Stripes & Anchor

Today I'm playing along with The Card Concept.  My CAS design was inspired by the stripes on the left of the photo and the general nautical theme.  The anchor and sentiment are both from Paper Smooches.  I used the wonderful Quick Stripes dies from Mama Elephant to cut the stripes.  How did I ever live without them??

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Crushed Curry, Emerald Envy, Night of Navy, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Wicked Nautical) Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko

Mother's Day Flower

Popping in today with a CAS card for The Card Concept.  I was inspired by the purple flowers and grey vase.  I used the same flower and a similar layout recently but changing up the flower colour and background gave it a completely different vibe - a softer feel that I thought would appeal to my mom for Mother's Day.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Flower from Build-a-Flower Magnolia, Sentiment from Extra Special, Splatter from Watercolour Frames) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Bamboo, Olive, Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Midnight Violet, Mocha, Silver Stone) Altenew

Alcohol Ink Butterfly

I finally managed to get some crafty time today and this is the first card I made.  I took inspiration  from the photo at The Card Concept to make this CAS card.  Ages ago I was playing round with alcohol inks and I've had a few cardstock panels of it sitting on my desk ever since.  One of them had the perfect colours for this butterfly.  It's an oldie but goodie PTI butterfly die.  I cut it twice from black cardstock to layer up the "frame" of it and then filled it in with a cut from the alcohol ink panel.  The sentiment is from Avery Elle and I placed a few gold Nuvo Crystal Drops around it to make it pop.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, ( Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Cake and Candles) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Raspberry, Sailboat Blue, Purple Twilight, Gold) Ranger Alcohol Inks
Dies:  (Butterfly) Papertrey Ink

Cupcake Birthday

I've got a quick card today for the Card Concept challenge.  I was inspired by those yummy looking cupcakes with that perfectly swirled icing.  They made me think of this Neat & Tangled set which I thought would be fun to paper piece.  I pulled out some ancient Basic Grey patterned paper and put together this CAS (or maybe slightly Clean and Layered) design.  The cupcake and speech bubble are popped up on foam tape for a bit of dimension.  And now I think I might go and do a little baking...

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Papers:  (Brown from Obscure 12x12, Others from Kioshi 12x12) Basic Grey
Stamps:  (All from Sketchy Cupcakes) Neat & Tangled

You Got This

Today's card is for threes challenges - CAS Colours & Sketches, Fusion (I turned the sketch 90 degrees to the left) and The Card Concept (CAS style).  Both the photo prompts have warm and cozy hot chocolate/coffee images so I reached for my favourite coffee mug die from Lil'Inker Designs.  They have a great set of sentiments that fit on the cup so I could easily make a whole set of cards just by changing up the sentiment and the colour combo.

Supplies Used:

Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Textured White) Bazzill, (Cherry Cobbler, Bermuda By, Pool Party, Soft Suede) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Coffee Talk) Lil' Inker Designs
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko

Party Pooch

It's been a good few weeks since I've spent time in the craft room.  I'm usually a hide-in-the-air-conditioning kind of girl in the summer but for some reason this year I've been wanting to spend more time outside.  The weather's been gorgeous for the most part and my friend, Michael, basically told me, "If you're not going to make use of your waterfront then I will!"  He planned a birthday dock party for me and comes around regularly to drag me out for a swim.  I'm loving it.  We practically lived down at the dock when I was a kid but in the last few years, especially since our last two dogs haven't been interested in swimming, we haven't been down there much.  I'm glad that has changed this year.

The casualty of that change is that I'm making fewer cards but the weather will turn eventually and cards will take priority again.  I managed to make a few cards today.  This one is for The Card Concept and I think it fits into the Clean and Layered category.  The adorable pooch in the inspiration photo spoke to me immediately and I dug out my Tim Holtz Crazy Dogs and these fun sunglasses from MFT.  This guy definitely looks ready to party so I thought the Reverse Confetti sentiment was perfect for him.

