Letter to Santa

I pulled out my Purple Onion Designs stamps to play along with CAS-ual Fridays sketch challenge. I love this stamp - it's pretty much how I feel every year!  :)
Poor Atti had a bit of a rough day yesterday.  We had two young puppies come in to work that were severely anemic due to a nasty case of hookworm. They both needed blood transfusions immediately and normally we are able to get a dog from the SPCA to take some blood from.  Unfortunately all they have at the shelter at the moment are little purse dogs which are too small.  So Atticus (at 91lbs) was volunteered to be a blood donor. He was so excited to go for a ride in the car and then ended up getting sedated and drained of blood!  Poor guy wouldn't eat before he left the clinic, was sick on the way home and then climbed into our bed and passed out for the next 6 hours!  He finally managed to get up later and eat some dinner before settling onto the sofa for the night.  Today he's back to his normal goofy self, thank goodness, and Jem is happier too - he couldn't figure out what was wrong with his brother last night!

Your poor puppy! And so close to Hallowe'en, too. :D Glad he's feeling better now. (Atticus: To Kill a Mockingbird, by any chance?)

  5. It's too bad that we are all old enough now to actually REMEMBER if we were better or not than last year. Me, I think I'm on the short stick of that one. Fantastic clean and simple card, the colors are amazing! And you and your pup are good Samaritans too! Thank you so much for playing along in the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!

  10. that's just too cute a story ... but what a brave dog and that atticus sure handled it like any male would! love your description of the purse dogs, nothing handbaggy about your two! ... the card is awesome, the biscuit pile is hilarious, polly wondered if that's how many biscuits you leave santa in bermuda (i think she thinks we might short change him going by this card :)

  17. This card is super fun! LOVE the sentiment and that cookie stack is too cute!
It would make me too sad to look after neglected animals like that, they are lucky to have someone like you and Atti to help them.

  19. Oh my goodness, poor puppy, glad to hear he's perked up!

I love this card, Jen! So cute and funny! **heehee** I think I was better than last year, too. Maybe Santa will bring me some new stamps! ;) The kraft background is perfect on this!

To answer your questions, I live in Colorado, but in the Denver area not in the mountains, so a foot of snow at this time of year is a little more than normal (we see our biggest snowfall in the Spring here) but not too much of a big shock! I baked Madeleines! I bought a pan years ago, but have never tried making them, they turned out easy and delicious :) Thanks for popping by my blog, I hope you are having a great week! :) **hugs**

  20. Poor Atticus, but thank goodness he was able to do it. When I was still able to donate blood I was always nauseous too :( I think it would be strange for one dog to see the other feeling poorly, so I'm glad he's back to himself already.
I love this card - made me laugh out loud! - and I love the 'ho ho ho' in the background. It gives me the feeling that Santa is laughing as he reads the note :)
