CASology #396

Welcome to Week 396 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

This was the sentiment that immediately came to mind when I saw this week's cue word.  I tried a couple of different layouts but finally settled on clustering the elements in the corner.  I used yellow ink for the sentiment to mimic the setting sun.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

You're Worth It

Today's card is for the Freshly Made Sketches and Colour Throwdown challenges.  I knew I wanted to use this My Mind's Eye paper for the CTD challenge so then I just had to decide what to use it with.  This Memory Box bird has been sitting on my desk for ages (along with a bunch of his friends in every colour of the rainbow) so I put him to work with an encouragement sentiment and am pleased with the result!

Fusion Thoughts

I'm popping in with a last minute card for the Fusion challenge.  I was inspired mostly by the sketch but also took some colour inspiration from the cake.  I trimmed the stems off of some Memory Box flowers to create these funky blooms and dug out some Kaisercraft paper to use for the background strips.  The sentiment is an often used one from Altenew.

Copper Bird

Good morning!

I've got another card to share from the weekend's crafty sessions.  This is for the Colour Throwdown where we had to use black, white and copper.  I managed to dig up some Ranger copper embossing powder and used it to coat the Memory Box bird die.  It's not quite that dark in real life but I struggled to capture it in the photo.  Below the sentiment is also a strip of copper coloured glitter tape.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Textured White) Bazzill, (Chocolate Chip, Basic Black) Stampin' Up

Two Birds (But No Stone)

Hello hello!

I have two cards to share today.  First is for Keren's Lovely Layers Challenge for the Winnie & Walter WCMD celebrations using the sketch from Merry Monday.  Another adorable birdie in a Santa hat makes an appearance!  I used W&W dies for the scalloped layers and the birdie is popped up on foam tape.  I thought it was kind of fun to have a yellow card base - not your usual Christmas colour but it helps make the birdie pop a bit.  I also added Stickles and Wink of Stella to his hat for some festive sparkle.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (12x12 polka dots) Doodlebug
Stamps:  (Bird & ornaments from Happy Owlidays, Christmas from The Big, The Bold and The Merry) Winnie & Walter
Inks:  (Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukeniko, (Real Red) Stampin' Up
Die:  (Scalloped rectangle) Winnie & Walter
Markers:  (R17, R29, Y15, Y38) Copic
Glitter:  (Frosted Lace Stickles) Ranger, (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig

This next card is for the AAA Cards sketch challenge.  It had me stumped until I came across this Memory Box branch while I was flipping through dies.  It seemed perfect for the stripe on the sketch.  This little MB bird is an old favourite - one of those dies I've definitely gotten my money's worth from!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Marina Mist, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Essentials Collection 6x6) Authentique
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Calm & Gentle) CAS-ual Fridays
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko
Die:  (Perched Reed Bird, Woodland Branch) Memory Box

Bird in Wreath

I made this card a few days ago but have since been fighting off a summer cold (kindly gifted to me by my darling husband) and never got around to posting it.  However the Colour Throwdown challenge ends in a few hours so here I am at the last minute.  I'm continuing with my efforts to get ahead with Christmas cards and trying to make a few of each design (depending on how fiddly they are).  This one, being mostly die cuts, came together fairly easily so I made a few.  (Pats self on back).  Hopefully I'll have more to share later in the week.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White, Soft Stone) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Hand Lettered Holiday) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko
Dies:  (Meadow bird) Memory Box, (Star Frame) Avery Elle, (Wreath) Papertrey Ink

CASology #246

Welcome to Week 246 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I've made several variations of this card over the years but I'm really loving this one with the MFT sentiment and stitched arch die.  It almost looks like a snow globe except for the tree peeking over the top.  :)

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Brusho Flower & Pink Butterflies

