Lawnscaping's patterns challenge with the light source challenge at the Paper Players.  I paper pieced the lanterns with glittery DCWV papers and popped them up on foam tape for some dimension.  This is a pretty old LF set but one I've gotten plenty of use out of over the years.  You can see the sparkle a bit better
in this close up.

That's all for now.  Have a wonderful day!

CASology #186

Welcome to Week 186 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I went straight for the watercolor smooshing technique when I saw this cue word.  I used Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and smooshed it on some watercolor paper, dried it and smooshed some more on top.  I did that a few times and love the cool texture it ended up with.  I die cut a circle from the smooshed paper, paper pieced the Lawn Fawn whale and popped him up on foam tape.

Now it's your turn to show us your CAS distress cards so check out the beautiful inspiration from the rest of the design team and then play along!

And this week's guest designer:

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember that the deadline for entries is Monday at noon (CST).

I'm also going to enter my card in the Celebration challenge at Lawnscaping.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Watercolor) Ranger, (Tangelo Twist) Stamping' Up
Patterned Papers:  (Something Wonderful 6x6) Teresa Collins
Stamps:  (Whale & sentiment from Critters of the Sea, Party hat from Hats Off to You, Birthday from So Much to Say) Lawn Fawn
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Peacock Feathers Distress Ink) Ranger

Wreath & Flower

Luis was out with the boys today so I made it into the Craft Cave today for the first time in a week.  I managed to get a few cards put together and am going to share two of them tonight.  This first one was inspired by the current ColourQ palette and photo.  I finally broke open this gorgeous WPlus9 Woodland Wreaths set to make this clean and layered card.  I added clear Wink of Stella to all the berries for lots of sparkle.  I'm also going to enter this in the Simon Says Wednesday Christmas challenge and the Addicted to Stamps And More Anything Goes challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Soft Sky) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Wreath & bow from Woodland Wreaths) WPlus9, (Sentiment from Think Big Favourites #20) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry, Wisteria Wonder, Sahara Sand) Stampin' Up
Dies:  (Scalloped panel, Stitched panel) Mama Elephant
Gems:  Doodlebug
Glitter:  (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig

My next card uses the sketch (a very pared down interpretation of it perhaps!) and the thankful theme from The Friday Mash-Up.  I used a flower and a sentiment from older, neglected Lawn Fawn sets so I'm also entering this in the Lawnscaping In With the Old challenge.  I'm trying to make an effort to create more cards with coloured card bases so that I can jazz up my card stand a little bit.  I've been making lots of super CAS cards lately so I feel like I need to inject some colour to grab people's attention.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Old Olive) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flower from Judy's Blooms, Sentiment from Our Friendship Grows) Lawn Fawn
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Markers:  (R17, YR16, Y15) Copic

Winter Fox

I'm popping in before I head back work to share a card for a four challenges.  I started out with using the colour palette from The Colour Throwdown.  Because of the orange I decided I wanted to use a fox image so I pulled out this NBUS stamp from Lawn Fawn.  I think sending warm winter wishes constitutes thinking of someone so I'm entering this in the Lawnscaping Thinking of You challenge.  Just Add Ink has asked us to Just Add "W" this week and I have a triple "W" in my sentiment.  Finally there's an Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge and the DT focused on Lawn Fawn products so I thought this card would be a perfect entry.

I did more paper piecing with coloured cardstock.  I should really just get over my fear of colouring because it would probably save me a lot of time but I do like the end result once all the fussy cutting is done.  Must dash - lots of hungry cats to be fed!  Have a lovely evening!

Three for Wednesday

Hi there!  I had a good few hours in the Card Cave today and I've got 3 cards to share for now.  First up is an entry for the Lawnscaping Back to School challenge.  I had to get a little creative here since I don't have any of the LF school or library sets.  I used these Louie's ABCs dies for the first time and I love them - such a fun font!  I stuck with primary colours (and a tiny touch of green) for a primary school feel and added the strip of black as a sort of blackboard.  Do they even have those anymore or are blackboards a total WHO?

