Best Friends Forever

Hi there!  I've got a bright and cheery card today for the Embellish challenge.  I really pushed myself to go out of my comfort zone here.  I find that I tend to be very literal when it comes to colours (leaves are always green, the sun is always yellow, etc).  Red and yellow together make me think of ketchup and mustard and therefore, burgers and hot dogs! LOL!  However, I managed to steer away from the food images and I'm pleased with where I ended up.  I used some Basic Grey and Doodlebug patterned papers for the flower and frame along with one of the awesome sentiments from Market Street Stamps' Great Big Greetings.  I really had fun with this in the end and am definitely going to try and relax a bit more in the colour department in the future.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill (Daffoldil Delight, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Polka Dots from June Bug collection) Basic Grey, (Stripes) Doodlebug
Stamp:  (Sentiment from Great Big Greetings) Market Street Stamps
Inks:  (Poppy Parade, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Dies:  (Beautiful Blooms II #1, Turning a New Leaf) PTI, (Nestabilities Large Labels) Spellbinders

A Quart of Trees

I was excited to find two current challenges, Embellish and The Paper Players, that asked us to use trees on our projects.  I'm not sure why but I love tree stamps and I really have way too many of them.  Or not.  Can you ever have too many stamps?  Do you ever feel like no matter how many you have, sometimes you don't have just the right stamp for your card?  Despite how many tree stamps I have it took forever to find the right one for this card but I finally settled on this tree from Bella Trees, one of the first Unity sets I ever bought.  I used the colors from the Embellish challenge and I wanted to enter it in the Gallon/Quart/Pint challenge at the Moxie Fab World.  Cath says, "When following this rule, neutrals don't count" so the blue is the gallon, the green is the quart and the yellow is the pint.

Here's the latest map on Hurricane Leslie.  Preparations are in full swing!

Sending A Cuppa

Good evening!  Just popping in quickly with a card for a couple of challenges. It's Block Party time over at Market Street Stamps so I decided to finally ink up my Daily Grind stamps.  And, it just so happens that Embellish is having a Tea Party challenge to use their colour palette along with tea related images.  How perfect!  I love when challenges come together in harmony!  LOL!

I also wanted to share the card I had published in Stamp It Cards! Vol. 9 (on page 101):

Chevron Vase

**This is my second post for the day.  Please scroll down or click here for my Retrosketches/JUGS post**

As promised I'm back with another post. This card is for the latest Embellish challenge - this time to use chevrons and this sweet colour palette in your design. I've seen this layout around a lot lately - and used it once before - and really like it's versatility.  For this card I pulled out 4 Papertrey Ink sets to ink up and dressed up the flowers with some bling.  I'll also be sending this card over to the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge to meet up with it's friends from my last few posts!  :)

I'm trying to make lots of Mother's and Father's Day cards as I have an Art in the Park event coming up next weekend and figure these might be handy to have.  Should really make some graduation cards too...

Embellish Is Back!

After a little hiatus the Embellish challenge is back and this time they've given us spring colours to go along with a spring theme.  And, of course, now that I'm looking at my card on screen next to the Embellish colours I see that my darker pink is waaaay off.  Hmmm...  It's going to have to do for now though as I am in my usual state of Thursday night knackeredness and am not going to be fixing it before the deadline.  Clearly I was having eye issues yesterday!!  Perhaps I'll put in a fresh pair of contact lenses before the next challenge...

Let's Hang Out

I managed to avoid the call of the Angry Birds long enough to get 4 cards completed yesterday including this one for the Embellish Banners Colour Trends Challenge.  I made my banner out of flowers and leaves.  Don't think I've made too many banners out of flags actually.  I tend to make them out of other things like this one and this one.
Gotta jet to work - it's my long day today.  Hope you all have a wonderful one!  :)

Chair Friends

I didn't think I'd make it with an entry for the latest Embellish challenge but I am squeaking in on the last day.  I used PTI's chair dies as well as a rectangle Nestie for this die cuts challenge.  It's my first time using these PTI sets and I love those little pillows.
Keeping it short as it was a looong day at work today.  I am knackered and since we've had so much rain lately I am going to treat myself to a hot bath!  Ahhhh bliss!

Button Balloons

After having this Up, Up & Away stamp set for almost a year now it's funny that it's suddenly caught my interest and keeps appearing on cards.  I'm just so bad at keeping up with the latest goodies - I always seem to be a beat behind.  Ah well, better using them late than never I guess.  This card is for the Embellish colours and buttons challenge.  I don't use buttons too often (although they must be breeding in the Craft Cave because there sure are a lot of them around here) so it felt good to use a few on this card. The colours are kind of masculine but I don't know if those button balloons are... the jury's still out on that one!

Circles Circles Circles

***Click here for a chance to win a Print Candee gift certificate!***

Today's card is to be entered in the Embellish challenge (to use the colour palette and circles) and also in A Passion for Papertrey's Goin' Geometric challenge.  I used more of my 2010 PTI Christmas stamps on this card and, of course, that PTI embossing folder had to be used!  It's so perfect for both challenges!
Thankfully I managed to complete this project yesterday just before the embossing powder fiasco.  Whew!  That would have been tragic to grind to a halt right in the middle of a card.  :)
Clearly all the Christmas goodies popping up online are starting to get to me since this is my third Christmas card in a row.  Perhaps the cooler weather is helping too.  After it poured with rain all day last Tuesday the humidity and the temperatures both dropped.  What a relief to turn off the air con and have all the windows and doors wide open for some much needed fresh air.  Love it!

Embellished Friends

Back in the beginning of July I was so proud of myself for finally jumping in and playing along with an Embellish challenge.  And then I haven't played again since!  Time to rectify that situation so I'm joining in with this week's Colouring challenge.  I thought this flowery Hero Arts stamp was perfect for the colours and (surprise surprise) it's the first time it's seen ink.  I decided to do something a little different with my sentiment instead of my usual (just mounting it on Pop Dots and calling it a day).  I took inspiration from all the canopies that are around in the summer.  I've also seen several houses where people have taken actual boat sails and strung them up to provide shade.  So I strung my sentiment on some green Twinery twine (a birthday gift from Emily) and anchored them around the corner flowers which I popped up.  I even went old school and busted out some eyelets for the corners.  And not just any eyelets - pink eyelets!  Yes, I own eyelets in every colour of the rainbow.  Don't judge me.

Rainbow Hearts

I've never played along with an Embellish challenge before but I look at them every time they're posted and I swear every time that this will be the challenge that I take part in.  And here I am.  Finally.  Took a rainbow to get me here but hey, whatever works!
Supplies: CS: Bazzill & PTI; Stamps: Purple Onion Designs & Paper Smooches; Ink:  SU Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry
And with this card I christen my Purple Onion Designs stamps!  I have been eying up these stamps for ages and finally made a purchase which arrived last Thursday.  I got ragged on pretty hard at work as I spent my lunch break cooing over my new goodies.  LOL!  They can rib me all they want though because they buy plenty of cards!  :)