Hi there!  I have two cards to share today.  First up is for The Flower Challenge's sketch challenge and I'm also playing along with the Showers and/or Flowers challenge at the Simon Says Wednesday challenge.  I sprinkled and spritzed some Brushos onto watercolor paper and then stamped the Winnie & Walter flower and leaves over the colours.  I fussy cut them and popped them up on foam tape over the strips of glitter tape, added a Hero Arts sentiment and some gems and was done!  I'm pleased with how this flower came out.  On my first attempt I used way too much powder and water and the colours were so dark that the flower didn't show up.  I really need to devote a bit more time to playing with these powders.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Flower from In Bloom: Addie's Garden) Winnie & Walter, (Sentiment from CL334) Hero Arts
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko, (Jet Black Archival Ink) Ranger
Embossing Powder:  (Clear) Hero Arts
Brushos:  (Sunburst Lemon, Sea Green, Turquoise, Violet) Colourcraft
Tape:  (Black glitter tape) American Crafts
Gems:  Recollections

Next is a card for the Time Out photo inspiration challenge.  I love this picture and the feeling of movement from those gorgeous pink butterflies.  I dug out some My Favourite Things and Memory Box butterflies and plenty of Rose Red paper and set to work die cutting.  I had intended on a much more random placement of the butterflies but before I knew it I ended up with this symmetrical pattern so I just went with it.  A few of the butterflies are layered and the central ones have gems.  I like how it's kind of CAS and busy all at the same time.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Textured White) Bazzill, (Rose Red, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Scandinavian Prints) Neat & Tangled
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukeniko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow

Palm Silhouette

Hi there!  I just have one card for today but it's for a few different challenges.  I love the palms silhouetted against the sunset in the photo at The Color Throwdown so I broke out my Memory Box palm die to use with their colours.  I also took inspiration from the photo over at Time Out - I kept the bright colours to one part of my card like the colors there are just in the window.  AAA Cards is looking for CAS masking and it's Make Your Mark week at Addicted to Stamps and More.  I inked my panel with Distress Inks and added a sentiment from CASual Fridays.  A thinking of you sentiment just seems suited to a lonely palm.

To Every Thing There Is A Season

I mentioned earlier in the week that I was working on a new card order.  My client asked for a variety of cards that would express "something along the lines of one season is ending and another is beginning."  Luckily I had the perfect sentiment from the Vintage Clocks stamp set from The Craft's Meow (sadly now closed).  She was thrilled with the sentiment so I got to work making 10 cards.  I had fun using lots of patterned papers and dies and keeping the stamping to a minimum.  I always feel proud when I put a dent (no matter how tiny) in the patterned paper stash!

Lions & Birdies & Clouds… Oh My!

I didn't make it into the Craft Cave over the weekend but I had some time in there today and I got a few cards made.  First up is for the ColourQ challenge using new (to me) WPlus9 supplies.  I've been wanting these dies and stamps for ages and finally managed to catch them while they were back in stock.  The ColourQ colours were just calling out to be used with this set!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Summer Starfruit, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up, (Rust) Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  (Dots & Stripes Metropolitan 6x6) Echo Park
Stamps:  (All from Sending Sunshine) WPlus9
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Cloud Border, Sunshine Layers) WPlus9
Gems:  Recollections

Next is a card for the Fusion challenge.  I used the sketch and took it very literally!  The inspiration photo made me think of this particular Glitz 6x6 paper pad although you wouldn't know it by looking at the papers I ended up using!  This little Memory Box bird is one of my favourites and definitely gets a lot of use.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  (77 6x6) Glitz
Stamps:  (Sentiment from CL342) Hero Arts
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Perched Reed Bird) Memory Box, (Stitched Circles) Lil' Inker Designs
Gems:  Recollections

Finally is a card that started with the Sketch for You to Try at Reverse Confetti.  Clearly I was in a real patterned paper mood today between this card and the last one.  Definitely not my usual CAS style.  This card also made me think of the new photo inspiration over at The Challenge.  Bright colours, patterns, a banner and a birthday?  Perfect!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper:  (The Citrus Matstack) DCWV
Stamps:  (All from Leaping Lions) Reverse Confetti
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Stitched Circles) Lil' Inker Desings
Gems:  (Ladybug assortment) Doodlebug
