De Light Ful!

I'm excited to have posted every day this week!  I've had a change in my work schedule that has really enabled me to make better use of my time and it's starting to show.  I'm hoping the schedule will stay this way for a while.  :)  I'm joining in with Unity's Friends With Flair blog hop today.  It's been a while since I gave my Unity stamps some love and played along so here I am.  I used stamps from the December Kit of the Month and the colours are from the current Paper Players challenge.  Love this colour combo - it's great for masculine cards.  I played around with some Nestabilities dies to make these fun cut outs and create a funky layout.  Different but I like it!

I'm really looking forward to work today as my coworker has a new puppy, Kenzie, who is spending her days at the clinic with us.  On Wednesday Kenzie gobbled down her lunch, climbed inside my sweatshirt (a front zip one that was only half zipped) and passed out asleep for the next hour and a half.  I got a few odd looks from clients when they saw my lumpy "belly" but she was too cute to disturb so she stayed there while I went about my work!  Nothing like a puppy to make a day better.  :)

I turned the sketch on it's side this week and broke out my Lil' Inkers Mini Pinwheel Die for the first time.  Why did I wait so long??  It's so cute!  The hardest part was deciding which papers to use.  :)  Head on over to the CAS(E) This Sketch blog to see the gorgeousness from the rest of the Design Team and then get to work on your own creations. Can't wait to see them!

Happy Anniversary, Darnell & Mister!

After the lovely Darnell shared this phwoar picture of her hubby it came to light that today is their wedding anniversary!  If you've never visited Darnell then you must because not only is she hilarious but she's super sweet and supportive.  She also has a fantabulous crafty playhouse in her garden.  Not jealous at all... or much anyway...  :)  After making the anniversary discovery Ardyth gathered a few of us together to wish Darnell and Mister a very happy one!  Big love and hugs to you, Darnell

Rumour has it that Darnell will be posting wedding photos today so Ardyth asked us each to share a picture from our own wedding.  Luis and I went the Registry Office route for our day, deciding to spend our money on a lavish honeymoon instead!  :)  Here's a picture after the event:

And one from before the event.  It's typical of our family - my brother goofing off, me laughing hysterically and mom wondering where she went wrong...  :)

If you get a moment, pop over and say Happy Anniversary to Darnell, read a post or three and explore her playhouse!

CASology #27

Welcome to Week 27 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

Okay, so if you're not a fan of dance music you may be completely mystified by the sentiment on this card!  LOL!  "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" is a song by Eiffel 65 and it's the first thing that came into my head when I saw this week's cue word.  (Closely followed by Tommy Page's "Blue Nights".  Shows the randomness of my musical tastes!)  I thought the disco ball from The Craft's Meows' Retro Foundations set would be perfect for this and I just so happened to have bought a few jars of Zing embossing powder for the first time - including a jar of blue!  How fun is that stuff?  Gives such a great sparkle!

Okay, let's see your take on Blue.  Check out the fab creations by the rest of the design team and then get crackin' on some crafts!

And this week's guest designer:

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember that submissions are due by 4pm CST Sunday, 20 January.

Together We Can Do So Much

When I saw the Moxie Fab challenge to use 10 embellishments on a card my first thought was, "Jessi is going to rock this one!  She knows how to work some embellies!" (Can't wait to see your entries, Jessi!).  I figured I'd be skipping this one but then remembered some of the goodies I'd picked up on my recent trip.  I got a package of these cute little wooden peeps (Studio Calico) and knew that somewhere in my stash I had a "Better together" type of sentiment.  After flicking through all my Unity binders I actually found two such sentiments and decided to go with the Helen Keller quote.  Add some Lil' Inker rainbow dies and voila - a card with 10 embellishments!  I'm pretty happy with how it came out especially as it still feels CAS to me.  I'm also starting to see what all the Studio Calico fuss is about!  Gonna have to check out their products a little further...

Happy Flower

Saturday was grey and gloomy for the most part and we were incredibly lazy.  Luis vegged on the sofa and I worked in the Craft Cave.  It wasn't until we took Atti for a walk at 4:30 that I even changed out of my pjs!  I might have to wear my pjs to make cards more often because I managed to get quite a bit done.

This card is a two-for-one challenge card.  It's a clean and simple card for Little Tangles using the colours from Dynamic Duos.  I was determined to be clever with the colours and not use a flower image but you know what?  If it works, it works and So Saffron and Certainly Celery just screamed flowers to me.  I paper pieced the leaves and flower and then lightly outlined them with coordinating Stampin' Up markers.  I love how everything pops off the Basic Grey background and the Doodlebug pearls I got while I was away are so fun!

Happy Trigger

I've been admiring all the collage type cards that I've seen around lately especially the ones that still manage to feel a bit CAS (if that makes sense...).  I've been studying them and pondering them and dipping my toe into the collage pool here and there but I think today's card is my favourite one I've done so far.  I started with the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger as inspiration.  (Similar colours to this month's Moxie Fab header no?)  I took inspiration from the colour of the bed frame (leaf die cuts), the striped pillow (background stripes), the bedspread (large flower), the floral pillow (little flower) and the rug (banner).  I spent ages flipping through  6x6 pads and then cutting and rearranging shapes and die cuts.  It was an interesting process and in the end I went with what felt like it looked right.  For example, I originally used a straight banner for the sentiment but it seemed too angular and awkward.  The curves on the Lawn Fawn banner just seemed to fit better.  All in all it was an interesting process and one I think I'll be trying again!