For Fox Sake

I'm back with another one of the non-white-card-base cards I made the other day.  This one is inspired by the photo at The Card Concept and I'd put it in the Clean and Layered category. I've been meaning to make a card with sentiment for ages.  I have both an enamel pin on my bag and a coffee mug with this saying - I love it!  I spent ages dithering about colours and layout for the alpha dies and in the end went for a mixed font sentiment which I think is kinda fun.  And look!  Another scrap of patterned paper used!  Huzzah!

Cardstock:  (Textured White) Bazzill, (Cajun Craze, Lucky Limeade) Stampin' Up

Striped Thanks

Hi there!

After missing out on the fun of World Card Making Day yesterday I made up for it as best I could today.  I managed to get quite a few cards made for challenges and also just for fun.  Tonight I'm sharing a card for The Card Concept (my card is Clean and Layered) and Addicted to Stamps and More (Anything Goes).  I was inspired by the bright yellow flowers in the blue and white striped vase and was excited to finally put this gorgeous Altenew flower to use.  I popped it up on foam tape and added a twine bow which seemed to go along perfectly with the rustic feel of the photo.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Night of Navy) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flower from Handpicked Bouquet, Sentiment from Many Thanks) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Citrus Burst, Fresh Lemon, Maple Yellow, Honey Drizzle, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Evergreen) Altenew

Rockin' Day

Hi there!

The last few weeks have been busy with travel and extra work hours.  All enjoyable but its left little time for crafting.  After a swim around the bay this morning I escaped to my craft room for an hour and came up with a card for three challenges.

When I saw the Card Concept photo inspiration (CAS category for me!) this oldie but goodie Paper Smooches set immediately popped into my head.  The CAS Colours and Sketches colours seemed perfect for the challenge as did the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pool Party) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Painted Beboppin') Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Powder Pink, So Saffron, Pool Party) Stampin' Up, (Cement Grey) My Favourite Things
Dies: (Circle from Burst Die) Avery Elle

Gratitude Boots

Hello there!

I'm here with a card for 3 challenges - The Card Concept (with a clean and layered design), CAS Colours & Sketches and CAS(E) This Sketch.  As soon as I saw the Card Concept photo I knew I'd be digging out this adorable boot die from Paper Smooches.  The colours were fun but they looked a little plain so I added some Lil' Inker Designs stitched flowers to them and used Nuvo Drops in the centre of each for a little shine.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Melon Mambo, Hello Honey, Garden Green, Basic Grey, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Many Thanks) Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Die:  (Rain boot) Paper Smooches, (Stitched flower) Lil' Inker Designs

Homestyle Holiday

Hello there!

I have a card (which I think falls in the Clean & Layered category) for the Card Concept photo inspiration challenge.  I pulled out some new Lil' Inker Designs goodies for this one.  I LOVE this plaid cover plate and used it on a few different cards yesterday.  I took my inspiration from the tree, the pops of red and the dark night outside the window.  I had a little trouble with lighting on this photo but on the tree it says, "May your days be merry and bright."  There are 5 different sentiment ornaments in the set.  I made a card with each and will share them later as I realised I didn't photograph them all.

Rainbows, Unicorns and...Jellyfish?

Hello there!

I've got two cards to share today.  First is for the Card Concept.  I love the rainbow striped wall in the photo and took that as my inspiration.  I love this background die from Taylored Expressions - the different sized stripes add a fun dimension to it.  I've been trying to work out which style this fits into - Clean and Layered perhaps?

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi, Wisteria Wonder, Blushing Bride) Stampin' Up

Alcohol Ink Square & Owl

Hi there!

