CASology #59

Welcome to Week 59 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

I.  Love.  Books.  In fact, I'd say I'm a bit of a book junkie.  I still have books that I bought as far back as 1996 that I haven't gotten around to reading yet.  (Can't let them go until I've read them).  I tend to buy books faster than I read them (much like crafting supplies but that's another story...).  I can't get into the whole Kindle thing.  I love the feel and smell of a real book.  It might be a bit more bulk to carry around but I wouldn't have it any other way.

My card today kind of has two meanings.  When I made it I was thinking of back to school and the reaction I used to have after that first trip of the year to the campus bookstore.  Was I really going to get through all of that in one semester??  On the other hand, this is pretty much Luis's reaction when we get to the check out counter at a book store!  LOL!  :D  He'll usually spend a bit of time trying to convince me that perhaps I don't need all of them but in the end he'll sigh and say, "If you want them then you have to carry them."  :)

So what about you?  Are you a book junkie?  What does the cue make you think of?  Check out the other gorgeous DT creations and then show us what you got!

  5. Jen, your card made me giggle! I'm with you, I love the feel of a real book in hand. I love to read, too, and I need to find more time to do it (and less time on Pinterest, I think!)! Love the colorful stack of books...the sentiment is what really made me laugh!

  7. LOVE YOUR CARD Jen! My mom was a librarian and I was an English major~so I DO have a fondness for books! I've heard movers curse in other languages as they packed up our books when leaving our tour in Germany, LOL~I just can't let them go! ;)

  8. It was definitely 'seriously' when it came to school text books but apart from that I am not much of a reader (you can tell by my blog posts I'm sure) but I'm with you on the book V's kindle front!!
I love how you stacked them up and coloured them brightly... couldn't do that with a kindle eh!!??

  10. What? Seriously, Luis needs to start carrying your books for you... it's the romantic thing to do! :P
You know I'm with you in the book love... although I'll confess I can see the advantage of an e-reader when travelling. This looks just like my to-be-read stack! Terrific card -- perfect book stacking, too. ;)

  14. So cute Jen! I am a book junkie! I love the feel of books too. I have a kindle and ipad and use neither for reading for the same reason you stated! I love going to our local book store and browse the aisles for the perfect book to purchase!

  15. I can't shake the feeling that I told you already, but yep. Rob gave me a Kobo for xmas in 2011, and neither one of us likes it, lol. Real books all the way! And I am a library user since I just read too much & too fast to buy them all. I have my own 'shelf' in the holds section, and all the librarians (save one) are completely & utterly awesome. As is this card! I'm trying to come up with an idea :)

  17. Love this Jen! This weeks theme is perfect for back to school week here in MD. Your card reminds me of buying college textbooks. First they shock you with the price... and again by the weight & size of your books! LOL Great card :)

  18. A HUGE grin over here from this post, Jen! I can just hear you saying this, too. And, yes, I am a book-buying nut, too. My Kindle is dusty, 'cause I'm like you. This card is great, but this post touches my heart and makes me see how much I adore you. Hugs!

  19. I am indeed a book junkie...just as my DH! LOL! I just can't part with them...most are non-fiction too! gasp! I have tried reading on a Kindle too and it just isn't the same! (I still use a paper planner/organizer too!) I'm finding some time to read some good mysteries with a little one in the house again! Love having a valid excuse to read!!!
I love your card and that sentiment it soooo very perfect! :) LOL!

  20. A book junkie for sure - and it has to be real. (Although I admit to having a low end Kindle for traveling - never knowing what I would feel like reading - I travelled VERY heavy!!) I had that book stamp out this very day working on a school card. I love your stack!

  21. I actually get 'stressed' if I don't have a book to read, even though now the only time I get is when I go to bed and I'm so tired that it's only a few pages for me. Alas no Kindle yet... not sure if I'm ready for the leap either. But I no longer keep my books only a few 'cherished' authors is all, I got sick of moving them and I can't re read anything unless it's Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings... ps great card!

  22. I am a book junkie as well! I hardly ever take books out of the library because I want to OWN them - and yet I rarely reread any book - go figure!

I love your GIANT pile of books Jen - it makes me want to curl up in a chair and read!!
