Ahoy!

Ahoy there!

It's been a grey, rainy weekend - perfect for hunkering down and crafting!  I've taken a little break from Christmas cards to restock some general card categories.  This card is for two challenges - CAS Colours & Sketches and AAA Cards On the Move challenge. The scallops on the sketch made me think of waves so I decided to use this adorable NBUS MFT sailboat.  I figured it could be used as a hello card or perhaps a new baby boy card.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Bashful Blue, Tempting Turquoise) Stampin' Up!
Stamps:  (Sailboat from You Float My Boat) My Favorite Things, (Sentiment from Ahoy) My Cute Stamps

You're A Lifesaver

Hello!  I've got a card for CAS(E) This Sketch today using some My Cute Stamps (sadly no longer with us).  It came together pretty quickly.  I think the trickiest part was cutting out the middle of the life preserver.  I'm not that great with an X-acto knife...  :)

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Whales & Flowers

Yeehaw!  7 days in a row of posting to the ol' blog!  Life is good in the Craft Cave.  :)  Today's post features two cards for two challenges.  First up is the design over at Freshly Made Sketches.  I turned the sketch 90 degrees counter clockwise and then paper pieced these adorable NBUS Lawn Fawn whales.  I'm hoping that I'll get around to making a few more with some of the other love themed mini LF sets.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Regal Rose, Real Red, Bermuda Bay, Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Whales & sentiment from Whale You Be Mine, Bow from Critters in the Dog Park) Lawn Fawn, (Dots from Geo-Graphic) Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Bermuda Bay) Stampin' Up
Dies:  (Stitched heart) Lil' Inker Designs, (Dashed rectangle) Avery Elle

Next is my take on Anita's card over at Muse.  I pulled out a My Cute Stamps flower stamp and used the back side to stamp the colours and then flipped it over to stamp the flower.  The sentiment is from Market Street Stamps.  Unfortunately both of these stamp companies have gone out of business.  :(

So will I make it 8 days of posting in a row?  Come back tomorrow to find out!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stamping' Up
Stamps:  (Flower from Miss You) My Cute Stamps, (Sentiment from Simple Salutations) Market Street Stamps
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana) Stamping' Up

Butterflies and Valentines

Hello and happy Friday!  I've got 7 cards to share with you after a busy few hours in the Craft Cave yesterday.  First up is my entry for The Paper Players colour challenge.  I have to say that I struggled with this one especially the bright pink and red. I finally had a breakthrough though when I came across this My Cute Stamps set.  I stamped the circles to create an abstract sky and then I stamped, coloured, fussy cut and popped up the butterfly.  The sentiment is from CAS-ual Fridays.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Butterfly & circles from Miss You) My Cute Stamps
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Dashed panel) Avery Elle
Gems:  Recollections

This next card started by using the current sketch over at RetroSketches.  I'm also going to enter this in the Addicted to Stamps and More Anything Goes challenge.  I love this Lawn Fawn set for Valentine's cards.  All the little images are adorable.  So adorable in fact that I made 6 cards using each of the images and their matching sentiments.

CASology #176

Welcome to Week 176 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Yes, 'tis is the season of the Christmas tree but lately the My Cute Stamps keep demanding my attention and since many of them have never seen the light of day I thought I should indulge them.  I love this simple tree image.  I embossed it and coloured it with Copics and added some Glossy Accents to the heart.  The sentiment is from Freshly Squeezed Stamps (sadly also defunct) and I'm loving the look of sentiments highlighted on a dark strip of cardstock - it really makes them pop!

And this week's guest designer:

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember that the deadline for entries is Monday at noon (CST).

CASology #174

Welcome to Week 174 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Owls continue to be one of the more popular critters in the world of card making.  They're not quite at the level of butterflies but they're certainly up there (along with foxes).  I found a number of owl images in my stash from several different companies but I finally settled on using this one from (the sadly defunct) My Cute Stamps.  I used the sentiment to create the branch and paper pieced the owl and leaves.  Be sure to check out the rest of the
owl-dorableness from the design team and then play along  with us!