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Apple from My Silly Valentine, Rosette from Admit One) Lawn Fawn
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko
Dies:  (Louie's ABCs) Lawn Fawn

Next up is a card for the Just Add Ink inspiration challenge.  I got this fun My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper pack that's all different woodgrains and wood patterns.  It was the first thing I thought of when I saw these inspiration pictures.  I also zeroed in on the white vase and broke out this Papertrey Ink die for the first time.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Apple from My Silly Valentine, Rosette from Admit One) Lawn Fawn
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko
Dies:  (Louie's ABCs) Lawn Fawn

My final card uses the CAS(E) This Sketch design and the colours and photo from Cupcake Inspirations.  I love this little Lawn Fawn crab - he's so cute!  How could you not forgive him for being crabby?  :)  Time to jet off to work.  I'll have another card to share tomorrow.

CASology #157

Welcome to Week 157 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

This card is one of those rare examples where the design I saw in my head is pretty much how the actual card turned out.  It's super simple but I just love that little rainbow of butterflies!  I'm guessing we'll see a lot of butterflies this week (because really, they are one of the prettiest things around that have wings) but I'll be excited to see what else you all come up with for this week's challenge.  Be sure to check out the gorgeous creations from the rest of the design team and then play along!

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember that the deadline for entries is Monday at noon (CST).

I'm also going to enter this card in the Lawnscaping Inspired by the Rainbow challenge and the Just Add Ink Butteflies challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) PaperTrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Butterfly from Critters in the Park, Sentiment from Sophie's Sentiments) Lawn Fawn

Embossing Powder:  (Seafoam White) Ranger
Glitter:  (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig

Wednesday Triple Play

I've got three cards to share with you today.  The first is for the Lawnscaping Birthday challenge where they're celebrating their 100th challenge!  Whoop whoop!  I went on a patterned paper bender with this card using papers from Echo Park, Jillibean Soup and Studio Calico.  All the stamps and the speech bubble die are from Lawn Fawn.  Totally out of my CAS comfort zone but I'm digging the bright colours and patting myself on the back for the use of patterned paper.  :)  I'm also going to enter this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes challenge where the design team is showcasing Lawn Fawn products.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  (Dark yellow, green & turquoise from This & That Charming 6x6, Pink from This & That Graceful 6x6) Echo Park, (Dark brown & light yellow from Homemade 6 Bean Soup 6x6) Jillibean Soup, (Beige from Classic Calico Collection Vol. 2) Studio Calico
Stamps:  (Dog from Critters at the Dog Park, Cupcake from Bake Me a Cake, Sentiment from Grand Greetings) Lawn Fawn
Inks: (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Die:  (Speech Bubble Border) Lawn Fawn

My second card uses the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch and the colours from Just Us Girls.  I masked and inked the centre stripe with Sahara Sand and then paper pieced the balloons with Soft Sky and Night of Navy.  The Papertrey Ink Happy has a layer of Clear Wink of Stella coating it and the balloons are covered with Glossy Accents.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Regal Rose, Soft Sky, Night of Navy) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Balloons from So Much To Say) Lawn Fawn, (Birthday from Halftone Hello) Altenew
Inks: (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Sahara Sand) Stampin' Up
Die:  (Happy) Papertrey Ink
Glitter:  (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig
Other:  (Glossy Accents) Ranger

My final card is for Papertrey Ink's February Blog Hop.  I don't think I've ever taken part in one of these hops before so I'm excited to join in!  I took another crack at watercolouring and created a wash on some Tim Holtz watercolor paper which I then covered with PTI's Quatrefoil cover plate.  I layered up two Life Is Beautiful butterfly dies and the sentiment is from Script Sentiments.  Okay, that's it from me today.  See you tomorrow!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Watercolour) Ranger, (White) Bazzill, (Raspberry Ripple, Perfect Plum, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Script Sentiments) Papertrey Ink
Inks: (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Coverplate:  Quatrefoil, Life Is Beautiful) Papertrey Ink
