Fly Away With Me

I am always impressed by crafters who manage to find patterned paper that works perfectly for a challenge.  I decided to give it a whirl this week and went on a hunt for some paper for this week's Play Date Cafe challenge.  I thought I found a pretty good match with this paper from 7 Gypsies but looking at them together on the screen they're not quite right.  I usually print out the inspiration picture and take it to the Craft Cave with me. Clearly I've either got to get a laptop for the Craft Cave or a new printer as my printed colours are not matching what's on the screen.  Grrrr...

Supplies:  CS: Gina K, SU; PP: 7 Gypsies; Stamp: PI; Ink: VersaFine; Punches: Lakeland, Martha Stewart; Gems: Doodlebug
Even if the colours aren't quite right I still like the card and I had fun going through all that patterned paper!  Besides sets of paper I also have a lot of miscellaneous paper from buying bulk discount packs of random papers.  It seemed like a good idea when I was buying it but I realise now it's difficult to find other paper to match it with.  I was pleased to finally use a sheet!  LOL!  Gives me hope that the rest may find it's way onto some cards eventually.  :)

  1. You'll find a grand way to use the patterned paper up, I'm sure of it! This is a beautiful card!

  3. What an amazing effect Jen...it's like a venetian blind at a window!
I'm not very good at using PP on cards which is a shame as I have loads of it!
The colours look absolurely fine on my monitor screen, but a laptop for the craft cave sounds a wicked idea:)

  6. I print out those color stories too, so I can carry them around with me if I have errands or whatever, and let the ideas wash over me. I really like how your card turned out, Jen, and it sounds like you had fun making it too! THanks for playing with us at THe Play Date CAfe.

  7. Oh I feel your pain - I often think my colors are right but then I put them next to the color story and say OOPS - just look at my sample on the site this week. Not quite right! But it really is ok, it doesn't have to be an EXACT match, just in the same ballpark. :-) And your card is so pretty, love those fluttering butterflies! :-) Thanks for joining us at The Play Date Cafe!

  8. I love your take on the colors! The bands look super cool...I'm going to have to try that. I know what you mean about the patterned paper packs...I just sold a bunch of mine at a garage sale as they were taking up too much room. *sigh*