Flowers, Unicorns & Rainbows

I spent a bit of time in the Craft Cave today and have two cards to share with you.  First up is for the Just Add Ink inspiration challenge.  I love those bright blooms and they inspired me to ink up these My Cute Stamps flowers.  I rock and rolled them all in various Hero Arts colours and then fussy cut them and popped them up.  I'm also going to enter it in the Simon Says Stamp Make It Colourful challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Gumball Green) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flowers & leaves from Saying Hello) My Cute Stamps, (Sentiment from All Squared Up) Avery Elle

Dies:  (Stitched Rectangles) Lil' Inker Designs
Markers:  (YR68, E08) Copic
Gems:  Recollections

Next up is a card for Seize the Birthday's weather themed challenge.  I think rainbows and birthdays are a pretty good combination and rainbows and unicorns are an equally fabulous pairing so I put them all together for a bright and cheery birthday card. That's it for today.  Have a good evening and I'll be back tomorrow with my CASology card!

Flowers & Balloons

The Pinterest Inspired Challenge is new in town and judging from the number of gorgeous entries it's going to be a popular one.  I love the colours and the fun flowers in this inspiration picture and it immediately made me think of the flowers and leaves from a My Cute Stamps set.  I stamped them in black and then I took shapes from Simon Says Stamps' Scribble Flowers to "colour in" the images.  The layout is based on the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches but I flipped it upside down.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flowers & leaves from Celebrate Today) My Cute Stamps, (Circles from Scribble Flowers) Simon Says Stamp, (Sentiment from Oh Happy Day) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi) Stampin' Up
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Gems:  Recollections

Next up is an entry for Curtain Call.  I was inspired by the colours, the flowers and the stripes in the background.  I paired some of my favourite Paper Smooches dies with some striped paper from Lawn Fawn and an Altenew sentiment.  Unfortunately this is one of those cards that I love in real life but I feel like the picture is lacking.  I always have a hard time photographing black cardstock so maybe that's it.  It just doesn't seem to have translated well.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Gold)
Patterned Paper:  (Let's Polka 6x6) Lawn Fawn
Stamp:  (Sentiment from Many Thanks) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Crystal Clear 3, Flowers) Paper Smooches, (Stitched rectangle) Mama Elephant
Gems:  Recollections

My final card uses this week's  palette from ColourQ.  I love this colour combination - so bright and cheerful and perfect for some happy birthday balloons although apparently I've been using a lot of balloons lately because Luis' reaction to the card was, "Really?  Balloons again?"  Hmmm…  is that a challenge?  Clearly it's time I get more creative with my birthday cards!  Time to dust off some NBUS and get to work! That's it for me today.  Hope you all have a wonderful day and I'll see you back here tomorrow with CASology!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamp:  (Sentiment from Cake & Candles) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Balloons) Simon Says Stamp, (Bows) Avery Elle

Bright & Cheery Thank You

Hello hello!  After a day of non-stop rain yesterday it's cool, dry and breezy today. We took Atti for a good long walk and then Luis started puttering around in the yard while I headed for the Craft Cave.  This card came together really quickly.  I had been playing around with some embossing paste the other day and had embossed the yellow pattern on the card but then wasn't quite sure what to do with it so I put it aside. Thankfully the Colour Me challenge was kind enough to provide a colour palette that included Daffodil Delight so I pulled out the card and got to work.  The lined pattern in the Colour Me picture made me think of this My Cute Stamps flower.  The little butterfly was also in the set so I added him to the mix.  They're the perfect images for a bright and cheery card which is what the Paper Players are calling for in their Think Spring challenge so I'll be joining them as well.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flower & butterfly from Celebrate Today) My Cute Stamps, (Sentiment from Many Thanks) Altenew
Inks: (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Daffodil Delight) Stampin' Up
Punch:  (1/8" circle punch) McGill
Stencil:  (Mini Well Rounded) The Crafter's Workshop
Embossing Paste:  Wendy Vecchi

CASology # 96

Welcome to Week 96 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Okay, folks.  We are expecting to be INUNDATED with entries this week!  Everyone must have at least one flower stamp in their stash right?  :)  I went clean and graphic for my card - very Ardyth-esque.  In fact, Kimberly said, "You are channelling the CAS Jedi master my friend, becoming ONE with the CAS Force!" (Ardyth being the CAS Jedi master of course)  :D  I can't wait to see a garden of delights spring up over on the CASology blog so check out the amazing inspiration from the fabulous design team and then get to work!
