Paper Smooches GD Take Two

Hello there!  I'm here with my second post as the Paper Smooches Guest Designer for July. The Bermuda Triangle aliens finally released my stamps in time for me to spend the weekend playing with them!  Whoop whoop!

My first card is a get well card and uses images from Teen Routine and a sentiment from Space Cadet.  I love these fun techie images especially the iPad as I couldn't live without mine!  The circle with the cross in the centre of it is taken from the game controller and used here as a medical symbol.  :)

I love that one-eyed alien from Space Cadet and his ship looks like the perfect shape for beaming people up!  The other images are also from Space Cadet and the sentiment is from Sunny Side Up.

Hope you all have a lovely day and I'll be back with more Paper Smooches goodness next week!  :)

CASology Challenge #1

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the very first CASology challenge!  Here's how the challenge is going to work:

1. Every Tuesday, a cue card will be posted containing a single word.
2. Take that word and run with it!  Interpret it however you'd like!  Just be sure and keep things
clean and simple!
3. Deadline is
Sunday at noon (CST) to link up your project on the challenge blog.  Be sure to provide a link to the CASology blog within your blog post!
4. Feel free to combine this challenge with other challenges.

5.  A Winner and 4 Honorable Mentions will be announced Monday!

Here's the Cue Card for this week:

And here's my card:

Design Defined:
When I make a really CAS card I tend to use textured or embossed card for the base as it adds some interest without stealing from the design.  Using patterned paper also creates the same effect and, for me, a few gems always give the card it's final pop!

Ready to play along?  Link up your clean and simple creations inspired by the word sun to the CASology blog by Sunday, 14 July at noon (CST).  Can't wait to see them!

And be sure to visit the rest of the DTs blogs and leave them some love.  :)

It's Block Party time over at Market Street Stamps so I decided to finally ink up my Daily Grind stamps.  And, it just so happens that Embellish is having a Tea Party challenge to use their colour palette along with tea related images.  How perfect!  I love when challenges come together in harmony!  LOL!

I also wanted to share the card I had published in Stamp It Cards! Vol. 9 (on page 101):

Dogwood Thanks

Hi all!  Just popping in quickly before I head off to work to share a card for two challenges.  This week at Dynamic Duos we were to use Crumb Cake and another colour of our choice.  I went with Cherry Cobbler and finally inked up my Hero Arts Dogwood stamp.  I coveted this stamp for ages only to leave it uninked for months after getting it!  Glad it's finally having it's moment in the sun.  :)  The second challenge is the Moxie Fab Stamp It Cards Thank You Challenge.  I also wanted to thank all of you who've left such lovely comments about my guest design cards for Paper Smooches. I've been so nervous about it but you all sure know how to make a girl feel good!  :)

Paper Smooches Guest Designer!

The day is finally here - my first day as the July Guest Designer for Paper Smooches!  I am so excited to have this opportunity and am even more excited to play with the latest releases - Space Cadet, Squeaky Clean, and Teen Routine.  That is, if they ever arrive.  Clearly whatever aliens are currently running the Bermuda Triangle have kidnapped the stamps of their likenesses and are holding them hostage.  Or having a little stamping party.  Or dissecting them or some other weird alien thing.  Whatever it is they had better release them in time for me to create some cards for next week or there will be trouble!

In the meantime I've made a couple of cards with some other Paper Smooches sets.  I loved how Emily used the fern from Zoo Crew to create wheat on this card.  It made me think of "amber waves of grain" which then let me to start humming "America the Beautiful".  Being that my first post was to be on the 4th of July I figured I'd go with the patriotic theme and illustrate the first three lines on the song:

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
I used the birds and mountains from Get Outta Town and spelled out the sentiment with Alphadot.

I've been making a lot of baby cards lately so I guess the theme is still in my head.  It led me to create a little scene using a number of stamps including my favourite PS bird (the blue one).  I love his sweet, wistful little face!
This card uses stamps from Hang Ups, Forest Whimsy, Word Salad and A Little Lovin'.

That's all from me today.  Hopefully this time next week I'll be rockin' the new releases! See you then!

New Puppy

Hello hello!  We had a lovely visit with some cousins from the US this weekend who I haven't seen since I was about 14!  It was wonderful to catch up and share lots of laughs and good food.  I also found some time to spend in the Craft Cave which always makes for a good weekend.  ;)

A lady at work asked for a new puppy card for a friend and this design works perfectly for the latest CAS-ual Fridays challenge to use 2 circles.  I saw this idea for using two hearts to create a bone shape on someone's blog ages ago and cannot for the life of me remember who it was.  (If it was you let me know so I can give you proper acknowledgment!)

CASology!

Good morning, everyone!  I am so excited to announce today that I have been invited to join my first design team!

Melissa Chipperfield has created CASology: The Creative Study of Clean and Simple. Beginning on July 10th there will be weekly challenges every Tuesday where a cue word will be provided as a jumping off point for you to create a clean and simple card.  The design team will share our cards as well as an explanation of how our designs came about. And speaking of the design team, you must hop around and visit these talented ladies:

Whoop whoop to my DT crew!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everyone, and I'll see you on July 10th at CASology!
