Starfruit

I have to confess that Summer Starfruit is one of my least favourite Stampin' Up! colours. It just looks like a dirty yellow to me.  I was all set to skip this week's ColourQ challenge when I saw that dreaded colour in the line-up but I sucked it up and took a stab at it.  To help me out I used the inspiration card from this week's Inkspirational challenge.  It's probably not a colour combo I'd use again but I'm pleased enough with the final result.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flowers from Folk Art Florals) WPlus9, (Sentiment from Think Big Favourites #3) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko, (Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Summer Starfruit) Stampin' Up
Embossing Powder:  (Seafoam White) Ranger
Punch:  (Corner rounder) Marvy Uchida

  14. I really like your card, but I do get what you mean about it being a dirty yellow. It's a really hard shade to work with, but I like what you've done with it here :-)

  16. Wow--love this card. I think your pattern would make an awesome fabric! I think it works so well for you here because the bright colors are balanced by so much grey. It looks just super.

  19. lol... I must say, I agree with your feelings about Summer Starfruit. If I'm going to use yellow, it better be pretty! Ha. But you did well sucking it up! The stamped panel is quite a fabulous trick, it looks great.

  20. I can definitely see why that's not your favourite yellow! Something about the pink & red with it, and the perfect amount of grey 'white' space makes it less icky. (That sounds bad - but I figure it will make you laugh, so I'm leaving it!) I really like how you did the layers as well - lots of dimension from that!
