Wedding Frame

Hi there!

I'm popping in with a quick card for the Just Us Girls Frame It challenge.  I was inspired by this gorgeous Christmas card by Amy Rohl.  I used some Reverse Confetti leaves with a Paper Smooches frame and my favourite wedding sentiment by Altenew.  That's it for now - gotta dash to work!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White, Soft Stone) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper:  (Penny Lane 12x12) My Mind's Eye
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Build-A-Flower: Magnolia) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Leaves) Reverse Confetti, (Frame 3) Paper Smooches
Markers:  (R27, R32, Y00, Y15, E08, W1, W3, W5) Copic

Defeated Bunny

Hi there!

I'm popping in with cards for two challenges today.  First up is for the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge using this adorable (but slightly broken looking) Honey Bee bunny.  He looks pretty much how I feel right now.  I upgraded the OS on my computer yesterday and it has rendered the damn thing almost useless.  I've spent the better part of the day trying to sort it out and am feeling rather defeated.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Lollipop Shoppe 12x12) Basic Grey
Stamps:  (Bunny, rug & mug from Blah Bunny, Sentiment from Blah, Blah, Blah) Honey Bee
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black, Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Markers:  (RV10, BG10, C1, C3, C5) Copic
Other:  (Nuvo Oyster Grey Crystal Drops) Tonic

Next is a card for Freshly Made Sketches.  I made it a landscaper card instead of portrait and paired these Honey Bee dies with Altenew flowers.  I tend to end up going pastel and pink when it comes to wedding cards so I wanted this one more neutral.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Smokey Slate, Basic Grey, Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Vellum)
Stamps:  (Bamboo Rose) Altenew
Ink:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Mr & Mrs) Honey Bee
Other:  (Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss) Tonic
Gems:  Recollections

CASology #292

Welcome to Week 292 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

When I saw this cue word the phrase, "Curses!  Foiled again!" kept running through my head.  I knew it was from some cartoon character but I had to look it up - it's Snidely Whiplash from Dudley Do-Right.  Anyway I pondered that for a bit and considered making an encouragement card - you know, keep on trying even if you're plans are foiled or some such thing.  I also considered the fencing type of foil but really had nothing to work with there.  In the end I stumbled across these foiled vellum papers and voila - a CAS and classy wedding card was born.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

CASology #272

Welcome to Week 272 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Ever since I saw this cue word I've had Madonna's song "Cherish" stuck in my head.  Talk about a throwback!  Actually that's the second week in a row that the cue word has gotten me singing and the second week in a row I've ignored the song and gone in another direction.  I went in a matrimonial direction after watching a wedding scene on tv.  My ears perked up at "..to love and to cherish...".  Perfect!  Card idea sorted!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Inspired By All The Little Things Guest Designer

I was absolutely thrilled to bits when the lovely and talented Karren of Stamping Stuff invited me to be her guest for this week's Inspired by All the Little Things challenge!  If you've never visited Karren's blog you are missing out.  Her creations are gorgeous and I'm in awe of her colouring skills.

Here is this week's inspiration photo.  I was inspired by the pink behind the placard and the white sentiment framed by the flowers.  I wish I could say that I inked up the coloured panel on my card but alas, I am not that talented.  Instead it's a gorgeous piece of Cosmo Cricket paper.  The sentiment is stacked multiple times for dimension.  For the flowers I embossed them on vellum, keeping them simple so they wouldn't compete with the coloured panel.

I hope you'll join us and play along this week.  It's wedding season after all so it wouldn't hurt to have a wedding card in your stash!  Also if you have a moment I'd love it if you popped over to the Inspired By... blog and checked out my little interview.  :)

Have a great weekend!

CASology #203

Welcome to Week 203 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

This week we are looking for CAS congratulations of any kind.  I was thinking wedding for my card but the sentiment is versatile and leaves it open for a number of options.  I used Mama Elephant stamps with Wow embossing powder for a clean and crisp look.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

CASology #147

Welcome to Week 147 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

For some reason I always think of wedding cards as being very frilly and embellished so I was panicking a bit about this cue word.  In the end I kept it super simple with an image, a sentiment and a bit of bling all confined to the lower third of the card.

Now it's time for you to check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team and then get to work!

Four for Sunday

Another weekend is coming to a close without any more painting getting done. Luis and I are slowly working through the interior of the house and I mean SLOWLY!  LOL!  We had planned to paint the next room (we've only done 2 out of 7 so far) and put up some new bookshelves.  However, it was pouring all day on Saturday and after running around doing errands in the morning we arrived home damp and cold and not in the mood to do any work.  So instead we set up the sofa nest and watched more of Sons of Anarchy (only the last half of Season 6 to go!).  Today we swam Atticus and then Luis stained the wood for the shelves and I worked on cards.  We'll paint next week.  Maybe…

Anyway on to the cards!  I have 4 to share with you for 4 challenges.  First up is the card above which is based on the Freshly Made Sketches design.  I tried some watercoouring with Distress Inks here.  I'm pretty pleased with it for a first try and am actually looking forward to playing around a bit more with this technique.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Ranger, (Sahara Sand) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flower & leaves from Freestyle Florals, Sentiment from Lovely Mums) Mama Elephant
Inks: (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters, Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey) Ranger
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Washi Tape - Crafty Basics
Gems:  Recollections

Next up is a card for the Muse challenge.  I love Marion's bright and cheery design!  I think my inspiration is pretty obvious.  the main difference is that I used dies to create my little scene instead of stamps and ink.  I also used stripes on my yellow background instead of spatter.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Stripe from Background Basics: Super Stripes) Papertrey Ink, (Sentimetn from Home Sweet Home) Avery Elle
Inks: (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Stitched Polaroid) Lil' Inker Designs, (Bird, house & leaves from Folk Art Florals) WPlus9

Now for a colour challenge from The Colour Throwdown.  I had never heard of Vera Bradley before a friend mentioned it to me in passing in late 2013.  Then just a few weeks later I was in Boston and stumbled upon a whole Vera Bradley store!  Funny how that works…  Anyway I've never been much of a pattern person but I thought a lot of the stuff in there was really bright and fun. As is this card I guess.  My pink is a lot darker than the one in the photo but it's there in the string and the stars.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, Night of Navy) Stampin' Up
Dies:  (Birthday tag) Neat & Tangled, (Balloons & string) Lil' Inker Designs

My final card is for the Colour Me… challenge and uses these new (to me) Paper Smooches glasses dies.  Actually I've done pretty well with the NBUS overall in this post as every card has at least one NBUS item on it!  (Takes away a bit of the guilt from making a few orders recently…).  That's it for me tonight.  Not sure if I'll have anything new tomorrow as I'm working on a few special orders including 20 receptionist themed Easter cards!!!  I don't ask, I just make 'em.  :)  Have a lovely evening!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (So Saffron, Marina Mist, Sahara Sand) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Ampersand from CL567) Hero Arts, (Sentiment from Big & Bold Wishes) Papertrey Ink
Inks: (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Glasses) Paper Smooches