I've got two cards today.  First a card for two challenges - Freshly Made Sketches and The Card Concept (where I'd categorize my card as Clean and Simple).  I used some alcohol inks to create the square background.  I'm still not all that confident with it but every once in a while I get something passable out of it.  :)  The plant is a Flora & Fauna die stacked up in 3 layers and then covered with Glossy Accents.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Textured White) Bazzill, (Yupo) Ranger, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Many Thanks) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko, (Botanical Alcohol) Ranger
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Die:  (Plant) Flora and Fauna
Other:  (Glossy Accents) Ranger
Gems:  Recollections

Now put your sunglasses on because this next card is a bright one for the MFT Sketch Challenge! Not sure what got into me especially since I always struggle with making animals unusual colours.  However I decided to just go with the flow today and have some fun.  Also I got to pat myself on the back for using not just patterned paper but coloured cardstock as well.  Yay me!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Cucumber Crush, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Fun & Frolic 6x6) My Favourite Things
Stamps:  (Owl & sentiment from I'm Owl Yours) My Favourite Things

Poinsettia Joy

Hello!

Today I'm sharing a Clean and Layered card for the challenge at The Card Concept.  I took my inspiration from the poinsettias, the wood table and the gold of the lights.  I spritzed some Brushos onto watercolor paper and once that dried I stamped the flower and leaves onto them.  I then fussy cut them, popped them up on foam tape and added a sparkly sentiment.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Gold) DCWV
Patterned Paper:  (Woodgrain from Holly Berry Borscht 6x6) Jellybean Soup
Stamps:  (Flower from Poinsettia and Pine) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko
Die:  (Joy) Reverse Confetti
Paint:  (Terracotta, Brilliant Red, Lime Green, Sea Green Brushos) Colourcraft
Glitter:  (Goldenrod Stickles) Ranger

Super Cute Laundry

Hi there!

It was an absolutely perfect day here today - cool, dry, sunny and breezy.  It was wonderful to turn off the air con and have all the doors and windows wide open.  If I could bottle this weather and keep it forever I'd be happy.  :)

I've got a card to share for the current Card Concept challenge - for the clean and layered category I'd say.  I was inspired by the baby theme and the pastel drawers led to my colored rectangles.  The baby clothes and sentiment are NBUS from My Favourite Things.  This was a bit tricky to photograph as the coloured Bazzill paper has a bit of a shine to it.  I'm trying to use up some of the random pieces of coloured card stock that I have kicking around instead of always going straight for my Stampin' Up stuff.  I ended up making 2 since I originally cut 3 pieces of each colour.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up, (Pink, yellow, green, blue, white) Bazzill
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Welcome, Baby) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko
Dies:  (Baby clothes) My Favourite Things, (Stitched Rectangle) Lil' Inker Designs

Congrats Rose

Between work and having friends visiting it's been a busy week so we have laid pretty low this weekend.  Also it's been super hot and humid so I've been happy to chill out indoors for the most part.

I made this card for the current Card Concept challenge and I'd say it falls into the clean and layered category.  I was inspired by the red roses and the black and white paper wrapped around the stems.  Aside from the Basic Grey patterned paper everything else from stamps to ink are Altenew.  I have to say I'm in love with Altenew inks these days.  Such yummy colours and I like the way the cubes are packaged together in colour families.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper:  (Spice Market 6x6) Basic Grey
Stamps:  (Flower from Painted Rose, Sentiment from Build-A-Flower: Magnolia) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko, (Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, Ruby Red, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Evergreen) Altenew

Purple Bottles & Kites

After a busy couple of weeks I was excited to get some crafty time this weekend and not just card making crafty.  Last night a few friends got together to make Bermuda kites.  It's tradition here on Good Friday to fly kites and to eat lots of hot cross buns and fishcakes.
As you can see from the photo we all went for different patterns.  It's a seriously fiddly job cutting the panels and gluing them down and I confess that by 10:30pm I was losing the will to live but I got it done and we'll see on Friday if it flies.

As for my card this is for The Card Concept and I'd say it definitely falls into the clean and simple category.  The bottles and sentiment are from Fresh Squeezed Stamps (sadly closed) and the flower is Altenew.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Bottle from Soda-Lighted, Sentiment from Mother Knows Best) Fresh Squeezed Stamps, (Flower from Doodle Blooms) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFne Onyx Black) Tsukeniko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
