Starry Birthday

Good morning!  I'm popping in with a birthday card for two challenges - the Little Tangles birthday challenge and the Moxie Fab Birthday Card challenge.  This is another one of my "what was I thinking" cards.  LOL!  I stamped the wavy lines from the Little Tangles set which was easy enough. Then I took a star from the Halloween Scene collection, stamped it 24 times, coloured them in and fussy cut all of them!  I don't know what possesses me to cut out these tiny images but I'm glad I did it because I think the end result is really fun!  Off to the Craft Cave to carry on with the special orders.  Have a lovely day!

Hope Your Day Is Sweet

My wish for rain almost came true today as we woke up to thunder and lightning at 5:45am. Atticus did his guard dog duty and went tearing outside to tell off whoever was making all that noise. :)  Despite the noise and light show we only got a sprinkle of rain.  The rest of the day was just cloudy and muggy.  Good enough for staying in the Craft Cave though!

I'm working on my special orders but I also took some time to play.  I combined a few challenges for this card.  The colours were taken from the latest Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger challenge.  As soon as I saw the inspiration photo I thought of these Doodlebug papers that have been languishing in my stash.  I paired them up with the sketch from the Fusion challenge and used stamps from the Sweet Stamp Shop - I'll be joining their Use What You Have Challenge since my papers are from 2005!

Bright Butterfly

Happy Friday, everyone!  Just popping in with a quick card to link up to Unity's Friends With Flair hop.  I played around a little bit with some Twinkling H2Os.  I need to play some more I think.  Perhaps I'll get a chance this weekend.  I've told Luis that I'll be holed up in the Craft Cave for the next two days as I have 3 big special orders to get done.  I'm crossing my fingers for rain so I'm not tempted out into the sunshine...  :)

CAS(E) This Sketch #36

Welcome to Week 36 of CAS(E) this Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch designed by N@ Ali:

I think I may permanently borrow Darnell's acronym of NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) because I'm trying to reduce the amount of it that's in the Craft Cave.  The flower/frame stamp is a Hero Arts one that I got from the lovely Amy Tsuruta sometime last year.  While I've used a few stamps from the TCM set Vintage Clocks, I hadn't used this sentiment before.  And, all the patterned papers were sitting in pristine 6x6 pads on a shelf.  Whoop whoop for using schtuff!  Now if I could just use more than these tiny bits at a time...

Now hop on over to the CAS(E) This Sketch blog and check out the gorgeous creations by the rest of the DT and then join in with the fun!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  (Yellow, orange and green from Bold & Bright Double Dot Designs) Bo Bunny, (Chevrons from PB&J collection) Basic Grey, (Grey from On The Bright Side Two) My Mind's Eye
Stamps:  (Flower frame from Enjoy) Hero Arts, (Sentiment from Vintage Clocks) The Craft's Meow
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Gems:  (Mini Pearls Bumblebee assortment) Doodlebug

Christmas In July

It may only be July but Christmas will be here any minute.  As much as I hate to think about it now I guess it won't hurt to get my butt in gear and start making some cards!  The Paper Players have asked for Christmas cards this week so here you go!  I couldn't quite bring myself to go all red and green at this time of year so I went pink instead!  Maybe I could make a set in a few different colours....

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White, pink) Bazzill
Stamps:  (Ornaments & sentiment) Hero Arts
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko, (Raspberry Ripple) Stampin' Up
Embossing Powder:  (Seafoam White) Ranger

CASology #52

Welcome to Week 52 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

I bought this neon cardstock about 6 years ago when I first started crafting - clearly I was way ahead of the trend!  LOL!!  The only colour I seem to have used much of is the pink (although when and on what I have no idea...).  I was glad to put a few scraps of it to work this week in my never-ending effort to work through my stash.  I also inked up these Paper Smooches stamps for the first time so I can pat myself on the back for that too.

There are quite a few bloggers and challenges encouraging us to use our stash these days (and I need all the encouragement I can get).  Darnell of djkardkreations is currently working through her NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff),  The Sweet Stamp Shop has started a weekly Use What You Have challenge and the Shopping Our Stash Challenge has been around for a while.  As Darnell said, "This definitely feels like a 'Year of the Use It'." I'm down with that.  Hopefully it will not only help me cull the stash but will also distract me from the current shopping ban...  :(

Okay, enough of my blathering.  Time for you to head over to the CASology blog and check out the awesome designs by the rest of the DT.  Then you have to put on your 80s thinking caps and get crazy with the NEON!

And this week's guest designer:

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember that submissions are due by 4pm CST on Sunday, July 14th.

Happy Bark-Day!

Back in late 2010 when I first started blogging I stumbled across a challenge called the Curtain Call Colour Challenge.  It was my first introduction to colour challenges and also to Stampin' Up colours. Unfortunately it was only 6 months later that the challenge closed.  My cards from that time are pretty cringe inducing but I learned a lot especially by studying the winners.  All this to say that the Curtain Call challenge will be returning!   It's now known as the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge and Stacey Schafer has been introducing the new "Crew Members" for the last week.  And let me tell you, it's an awesome crew so far!  The challenges don't start until July 15th but for now Stacey's got another challenge for us on her personal blog.

In honour of her birthday Stacy's having a Birthday Linky Party!  Create a birthday card, link it up, check out all the gorgeous entries and possibly win a prize.  Not a bad way to celebrate!  It's also a well timed challenge for me as I was asked to create a set of birthday cards for some puppies.  A breeder wants to send 1st birthday cards to the owners of the puppies from her last litter.  I decided to use the same layout and just change up the colours.  I dug into my stash and came out with the Lucky collection from Basic Grey (which apparently is so old I couldn't even find it on the retired list!).  I paper pieced these cute Unity pooches and Lawn Fawn party hats and added a Paper Smooches sentiment.  Love how they turned out!
